Effects of Police Officers' Organizational Learning on Empowerment Components (경찰공무원의 조직학습이 임파워먼트 구성요인에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of the study was to analyze how organizational learning of police officers affects empowerment components as this learning method works as a way to maximize the police organization. In order to achieve the research goal, the study selected a total of 170 police officers on duty in Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency as a research subject for a month from July 14, 2013 to August 15. The subjects were selected via the random sampling method and were told to participate in a survey of a self-administrated method. A total of 163 (95.5%) references were used for the final analysis. The collected data was processed with SPSS for Win Version 18.0 and the variables were went through Pearson's Correlation Analysis and Multiple Regression Analysis. The results are summarized as follows. First, a hypothesis of "how social demographic characteristics have a different influence on organizational learning and empowerment" was partially confirmed. Second, another hypothesis of "how organizational learning affects empowerment of the members" was adopted.

  • CoP(Community of Practices)란 구성원간 새로운 정보 및 지식의 상호학습 및 문제해결방안을 모색하기 위해 활동하는 공동체를 지칭하는 것으로, 통상 학습공동체 또는 실천공동체 등으로 지칭된다. 연구개발조직은 통상 내부 구성원간의 상호학습은 물론 외부 전문가와의 정보교류 및 상호학습을 촉진하는 CoP 활성화를 토대로 구성원의 역량개발은 물론 해당 조직의 연구개발 성과를 향상시키려고 노력한다. 본 연구는 대전에 소재한 4개 국가연구개발조직의 151명 연구원을 대상으로 한 설문조사 결과를 바탕으로 응답자들이 참여한 CoP 운영특성과 해당 CoP 창출 성과와의 관계를 실증적으로 연구하고 있다. 실증연구 결과, 신규멤버 증대, 외부연계 도전적 풍토, 다양성지향 자율적 풍토와 같은 실질적인 CoP 운영특성이 CoP 성과에 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이에 비해 참가자수나 모임횟수와 같은 외형적 운영특성의 영향력은 유의성이 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 이 조사결과는 참여한 구성원의 역량개발은 물론 해당 조직의 성과 향상에 기여하는 CoP를 활성화 하기 위해 CoP의 수, 참가자 규모, 운영횟수와 같은 외형적 특성에만 치중하기보다, CoP의 운영내실화를 기하고, 창의적 조직풍토를 강화하는 노력이 보다 효과적일 수 있음을 시사한다.

The Relationship of Market Orientation, Organizational Learning and Innovativeness with New Product Development and Overall Performance (시장지향성, 조직학습, 혁신성이 신제품 개발과 기업의 전반적 성과에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the antecedents of organizational innovativeness, which in turn influence firm performance that is composed of new product development performance and overall firm performance. We collected responses from C-level executives, and conducted a structural equation model analysis. Results revealed that organizational memory and market orientation influence organizational innovativeness, which in turn influence new product development performance and overall firm performance. However, interestingly, new product development performance was not found to affect overall firm performance. Based on these results, we have confirmed the importance of market orientation and organizational memory for organizational innovativeness. Practical implications related to the results are provided.

  • The importance of organizational learning is increasing. Drawing on regulatory focus theory and upper echelon theory, this study aims to identify the relationship of the regulatory focus of managers and three aspects of organizational learning, namely breadth, depth, and speed of organizational learning. While identifying the significant influence of promotion focus on the three aspects of organizational learning, we found that the influence of promotion focus of breadth of organizational learning is statistically stronger than that of prevention focus.

  • This study examined the impact of learning organization activities on burnout and the moderating effect of supervisor trust in a learning organization. The results of the study shows that among the activities of a learning organization, independent variables in this study, promoting inquiry and dialogue as well as encouraging collaboration and team learning affect burnout. In other words, the dedication of an organization to creating a culture in which various learning approaches are experimented through questioning and giving feedback as well as collaborative learning that can reinforce the effective use of team resources have an impact on reducing emotional exhaustion, which is considered to be at the core of burnout. Plus, these factors reduce impersonalization, which is activated to prevent further emotional exhaustion by dealing with customers, colleagues and jobs in a cold, negative and perfunctory way. In this study, the dimensions of promoting inquiry and dialogue as well as encouraging collaboration and team learning were found to reduce the decline in personal sense of achievement of an employee with a negative assessment of himself or herself derived from a lack of achievement in his or her job. Supervisor trust (integrity, benevolence and ability) had a moderating effect on the relationship between strategic learning leadership and impersonalization/emotional exhaustion. This suggests that the trust of supervisor helps mediate and moderate the emotional exhaustion and impersonalization of organizational members by encouraging leaders to drive change and take the organization to a new direction. The study has provided implications that communication plays an important role in reducing burnout in the learning context such as positive, appreciative inquiry and feedback analysis to identify strength, and that supervisor trust is critical in order to ensure strategic learning leadership exerts greater influence on the organization.

  • Nowadays, the domestic construction markets are more competitive and the construction companies are very difficult to obtain profits. To overcome this situation, some construction companies are looking for value added business areas. To create and enter into the value added business areas, knowledge management to create, share and apply knowledge is important. However, the existing knowledge management has problems because it does not consider organizational culture. Therefore, strategic changes of person and organization are needed to improve the existing knowledge management. In this study, learning organization plan is suggested as a foundation of knowledge management in the construction companies and examined by IIAC(Incheon International Airport Corporation) case.

  • 제 7 차 교육과정에서 경제지리 과목이 심화 선택 과목으로 새롭게 설정되었다. 그러나 제 6차 교육과정 한국지리 과목의 경제지리 교육내용을 단순 확대.심화시켜 구성하였기 때문에, 그 동안의 비판과 문제점을 해결하지 못하고 있다. 지리교육에서 경제 지리교육내용의 선정 및 조직 바법은 산업별 분류방법, 주제 중심방법, 경제과정 중심방법으로 분류할 수 있는데, 기존은 교육과정은 산업별 분류방법을 근간으로 하고 있다. 본 연구에서는, 공급자의입장에서 나열적으로 교육내용을 선정.조직하고 있는 기존 방법의 문제점을 개선하고, 실생활에서 학습의 유용성을 확인시켜 학습자의 관심과 흥미를 갖게 하며, 다양한 형태의 교수-학습 활동이 가능하도록 하면서, 심화 선택 과목의 특성을 살릴 수 있는 경제 지리 과목의 교육내용 선정 및 조직 대안으로 지역문제 중심방법을 제안한다.

  • This study explores what kinds of strategies are appropriate for the academic libraries to upgrade their services and vitalize their organizational culture. The sources related to the organizational development theory and the organization of the academic libraries are gathered and examined for this study. And this study suggests the realization of team system the development of knowledge management and teaming organization culture, the establishment of strategic plan as the strategies for the organizational development of the academic libraries in Korea.

  • Finns are central economic agents that play an important role in systems of innovation as they take responsibility for generating and diffusing knowledge in both organizational and societal context. They must be considered as learning organizations which interact with other finns and institutions that share their environment. The systems of innovation literature accentuates institutional conditions that influence innovation in sectoral, regional or national levels. Meanwhile, it tends to ignore the complex dimensions of finn practices in relation to learning and innovation activities. In this context, this paper attempts to examine what finns do for sustaining innovation and how they learn to innovate. This is not just critical to know individual finns innovativeness which depends on interactions with environments within and outside the organizational boundary but also to evaluate the regional innovation system potential. In short, it is important to see that finns would attempt to take advantage of distributed knowledge within and across the boundaries of the finn without sticking to particular regional innovation systems. I argue that the more finns of a cluster attempt not only to combine localized sources of knowledge and external sources of knowledge but also to become a learning organization, the more increased regional innovation system potentials can be.

  • This paper explains the contribution of international learning to the business performance through strengthening the international learning capability of the organization. This is consistent with the previous literature that the organization's international experience is an important determinant of the international performance and the learning capability, strengthened through organizational learning, contributes to the business performance. In addition, this paper analyzes the characteristics of international learning of a venture business, which has actively pursued internationalization, by categorizing exploitation and exploration. An important result is that the small-sized venture firm, which is weak in internal resources compared with large firms, utilizes partner network more actively to accumulate international experience by exploration. We can then confirm that this international experience strengthens learning capability and gives positive effects on the business performance.
