A Study of Development of All Wheel Steering ECU in Bi-modal Tram (저상굴절버스의 전 차륜 조향 시스템 ECU 개발에 대한 연구)

  • As standard of living is higher and aging society is coming, it is needed to develop transportation that is easy to use for weak person. To comply with the demands, it is started to make Bi-modal Tram that is on KRRI(Korea Railroad Research Institute)'s hands. This tram has to have good accessibility like bus, be low level from ground like subway, and park accurately so wheel chair's or passenger's foot can't fall into the gap. But Bi-modal Tram have long length, so it need development of All Wheel Steering System. The Bi-modal Tram that have all wheel steering system steer not only the first axle but also the second and third axle from the first axle or articulation angle, and velocity, and so on. At this study, we discuss AWS ECU's development process.

Steering Axis Analysis of Multi-link Suspensions with Bushing Compliance (컴플라이언스 특성을 고려한 멀티링크 현가장치의 조향축 해석)

  • Steering axis of suspensions is an important factor that affects ride and handling quality in the vehicle chassis development. Macpherson strut and double wishbone's steering axis are defined geometrically, but multi-link suspensions can not be geometrically analyzed. In this case instant axis theory is commonly used to find a steering axis. Since the steering axis is moving with varying caster and kingpin inclination angle, this method approximately corresponds with exact solution. In this paper, we propose a velocity analysis method to find a pure rotational axis of the wheel relative to suspension arms, that is exact solution of the steering axis. This paper extends the method to analyze the steering axis of multi-link suspensions with bushing compliance. The analysis results applied to double wishbone and multi-link suspensions demonstrate validity and accuracy of the proposed method.

  • Recently, there has been an active study about weight reduction for automotive. This study is prediction and evaluation of one pice type steering component, which is universial joint. Steering system is a core of major safe device in vehicle. Universial shaft adopted in steering system transmit steering torque between olumn and steering gear. Conventional universial shaft is produced by welding process because of geometric complexity. But welding process has some weakness such as deflection on surface, residual stress, and deteronration of material properties so it can deteriorate durability of vehicle.

  • 모빌리티 기술이 발전함에 따라 기존 차량에서 선보이지 못했던 다양한 주행기술이 가능해졌고, 이에 따라 많은 장점을 지닌 모빌리티 기술들이 등장하고 있다. 4 륜 독립 구동, 제동, 조향 시스템은 바퀴 별 독립 제어가 가능하여 여러 주행 모드를 구현할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 4 륜 독립 구동, 제동과 독립 조향이 가능한 모빌리티 플랫폼에 대해 평행 주행, 제자리 회전, 축 회전 주행 등을 구현하는 방안과, 더 나아가 각도 속도를 일정하게 유지함으로써 오차를 최소화하는 제어 방법에 대해 살펴보고자 한다.

  • In this paper we proposed a beam steering equation for the planar slotted waveguide array antenna. The tilt angle measured from the rotating axis and the aperture distribution of the antenna were the most important factors for the beam steering. From the equation, we calculated the frequency and phase distribution of the aperture for any desired beam direction. And we developed a high speed control algorithm delivering the phase data to the phase shifters of a one-dimensional phased array antenna. To reduce complexity of the control circuit and the phase delivery time, we proposed the serial phase repeating method. Because of its simplicity, we expect it can be useful for a large 2- dimensional fully phased array antenna.

Trends of airbag technology (에어백 기술의 발전동향)

  • 에어백 관련기술은 차체 충돌특성 평가, 승객거동분석, 좌석벨트/조향축/에어백의 조화설계 등을 포함하는 시스템 엔지니어링 기술과 충돌감지센서, 가스발생기, 모듈 등을 포함하는 주요 기능 부품의 설계 및 제조기술로 구분된다. 이 중 시스템 엔지니어링 기술은 국내의 완성차 업계의 노력에 의하여 선진국의 수준에 근접하고 있으나 부품의 설계 및 제조기술은 매우 취약한 상황이다. 80년대 후반부터 각국의 에어백 관련 특허 출원 건수가 급증하고 있으며 새로운 기능의 부품들이 속속 개발되고 있다. 에어백 기술의 발전방향은 소형화, 경량화, 저렴화로 요약된다. 차량의 전방 충돌에 대비한 에어백이 주종을 이루고 있으나 측면 충돌에 대비한 side bag, 뒷자석 승객을 보호하기 위한 rear bag 등이 개발되고 있고 최근에는 버스 등 대형차량이나 모터사이클 등에도 에어백을 부착하기 위한 연구가 추진되고 있다. 에어백은 충돌센서(crash sensor), 가스발생장치(inflator), 공기주머니(bag), 덮개(cover), 배선(wire harness) 등으로 구성된다. 이들 중에서 공기주머니, 덮개, 가스발생장치를 결합한 부분 조립품을 모듈(module)이라고 부르고 있다. 이하에서는 에어백을 구성하는 주요 기능부품들의 종류, 특성과 기술개발 동향을 알아보기로 한다.

  • The steel wheels are widely used in the passenger cars because of their low cost of production although the aluminum wheels have many advantages in their performance and appearance. It is known that the steering wheel vibration with steel wheels is generated more often than one with aluminum wheels. Both the constant velocity driving test and the m up test are carried out in this study to analyze the causes and path of the steering wheel vibration generated from the steel wheels. And this study shows that the steering wheel vibration is affected by the fastening torque of the wheel mounting bolts between the steel wheel and the suspension disk.

  • A window-based multibody dynamics program CADyna(Computer Aided Dynamics) is developed and applied for kinematic and dynamic analysis ova steering system. The program is composed oft pre-processor, a main processor, and a post-processor. The pre-processor is developed with Visual C7+ and the post-processor is developed with OpenGL and TeeChart. The main processor generates the equations of motion employing velocity transformation technique. The developed program is customized for the design of an intermediate shaft in a steering system.

  • This paper presents an approximate synthesis of 5-SS multi link suspension for 2 D.O.F motions. In the proposed synthesis method, alteration curves of camber, toe, kingpin and caster angles are optimized during the bump rebound and the steering motions. And joint positions can be located within desired boundari es. Especially, steering motions are considered for control of kingpin offset and caster trail. Prescribed motions contain both wheel center positions and imaginary kingpin axes in the multi link type suspension. Constraint equations are formulated with di splacement matrix and velocity matrix using instantaneous screw axis.
