Evaporation characteristics of single butanol gel fuel were investigated in different mass ratios of gellant and ambient temperatures. Gel fuel was made by adding the pure water and hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose (HPMC) into the 1-butanol. Increase of viscosity was observed when the loading of HPMC increased. The evaporation process of gel droplet could be divided into three stages: droplet heating, micro-explosion and crust formation. Elevation of ambient temperature helped boost the evaporation in all experimental cases, but the effect was mitigated when the mass ratio of HPMC increased. Increase of HPMC weight ratio reduced the evaporation rate.

This study was conducted to determine the effect of pH adjustment and addition of sodium chloride (NaCl) on quality characteristics of pork leg surimi. The pork leg surimi was manufactured with one of following pH 3.0 or pH 11.0 adjustment and contained 2% NaCl or not; C (Alaska pollack surimi, two times washing, 0% NaCl), T1 (pork leg surimi pH 3.0 adjustment, 0% NaCl), T2 (pork leg surimi, pH 3.0 adjustment, 2% NaCl), T3 (pork leg surimi, pH 11.0 adjustment 0% NaCl), T4 (pork leg surimi, pH 11.0 adjustment, 2% NaCl). The $L^*$ and W values was increased with increasing of pH value, but the $a^*$ and $b^*$ values lower. The W values were higher (p<0.05) as addition of NaCl, but $a^*$ and $b^*$ values were lower. In textural properties, the cohesiveness was increased with increasing of pH value, however with the exception of springiness all traits were higher (p<0.05) as addition of NaCl. The breaking force and gel strength was increased with increasing of pH value. The breaking force, gel strength and breaking force u deformation were higher as addition of NaCl, but shear force lower. In sensory evaluation, the tenderness was increased with increasing of pH value and all traits of sensory evaluation also were higher (p<0.05) as addition of NaCl. There were no differences in interaction of pH adjustment and without or with NaCl on color, textural properties, breaking force, deformation, gel strength, shear force and sensory evaluation of pork leg surimi. The color, textural and physical characteristics and sensory evaluation ot T2 and T4 were similar to treatment C. Therefore, the pH 11.0 and 2% NaCl addition on process of manufacture of pork leg surimi would be recommended.

This study described about method that forms liquid crystal gel (LCG) by main ingredient with hydrogenated lechin (HL) in O/W emulsion system. Result of stability test is as following with most suitable LCG's composition. Composition of LCG is as following, to form liquid crystal, an emulsifier used 4.0wt% of cetostearyl alcohol (CA) by 4.0wt% of HL as a booster. Moisturizers contained 2wt% of glycerin and 3.0wt% of 1,3-butylene glycol (1,3-BG). Suitable emollients used 3.0wt% of cyclomethicone, 3.0wt% of isononyl isononanoate (ININ), 3.0wt% of cerpric/carprylic triglycerides (CCTG), 3.0wt% of macademia nut oil (MNO) in liquid crystal gel formation. On optimum conditions of LCG formation, the pHs were formed all well under acidity or alkalinity conditions (pH=4.0-11.0). Considering safety of skin, pH was the most suitable 6.0${\pm}$1.0 ranges. The stable hardness of LCG formation appeared best in 32 dyne/$\textrm{cm}^2$. Particle of LCG is forming size of 1-20$\mu\textrm{m}$ range, and confirmed that the most excellent LCG is formed in 1-6$\mu\textrm{m}$ range. According to result that observe shape of LCG with optical or polarization microscope, LCG could was formed, and confirmed that is forming multi -layer lamellar type structure around the LCG. Moisturizing effect measured clinical test about 20 volunteers. As a result, moisturizing effect of LCG compares to placebo cream was increased 36.6%. This could predicted that polyol group is appeared the actual state because is adsorbed much to round liquid crystal droplets to multi-lamellar layer's hydrophilic group. It could predicted that polyol group is vast quantity present phase that appear mixed because is adsorbed to round liquid crystal to multi-lamellar layer's hydrophilic group. This LCG formation theory may contribute greatly in cosmetics and pharmacy industry development.
The properties of sodium silicate solution were surveyed by using the yellow silicomolybdic method, and the formation of silica sol from sodium silicate solution and the growth of silica sol were investigated in this study. The $SiO_2$ content of 2 wt% in sodium silicate solution was proper to oxidize sodium silicate with sulfuric acid. After the removal of sodium ions in sodium silicate solution, the pH of silicate solution had to be controlled above 9 for the stabilization of silicate solution. The condensation between silicic acid species and silica nuclei surfaces has been studied at $20{\sim}80^{\circ}C$ and pH 10 in silicate solutions with silica nuclei. The reaction falls into two kinetics regimes, limited at high silicic acid species concentration by polymerization, but at lower concentration by a process whereby deposited silicic acid species condenses further to silica. The overall condensation is first-order in silicic acid species concentration, proceeded toward to pseudo equilibrium concentration, $C_x$, rather than the solubility of amorphous silica. The heat of solution of amorphous silica was 3.34 kcal/mol and exhibits an Arrhenius temperature dependence with an apparent activation energy of 3.16 kcal/mol in the range of $20{\sim}80^{\circ}C$.
A field effect transistor(FET) type dissolved carbon dioxide($pCO_{2}$) sensor with a double layer structure of hydrogel membrane and $CO_{2}$ gas permeable membrane was fabricated by utilizing a $H^{+}$ ion selective field effect transistor(pH-ISFET) with Ag/AgCl reference electrode as a base chip. Formation of hydrogel membrane with photo-crosslinkable PVA-SbQ or PVP-PVAc/photosensitizer system was not suitable with the photolithographic process. Furthermore, hydrogel membrane on pH-ISFET base chip could be fabricated by photolithographic method with the aid of N,N,N',N'-tetramethyl othylenediarnine(TED) as $O_{2}$ quencher without using polyester film as a $O_{2}$ blanket during UV irradiation process. Photosensitive urethane acrylate type oligomer was used as gas permeable membrane on top of hydrogel layer. The FET type $pCO_{2}$ sensor fabricated by photolithographic method showed good linearity (linear calibration curve) in the range of $10^{-3}{\sim}10^{0}\;mol/{\ell}$ of dissolved $CO_{2}$ in aqueous solution with high sensitivity.
In order to eventually fabricate an analytical system for infectious microorganisms, we synthesized major immunochemical components, utilized them for the construction of model system, and investigated an assay concept for bacterial whole cells. For the preparation of system components, a polyclonal antibody, against Salmonella thompson as model analyte, purified by immuno-affinity chromatography was used to chemically link to streptavidin or an enzyme, horseradish peroxidase(HRP). The antibody and streptavidin was modified with sulfosuccinimidyl 4-[N-maleimidomethyl]cyclohexane-1-carboxylate and N-succinimidyl-3-[2-pyridyldithio]propionate(subsequently activated by dithiotheritol), respectively. The modified components were reacted to synthesize antibody-streptavidin conjugates which were then purified on a two-layer chromatography column of diaminobiotin gel and Sephadex G-100. For antibody-HRP conjugates, HRP molecules were activated by $NalO_4$ oxidation and then coupled to immunoglobulin. After stabilizing with ($NaCNBH_3$, the conjugates were purified by size exclusion chromatography on Biogel A5M column. To devise a model system, such produced components were combined with a dot-blotter in which a nitrocellulose membrane($12{\mu}m$ pre size) with immobilized biotin was already located. The analyte (S. thompson cells) was reacted with the both antibody conjugates in a liquid phase, and the complexes formed were captured on the membrane surfaces by applying vacuum in the bottom compartment of the blotter to invoke biotin-streptavidin reaction. Under optimal conditions, the system enabled to identify the analytical concept for bacterial whole cells, and the lower limit of detection was approximately $1{\mu}g/m{\ell}$($10^5-10^6$ cells/m$m{\ell}$). The controlling factors were the concentrations of each antibody conjugate that caused agglutination in the presence of analyte as they increased.

When cystic fluid of Taenia solium metacestodes (CF) was filtrated through Sephacryl S-300 Superfine, major proteins were in fractions III add IV Major protein in fraction III was Band C protein of 150 kDa and that in fraction IV was Band N protein (Choi et of., 1990). When CF was electrophoresed in 0.9% agarose gel and reacted with anti-CF rabbit serum (RACF), two main bands, a long outer and a short inner band, were precipitated, together with 8 minor bands. RACF reacted with fraction III forming the long outer band whereas RACF formed the short infer band with fraction IV in immunoelectrophoresis (IEP) The long outer precipitin band of CF fraction III was similar to antigen B in hydatid fluid (HF) of Oriol et at. (1971), while the short inner band of CF fraction IV was similar to HF antigen 5 of Caption et at. (1967) . When HF was reacted with RACF, the short inner band was immunoprecipitated without forming the long outer band. Common antigenicity between CF and HF seemed to exist in fraction IV rather than in fraction III of CF. Patient sera of neurocysticercosis reacted more frequently with fraction III than with fraction IV.

Tissue origin of individual component proteins in crude extract of adult Paragonimus westermani was investigated. Major soluble component proteins were separated by disc-PAGE in 8% slab gel. By predefined Rf values, strips of gel containing each band protein was cut out. Each band protein was eluted by electrophoresis. Monospecific antibodies were prepared by immunizing rabbits with each band protein. When peroxidase-antiperoxidase (PAP) staining was done, antiserum to Band 1 reacted to content of eggs both in the worm and in the infected lung tissue. Antiserum to Band 2 reacted to parenchymal tissue of the worm. Antiserum to Band 4 showed the positive reaction at intestinal content while that to Band 5 reacted to the intestinal epithelial border. Antiserum to combined proteins of Bands 617 and that to Band 8 reacted to parenchymal tissue of the worm respectively. From the results, the origin of individual proteins in crude extract of adult P. westermani could be differentiated.
In spite of high ionic conductivity, the polymer gels have poor mechanical properties and high reactivity with lithium metal anode. To solve these problems, the dry solid systems and polymer composites have been intensively studied, due to their good mechanical, thermal, chemical, and electrochemical stability. The objectives of this experiment were to improve ionic conductivity and mechanical properties of the solid polymer electrolytes based on PEO-LiClO$_4$. To obtain higher ionic conductivity and better mechanical properties, ceramic or rubber phase was added in the PEO-LiClO$_4$(8:1) matrix. The results showed that ionic conductivity and mechanical properties were improved. The ionic conductivity of the samples was as high as 10$\^$-5/ S cm$\^$-1/. This value is similar to the best ionic conductivity ever reported in the solid drying system. To obtain better results, we used PEO with various molecular weights (600∼8000) and changed the salt contents. By using DSC, we found that the addition of salt reduced the crystallinity of PEO. The mobility of polymer dependence on salt contents was examined by FT-IR.
