  • $\alpha,\omega-Vinyl$ poly (dimethyl-methylphenyl) siloxane prepolymer (VPMPS ) was prepared by the equilibrium polymerization of octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane $(D_4)$, 1,3,5-trimethyl-1,3,5-triphenylcyclotrisiloxane $(D_3^{Me,Ph)$, and 1,1,3,3-tetramethyl-1,3-divinyldisiloxane (MVS). And also, of $\alpha,\omega-hydrogen$ poly(dimethyl-methyl)siloxane prepolymer (HPDMS) as end blocker was prepared from octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane $(D_4)$, 1,3,5-trimethylcyclotrisiloxane $(D_3^:Me,H})$, and 1,1,3,3-tetramethyldisiloxane (MS). Nickel ferrite nanoparticles having spinel magnetic material was prepared by the sol-gel method using PAA as a chelating agent. Poly(organosiloxane) rubber nanocomposite containing silica and nickel ferrite ultrafine powder modified with 1,3-divinyltetramethyldisilazane (VMS) was prepared by compounding VPMPS, HPDMS, and catalyst in high speed dissolver. The mechanical properties, heat dissipating away characteristics, and volume resistivities for POX-30 and POX-50 were measured.

  • Thin films of $PbTiO_3$ were deposited on bare silicon wafers by the sol-gel process. Heat treatment of films was executed at temperature range from $400^{\circ}C$ to $750^{\circ}C$ to investigated its effect on the crystal structure and element distribution of $PbTiO_3$films. Only the perovskite structure was observed in the films annealed at $440^{\circ}C$ but pyrochlore structure was partially found at temperature range from $480^{\circ}C to 550^{\circ}C$. Thin films annealed at temperatures higher than $600^{\circ}C$ showed only the perovskite structure again but also showed the increasing loss of lead.

  • This study proposed an improved center array-sequencing phase unwrapping (ICASPU) algorithm. 2% agarose phantom dopped with 0.6mM/l MnCl2 was used with clinical 1.5T MRI system and commercial knee coil. Obtained k-space data(raw-data) was transmitted to PC and reconstructed into phase image with MATLAB software. Previous center array-sequence phase unwrapping algorithm wascompared with proposed ICASP algorithm using second order regression analysis. As a result, we found that the amount of error on proposed ICASPU method is less about 5 times than that of previous CASPU method. In this study, we exploit improved Center array-sequence phase unwrapping algorithm and expect to apply to images including phase informations.

  • A procedure for the direct detection of (1-3)-$\beta$-glucanase isozymes in electrophoresis gels was developed. The procedure employed the commercial preparation of AZCL-pachyman as a chromogenic substrate for (1-3)-$\beta$-glucanases. The procedure detected the three basic isozymes which have been known to be expressed in germinating barley kernels. A major acidic and a minor isozymes were also detected in germinating kernels. The procedure was proved to be fast, simple and sensitive enough to be used for the analysis of the expression of (1-3)-$\beta$-glucanase isozymes in plant tissues. The detection limit of the procedure for the commercial preparation of Penicillium (1-3)-$\beta$-glucanase was estimated to be as low as 50$\mu$U. The procedure could be used for the investigation of (1-3)-$\beta$-glucanases in laboratories facilitated with ordinary equipments and research personnel.

  • An anagram is a form of word play to find a new word from a set of given alphabet letters. Good human anagram solvers use the strategy of bigrams. They explore a constraint satisfaction network in parallel and answers consequently pop out quickly. In this paper, we propose a molecular computational algorithm using the same process as this. We encoded letters into DNA sequences and made bigrams and then words by connecting the letter sequences. From letters and bigrams, we performed DNA hybridization, ligation, gel electrophoresis and finally, extraction and separation to extract bigrams. From the matched bigrams and words, we performed the four molecular operations again to distinguish between right and wrong results. Experimental results show that our molecular computer can identify cor rect answers and incorrect answers. Our work shows a new possibility for modeling the cognitive and parallel thinking process of a human.

  • Thermostable alkaline protease of alkalophilic Bacillus sp. No. 8-16 has been purified, and the properties of the enzyme investigated. The characteristic point of the organism used is especially good growth in alkaline and thermal condition. The alkaline protease of the strain No. 8-16 was purified from crude enzyme by acetone precipitation, CM-cellulose ion exchange chromatography, Sephadex G-100 and Sephadex G-75 gel filtration. Through the series of chromatograpies, the enzyme was purified to homogeneity with specific activity of 37 fold higher than that of the crude broth. Characteristics of the purified enzyme were as follow; $K_m$ value for the enzyme was 1.3 mg/ml, the alkaline protease showed a maximal activity at 7$0^{\circ}C$ and from the pH 6.0 through 12.0, and stable for 1 hr. at 6$0^{\circ}C$. The moleclar weight of the enzyme was estimated to be 33,000 by Sephadex G-100 gel filtration. The activity of the alkaline protease was inhibited by iodoacetic acid and Ag$^+$, Hg$^+$, PMSF (phenylmethylsulfonyl fluoride), and activated by $Ca^{2+}$ and Mn$^{2+}$.

  • A novel $TiO_2$-Coconut Shell Powder Composite (TCSPS), prepared by the controlled sol-gel method with subsequent heat treatment, was evaluated as an innovative photocatalytic absorbent for the removal of methylene blue. Optimal preparation conditions of TCSPC were obtained by a response surface methodology and a central composite design model. As compared with the results obtained from one-factor-at-a-time experiments, the values were approximated to the nearest condition of these values and the following experimental parameters were set as the optimum : $600^{\circ}C$ calcination temperature and 20 g of coconut shell powder loading amount.

  • Ionic liquid immobilized on mesoporous amorphous silica was prepared from the coupling of 1-(triethoxysilylpropyl)-3-n-alkyl-imidzolium halides with tetraethyl orthosilicate(TEOS) through template-free condensation under strong acidic conditions. The immobilized 1-n-butyl-3-methyl imidazolium bromide ionic liquid on amorphous silica(BMImBr-AS) was proved to be an effective heterogeneous catalyst for the synthesis of dimethyl carbonate(DMC) from transesterification of ethylene carbonate(EC) with methanol. High temperature, high carbon dioxide pressure and long reaction time were favorable for the reactivity of BMImBr-AS. Kinetic studies based on two step reactions revealed that the proposed reaction model fitted well the experimental data. The apparent activation energy was estimated to be 67.4 kJ/mol.

  • Sol-Gel derived ferroelectric Pb(Z $r_{0.52}$ $Ti_{0.48}$) $O_{3}$ thin films have been fabricated on Pt/Ti/ $SiO_{2}$/Si substrate. Two kinds of fast annealing methods, F-I (six times of intermediate and final annealing) and F-II(one final annealing after six times of intermediate annealing) were used for preparation of multi-coated PZT thin films. As the annealing temperature was increased, high capacitance could be obtained, for instance, 2700.angs.-thick PZT thin film annealed at 680.deg. C had a capacitance value of approximately 20nF at 1kHz. In addition, it is found that the dielectric constant is a function of the perovskite phase fraction. In case of F-I method, PZT thin film had a remanent polarization(Pr) of 8-15.mu.C/c $m^{2}$ and a coercive field( $E_{c}$) of 35-44kV/cm according to annealing temperature, whereas PZT film fabricated by F-II method had as high as 24-25.mu.C/c $m^{2}$ and 48-59kV/cm, respectively. As a result of measuring Curie temperature, PZT thin film had a range of 460-480.deg. C by F-I method and more or less higher range of 525-530.deg. C by F-II method, which implied that different microstructures could cause the different Curie temperature. Through I-V measurement, leakage current of PZT thin film fabricated by F-I and F-II methods was 64nA/c $m^{2}$ and 2.2.mu.A/c $m^{2}$ in the electric field of 100kV/cm, respectively.y.y.y.
