This research works has newly proposed ideation method for development of innovative product design by using four design thinking framework in the aesthetic issue, material issue, function & structure issue which are usually called three major design issues. The four design thinking framework is consisted of eliminate, reduce, raise and create. This research also analyzed 232 innovation products in order to verify the proposed ideation method. The main outputs of this research are as follows; first, the ideation method which was newly developed in this research can help to create new ideas for innovation product design. Second, 41% existed innovation product designs were developed based on the ideation in the 'function & structure' issue. Three, 74% existed innovation product designs were developed based on the 'raise & create' issue rather than 'eliminate & reduce' issue. The results of this research can help a designer who wants create new innovation product.
Recent studies focus on how open innovation strategies affect innovation in enterprises, but lack research related to the forms of openness. There is also a paradox that an entity should open up for open innovation but also protect its innovation. In this regard, the need for research on innovation protection has expanded. Therefore, this study looked at the effect of the form of openness on product innovation, and explored how the relationship between the form of openness and product innovation depends on the appropriation mechanisms. This study used data from the Korean Innovation Survey(KIS), which was developed and distributed by the OECD. The main findings of this study are summarized as follows. First, the forms of openness has a positive effect on product innovation. Specifically, external search has had a positive impact on exploitative innovation, and collaboration has shown to have a positive impact on exploratory innovation. Second, the appropriation mechanisms has a positive moderating effect on the relationship between the forms of openness and product innovation. Specifically, it was shown that formal appropriation mechanisms had a positive effect on the relationship between external search and product innovation, and that informal appropriation mechanisms had a positive effect on the relationship between collaboration and exploratory innovation. This study is expected to contribute to: First, this study has divided the forms of openness into external search and collaboration, unlike the existing method, and thus identified the type of product innovation and the appropriation mechanisms and forms of openness by identifying the impact on product innovation. Second, depending on the characteristics of the appropriation mechanisms, it was identified that it had the moderating effect on the forms of openness and the relationship of product innovation, so that depending on the type of openness and the type of product innovation, the type of appropriation mechanisms more suitable was identified.

This study examines the mediating effect of product innovation on the relationship between product development strategy implementation and product development performance of business ventures. The previous researches on product development has mainly focused on the role of venture firms' technological capabilities or that of entrepreneurship in product development. Although there are many important discussions related to the product development of business venture, a more discussion on the relationship between product development strategy implementation and performance of product development is needed. The purpose of current study is to examine the relationship between the entrepreneurial orientation and the R&D department on product development performance. To confirm the model of Day & Wensley(1988) that product novelty mediates the relationship between product development strategy and product development performance. The research results of 703 Korean business ventures suggest that the implementation strategies for product development such as utilizing entrepreneurial orientation and R&D department are more effective for business ventures in terms of product development performance. Also product novelty was prove to be a mediator that intervene the relationships between implementation of product development strategy and product development performance. Those findings may provide implications for whom has interested in the relationship between entrepreneurship and product development performance of business ventures. The differences in between new and existing product performance from the implementation strategy of product development may provide implications for practitioners who understand the process of product development.
This study is concerned with the factors that influence the radicalness of new product development by firms. The innovativeness of firms' new product development differs in their frequency and radicalness. Based on previous research on product innovations, this study provides a hypothetical model that links firms' internal variables and external relations variables to the radicalness of product innovation, which in turn is linked to marketing performance. For an empirical analysis, the data were collected from South Korean firms. The result of this study provides evidence that the stronger is firms' management attitude toward risk taking, marketing competency, and technical competency, the higher is the possibility of radical product innovation. It also shows that, contrarily to the hypothesis, firms with collective reward system rather than individual reward system are more likely to develop radically new products. This study also shows that the better are firms' R & D collaboration with suppliers and interfaces with customers, the higher is the possibility of radical product innovation.
The meaning of innovative products pursued by pluralized societies is transforming. In the past, the markets were opened up after the products were released through various development strategies based on the needs of development. Recently, however, even the launching process of innovative products is differently operated and strategies with directions completely different from the past are used. In this regard, the paper aims to predict successful markets of innovative products in the future by analyzing the successful strategic cases of innovative products from both the past and the present. The following are the methodology and results of this study. - Conduct a case study and an analysis on which strategies were implemented after the release of successful innovative products in the past. - Conduct a case study and an analysis on the markets and launching trends of innovative products that were successful fairly recently. By reviewing the operation system of innovative products for each time period, it is assumed that startup companies releasing innovative products in the future will engage in the mass production of products through a pre-approval and post-production system, via overseas crowd funding. Moreover, we can expect that systems for partnerships between startups and conglomerates will be prepared in Korea within the near future. If we accurately perceive the operation trends related to the release of innovative products that come into existence by experiencing extreme changes, shortcuts to success will be available for startup companies preparing for such future.

The Innovation Procurement Policy was introduced as part of the strategic public procurement policy to improve firms' innovation capabilities and enhance the public sector's ability to solve social problems by designating and purchasing so-called 'innovative products.' The pilot procurement project for innovative products was first introduced in 2019, and the policy system for designating and discovering innovative products by government departments, as well as the priority purchase system, was established in 2020. Hence, this study conducted a quantitative analysis focusing on the effectiveness of the innovation procurement system in supporting firms after it was fully implemented. For this purpose, corporate financial and employment data from 2017 to 2021 were used, and propensity score matching(PSM) and difference-in-difference(DID) methods were utilized as analytical tools. The study found that the innovation procurement system contributed to corporate growth and employment and created additional public and private sales channels. Moreover, it is necessary to enhance the innovation procurement system, such as matching innovative product-producing companies with existing SME support policies, for companies to become self-sustaining after the innovative product designation ends.
Awe is recognized as an emotion linked to enhancing openness to new experiences and broadening one's cognitive perspective through the acquisition of new knowledge. This research aimed to investigate awe's impact on consumer behavior in advertising, using a 2 (emotion: awe/control) × 2 (product type: innovative/non-innovative) experimental design with 118 undergraduate students in Seoul, Korea. Findings revealed that awe-inducing advertising significantly increases product preference and positive technology readiness, particularly for innovative products compared to non-innovative ones or when awe is not elicited. The analysis of moderated mediation showed that positive technology readiness plays a mediating role in the relationship between awe induction and product preference. Notably, in the case of innovative products, awe-inducing advertising heightens positive technology readiness, subsequently increasing consumer preference for these products. These results reinforce existing literature on awe's positive effects, demonstrating its role in augmenting consumers' favorable attitudes toward innovative products. The study offers valuable insights for marketing strategies of companies promoting innovative products or services, highlighting the effectiveness of awe-inducing emotional appeals in shaping consumer attitudes towards innovation.
