  • The research mainly focused on how the nasagastric tube used to solve feeding troubles developed by 30 children with CP(Cerebral Palsy) affects the post-childhood feeding development right after their birth. It tested an articulation skill of the children and surveyed their feeding ability with their care-givers from 1st in July to 30th in August, 2015. This study conducted an investigation of the way a feeding ability affects an articulation skill. It suggested that an articulation accuracy significantly depends on whether or not the nasagastric tube is used. Also, the findings showed that the post-articulation accuracy is quite related with the problems for the liquid intake, the use of special feeding methods and tools, and biting and chewing among the evaluating problems for the childhood feeding ability. The research concluded that some areas in the early childhood feeding ability have an apparent influence on the post-articulation skill for children with CP.

  • Hearing - impaired children who have difficulty hearing and hearing go through pronunciation training. The purpose of this study is to provide the pronunciation training system based on digital contents that can be used for repeated hearing training while maintaining interest in hearing - impaired children. For this purpose, we conducted an interview survey for users and experts. Based on the results, we developed a digital content based pronunciation training system. Finally, to verify the effect of the digital service implemented, the user test was conducted for the hearing - impaired children. As a result of the interview, repeated training and interest factors were found to be essential factors affecting pronunciation training. In implementing digital services, we have used fairy tales and a variety of interactive elements to derive children's interests and designed a user flow that can train multiple words and sentences for effective repetition training. As a result of the test, this digital content was evaluated positively.

  • In this paper, we present a mobile application for 'personalized customized learning' for children with articulation disorders using an artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm. A dataset (Data Set) to analyze, judge, and predict the learner's articulation situation and degree. In particular, we designed a prototype model by looking at how AI can be improved and advanced compared to existing applications from the UX/UI (GUI) aspect. So far, the focus has been on visual experience, but now it is an important time to process data and provide a UX/UI (GUI) experience to users. The UX/UI (GUI) of the proposed mobile application was to be provided according to the learner's articulation level and situation by using CRNN (Convolution Recurrent Neural Network) of DeepLearning and Auto Encoder GPT-3 (Generative Pretrained Transformer). The use of artificial intelligence algorithms will provide a learning environment with a high degree of perfection to children with articulation disorders, thereby enhancing the learning effect. I hope that you do not have any fear or discomfort in conversation by improving the perfection of articulation with 'personalized and customized learning'.

  • Speech is complex psycho-physiological mutual process which includes many orofacial organs. Especially, teeth play an especially important role as an articulation organ in conjunction with the lips and tongue. When teeth are missing, the position of tongue and mandible is adjusted to produce correct sound. If a patient's adaptive function is inadequate for modification of malocclusion, prosthodontic and orthodontic interventions are necessary. Missing teeth of young patients should be reconstructed bacause it can cause malocclusion, decreased masticatory efficiency, articulation disorders, esthetic problem, and temporomandibular disorder. Valplast$^{(R)}$(Valplast International Corp, New York, USA) flexible denture is useful for rehabilitation due to its excellent physical properties, esthetics, and small volume. This case is regardingan intellecturally disabled patient with anarticulation disorder caused by missing lower incisors due to trauma. The patient showed improvement in articulation by using flexible partial denture. The purpose of this report is to figure out the influence of missing lower anterior teeth on articulation.

  • The purpose of this study was to know the characteristics of DDK performance between CV(e.g. 'pa') and VV(e.g., 'ai') syllables in typically developing children aged 4 to 6 years old. 12 TD children performed DDK with CV structure(/pʰə/, /tʰə/, /kʰə/, /pʰətʰə/, /tʰəkʰə?/, /pʰətʰəkʰə/) and with VV structure(/ai/, /ɔi/, /ɑɔi/). Spoken syllables were counted in one second, and all spoken DDK were measured by PC-quirer. The results showed that all spoken DDK became faster as the age of children were increased. This trend was also appeared in both CV and VV syllables repetition. In addition, there was no differences in DDK rate with CV and VV syllables. The frequency of articulatory error during DDK performance was very high in the age of 3, and there was no pattern in the frequency of articulatory error according to the developmental age.

  • Co-articulation is one of major factors that make connected word recognition difficult. This Study Considers the fact that the head Part Of the following word is changed by the Preceding word in a connection point, by applying the co-articulation model, and adj usting the following word .We choose a critical damping second order linear system for the co-articulation model, combining a one-stage DP matching recognition algorithm with this model, and Investigating the effects. The recognition experiment is carried out for 35 Korean 4 connected digits spoken by 5 male speakers, and recognition rate Is upgraded by 4.7 percent.

  • Speech is a spatiotemporally coordinated structure of constriction actions at discrete articulators such as lips, tongue tip, tongue body, velum, and glottis. Like other human movements (e.g., reaching), each action as a linguistic task is completed by a synergy of involved basic elements (e.g., bone, muscle, neural system). This paper discusses how speech tasks are dynamically related to joints as one of the basic elements in terms of robotics of speech production. Further this introduction of robotics to speech sciences will hopefully deepen our understanding of how speech is produced and provide a solid foundation to developing a physical talking machine.

  • This study investigated the relative effectiveness of letter-based versus syllable-based measures of speech rate and articulation rate in predicting the articulation score, prosody fluency, and rating sum using "English speech data of Koreans for education" from AI Hub. We extracted and analyzed 900 utterances from the training data, including three balanced age groups (13, 19, and 26 years old). The study built three models that best predicted the pronunciation assessment scores using linear mixed-effects regression and compared the predicted scores with the actual scores from the validation data (n=180). The correlation coefficients between them were also calculated. The findings revealed that syllable-based measures of speech and articulation rates were more effective than letter-based measures in all three pronunciation assessment categories. The correlation coefficients between the predicted and actual scores ranged from .65 to .68, indicating the models' good predictive power. However, it remains inconclusive whether speech rate or articulation rate is more effective.
