Study of the Problems and Improvements of the Installation and Maintenance for Natural Smoke Ventilators in Buildings (국내 배연창 설치 및 유지관리의 문제점과 개선방안에 관한 연구)

  • In the event of a building fire, it is important to control the smoke generated to ensure the safe evacuation of occupants. A natural smoke ventilator should be installed to exhaust the fire smoke in accordance with the Korean building Act and Code. On the other hand, the present law does not specify the contents regarding natural smoke ventilators sufficiently. The problems that occur in various parts, such as the installation target, installation location, free area, and the control and maintenance of natural smoke ventilators need to be solved. In this study, the problem of the current system was examined through domestic and foreign standards, preliminary research, and field investigations. In addition, suggestions for improvement are provided.

The Effects of Auto-mobile Tinting upon Driver's Responses (자동차 창유리의 가시광선 투과율에 따른 운전반응의 정확도)

  • The purpose of this study was to find out the effects of auto-mobile tinting upon driver's cognitive responses and behaviors through two laboratory experiments, a field experiment and a traffic accident data. The results of two laboratory experiments showed that there were higher false alarm responses under the conditions of 65%, 50%, 35% tinting level than thoses under the 100% level condition. It was also shown that the drivers who had bad sight made more missing responses than the drivers who had normal vision. The main results of the laboratory experiment were repliceted through both the field experiment and the survey research of car accidents. The results of this study were discussed in terms of the previous studies performed abroad. We strongly suggested 70% tinting level as a regulation standard for safe driving and the strategies for implementing the regulation rule.

  • This study examined the perception of gifted teachers toward 'conception of creativity personality education,' 'methodology of creativity personality education,' and 'support of creativity personality education' in the future gifted education. As a result, gifted teachers conceptualized creativity personality education as education to foster creative social capitals(social + moral leaders), which showed movement from gifted education focused on cognitive development into future-developmental orientation. Gifted teachers mentioned education to foster social sensitivity, creativity, and leadership as methodology of creativity personality education. More specifically, they recommended inductive curriculum in learning and teaching in order to encourage domain-specific giftedness. As pointing not to separate creativity personality education for gifted from a formal education but to deploy with conjunction with it, gifted teachers mentioned the social recognition for creativity personality education and the development of teacher's professionalism and educational programs.

Changgyeongwon as a Modern Urban Park (근대적 도시 공원으로서 창경원)

  • This article explores Changgyeongwon's spatial and cultural characteristics that were created there as the first modern urban park in Kyeongseong in the Japanese colonial era. First, in point of comparison regarding a colonial historical view, the study tried to understand the background of Changgyeongwon's establishment as well as three aspects of Changgyeongwon's characteristics as a modern urban park. The study found that; First, foreign envoys and high ranking members had visited Changgeongwon in the early opening period. This shows that this site was a park for foreign propaganda and modern display. Second, Changgyeongwon was altered as a place of enlightenment in the 1920s. This is related to the tendency of Changgyeongwon's increasing popularity around this period. More facilities and events particularly for women and children were offered at that time. Third, investigating the historical records, Changgyeongwon's cultural characters as a park are discussed. Changgyeongwon was an important place creating a modern park culture in Kyeongseong in the colonial era.

Developmental Study of an Instrument for STEAM Education Key Competencies (STEAM 교육의 핵심역량 조사도구 개발)

  • This study developed an instrument for measuring STEAM education effectiveness focused on key competencies of STEAM. This study performed literature reviews on the prior studies associated with the STEAM education and completed a pilot instrument through reflective reviews by external experts. A pilot study was administered to a total of 408 students and finalized by statistical analyses such as reliability check and exploratory factor analysis. The factors of the final instrument were identified as convergence (seven items), creativity (eleven items), challenge (five items), and care (nine items). The Cronbach' ${\alpha}$ for each construct ranged from .849 to .929 turned out to be reliable. This instrument can be utilized for measuring the effectiveness of the STEAM education on students' key competencies.
