  • This study is to analyse Korean map inserted in the "Gwandong Gwanseo-jido(關東 關西地圖)" which is reserved in the Gyujanggak Archives as the mother edition of Korean Map("朝鮮圖") in Kangxi Atlas made in Qing dynasty. Map in Gyujanggak is very similar to the Korean map in the Kangxi atlas in terms of shape of southern part of Korean peninsula, boundary of provinces. Especially over 80% of place names on two maps are coincident and over 90% of islands names are identical. It is revealed that map in the Gyujanggak Archive is the most similar map to the Kangxi Atlas in Korea. This map was produced in 1729~1736 which is late compared to the Kangxi Atlas. This difference of production period shows that mother editon of map in Gyujanggak is the base map of Korean Map in Kangxi atlas. The similarity and differences between those maps show the process of edition of geography in the produce the Kangxi atlas. And map in Gyujanggak shows that production of new type of Korean whole map was began in the late $17^{th}$ century.

  • In Korea, Jeongho Kim is the most noted scholar who studied on a map and a topography during the 19th century. He arranged the merit and the defect of the former maps systematically through such studies and made Cheonggudo(‘do’ means an atlas) in 1834. Accordingly, it reflected the result of many scholars's efforts to make accurate a complete map of Joseon. Especially, it referred to Haedongyeojido which had been made during 1776-1787. Of course, Haedongyeojido also referred to Joseonjido which had been made by Gyeongjun Sin(1712-1781) in 1770. Jeongho Kim did not copy Haedongyeojido as it was but edited it newly.

  • This paper is to classify old county-maps of Dongrae-bu(東萊府), Busan in late-Chosun dynasty and to analyze place names in maps comparatively. 26 maps covering Dongrae-bu were collected from the old county-map atlas(郡縣地圖帖) and Eupji(邑誌). By e comparative analysis of contents, those maps can be classified into four types. The first type(named 'Haedong-Jido(海東地圖)') included 7 county-maps in which information of military, and administrative contents are mainly mapped. The second type(named 'Yeongnam-do(嶺南地圖)') included 5 coon maps in which information about beacon routes and road systems were regarded as very important. The third type(named 'Grid-system map(方眼式地圖)') included 4 county-maps which were drawn as same scale with 20-ri(理) grids. The fourth type(named 'Local Count-map(地方郡懸地圖)') included 7 county maps which were drawn by local mappers. Comparative analysis of place names between those four types revealed that Grid-system maps were developed toward the large scale whole map of Korea in the 19th century.

  • Since most information is readily available these days, the shear volume of the information simply overwhelms people, rather than helping them as a form of useful knowledge. Thus, the quantity of information someone owns doesn't possess much significance. The possibility to well-utilize the quality information is much more important these days. Electronic culture map service is being provided these days to introduce various cultural information to people around the world. But its service is limited to 'visualization, collection, and integration of the data.' Which means, electronic culture maps are no more than a simple data collector. The main purpose of this thesis is to develop a new kind of knowledge/information service method which overcomes these shortcomings. To achieve this goal, at first, the thesis will take a close look at the characteristics and functions of Chosunjock culture maps, and then, it will clarify the definition of data, information, knowledge of cultural resources. And secondly, nd thirdly, the thesis will look up the Wayfinding contents, User Experience Design, User Context, and Organic design for knowledge/information service. And lastly, the thesis will develop the knowledge/information service, specifically based on Chosunjock cultural resources.
