Fabrication of long SmBCO coated conductor on IBAD-MgO template using co-evaporation method (동시증발법을 이용한 SmBCO/IBAD-MgO 박막 장선재 제조)

  • We fabricated SmBCO coated conductors(CCs) on IBAD-MgO templates using co-evaporation method. IBAD-MgO templates consist of PLD-LMO/epi-MgO/IBAD-MgO/Ni-alloy and showed good in-plane texture of below FWHM 7 degree. Evaporation rates of Sm, Ba, and Cu were precisely controlled to get the optimum composition ratio after deposition process. To optimize the oxygen partial pressure of reaction region, wide range of the partial pressure was investigated from 1 mTorr to 15 mTorr. By reducing the oxygen partial pressure to 5mTorr, (103)grains in SmBCO layer have been increased. On the other hand, there were only (001)grains in SmBCO layer deposited at 15 mTorr $O_2$. Deposition temperature was also investigated from $600^{\circ}C\;to\;800^{\circ}C$ to make high Ic SmBCO CCs. SmBCO on IBAD MgO template showed that the Ic increased gradually at higher growth temperature to $800^{\circ}C$, which the highest Jc and Ic is $2.6\;MA/cm^2$ and 500 A/cm-w., respectively.

Synthesis of Na-A type Zeolite From Melting Slag (소각재 용융슬래그를 이용한 제올라이트 Na-A의 합성)

  • Na-A zeolite were synthesized from melting slag of the incinerated ash by the alkaline activation processes. The experiments were performed in stainless steel vessels, with continuous stirring during the reaction periods. The silica-rich solution, a starting material, which was the waste of crystal growth factory, contains 5.7 wt% SiO₂ and 3.2 wt% Na₂O. And NaAlO₂ was made by the reaction of aluminium dross and NaOH solution and its molar ratios were Na₂O/Al₂O₃= 1.2 and H₂O/Na₂O=9. During the residence time of 7∼8 h at 80℃, the mixing of the silica-rich solution, NaAlO₂ and melting slag yields the production of homogeneous Na-A zeolite. The optimal reactant composition in molar ratio of Na₂O:Al₂O₃:SiO₂ was 1.3∼l.4 : 0.8∼0.9 : 2 and mixing ratio of solution and slag was 1/7∼10 (g/cc). Synthesized Na-A zeolite has cubic form uniformly and its size ranges about 1 ㎛. Ca/sup 2+/ ion exchange capacity of the Na-A was about 180∼210 meq/100g, corresponding approximately 80% to the commercial detergent builder.

Acid Treatment of Melting Slag and Its Hydrothermal Reaction (산처리한 생활폐기물 용융슬래그의 수열반응 특성)

  • Melting slag generated from municipal-incinerator ash contains lots of impurities which have adverse effects on zeolite synthesis. These impurities are detrimental to zeolite synthesis, and the yield and purity of zeolite was decreased. And thus its performance is lowered. In melting slag, there are lots of components such as $Fe_2O_3$, FeO and CaO. To remove these impurities, we treated the melting slag with hydrochloric acid at initial pH 1, 3, 5, and 7. After the treatment, the $SiO_2,\;Fe_2O_3,\;and\;TiO_2$ ratios increased, but the $Al_2O_3,\;FeO,\;CaO,\;Na_2O$ and MgO ratios decreased. We reacted these treated slag in a NaOH solution under hydrothermal conditions at $80^{\circ}C$. The hydrothermal products from the slag and the slag treated at pH 7 and pH 5 were determined to be tobermorite, whereas those at pH 3 and pH 1, Na-P1 and Na-X zoelite respectively. CaO was found to inhibit the synthesis of zeolite.

Occupational Exposure of Semiconductor Workers to ELF Magnetic Fields (반도체 제조 근로자의 극저주파 자기장 노출 평가)

  • Objectives: To compare the exposure level of extremely low frequency (ELF) magnetic fields among semiconductor workers, shipyard welders and office workers. Methods: To measure the ELF magnetic field concentration, EMDEX LITE (Enertech, USA) were used and monitored for eight hours continuously. Five companies handling the electric and magnetic field (EMF) source were investigated, which the exposure groups were classified into three groups: semiconductor workers, welders, and office workers. Welder group was chosen as a high exposed group and office group as a low exposed group. Results: The arithmetic mean (${\pm}SD$) and geometric mean (GSD) of personal exposure level of semiconductor workers were 0.73 (${\pm}1.33$) ${\mu}T$, 0.43 (2.88) ${\mu}T$, respectively. The ceiling value ranged between 0.18 and 123.2 ${\mu}T$. Welders were exposed high with the arithmetic mean value of 3.46 (${\pm}\;13.46$) ${\mu}T$ and geometric mean value of 0.45 (4.70) ${\mu}T$, respectively, and ceiling value range of 75.5~129.6 ${\mu}T$. The exposure levels of office workers were low compared to other exposed groups; the arithmetic mean 0.05 (${\pm}0.13$) ${\mu}T$, geometric mean 0.03 (2.38) ${\mu}T$ and ceiling value range 0.37~3.35 ${\mu}T$. This study revealed statistically significant differences of the mean ELF magnetic field exposure doses among three groups (p < 0.01). Conclusions: The average ELF magnetic field exposure doses of semiconductor workers were much higher than those of office workers in control group, but were lower than those of welders in high exposure group.

  • The methane dry reforming has received the considerable attention in recent years, mainly as an attractive route to produce synthesis gas (CO, $H_2$) from green-house gases ($CH_4$, $CO_2$) for resources. However, this process has not been commercialized due to the high temperature and catalyst deactivation. In this study, Co-Ru-Zr catalysts supported on $SiO_2$ were studied for the characterization of methane dry reforming reaction and the preliminary data for process development were achieved. The crystal structure of catalysts was measured by XRD, the surface area and pore size were analyzed by BET, and the element composition of catalyst were analyzed by EDS. Conversions of methane and carbon dioxide were analyzed by GC. In addition, reaction rate constants were obtained from the reaction kinetic study and the optimum catalyst size that does not affect mass transfer from reactants was also determined. The selected pellet-type catalyst maintained activation for 720 h at $850^{\circ}C$.

Development of Alginic Acid Hydrolysate as a Natural Food Preservative for Fish Meat Paste Products (알긴산 가수분해물을 이용한 어육연제품용 천연 식품보존료의 개발)

  • It has been reported that alginic acid hydrolysate retains antimicrobial activity but the enzyme which hydrolyze alginic acid is not developed for industrial use. The authors developed chemical method for hydrolyzing alginic acid. For preparing alginic acid hydrolysate, equal quantity of alginic acid and ascorbic acid were added to water. Then the solution was heated at $121^{\circ}C$ for $20{\sim}30{\;}minutes$. The 4% solution of alginic acid hydrolysate was revealed relative viscosity 1.05, pH 3.2 and opaque whitish-yellow color. By addition of this hydrolysate to nutrient broth with the concentration of 0.1%, the growth of Bacillus sp. isolated from fish meat paste products was inhibited. The fish meat paste products containing 0.3% alginic acid hydrolysate prepared were prolonged their shelf life by 1 day stored at $30^{\circ}C$, 2 days at $20^{\circ}C$ and 4 days at $15^{\circ}C$.

Decrease in Intrinsic Objectionable Odors and Change of Gastrodin Contents in Lactic acid Treated Gastrodia elate Blume (젖산 처리에 따른 천마의 불쾌취 감소 및 Gastrodin 함량 변화)

  • This study was carried out to decrease intrinsic objectionable odor, bitter and fishy taste and change the biobeneficial components (gastrodin and p-hydroxybenzyl alcohol) of Gastrodia elate Blume. First of all, Gastrodia elata Blume. was dipped in the rice-washed water and rice-bran solution fermented with Lactobacillus brevis and Lactobacillus plantarum. The objectionable odor, bitter and fishy taste were decreased considerably with the treatments. Gastrodia elata Blume. was also dipped in organic acids (10 different varieties). The result showed that the most effective treatment to reduce objectionable odor, bitter and fishy taste of Gastrodia elata Blume. was treated with 1.0% lactic acid. Eleven different kinds of volatile components such as acetaldehyde, formic acid ethyl ester, acetic acid ethyl ester, 4-methylphenol and 3-hydroxy-2-butanone were separated from Gastrodia elata Blume when treated with or without 1.0% lactic acid. 4-Methylphenol, which is an objectionable odor in Gastrodia elata Blume, decreased with the treatment of lactic acid. While the contents of gastrodin and p-hydroxybenzyl alcohol in Gastrodia elata Blume. increased by 20% when dipped in 1.0% lactic acid solution for 24 hours and steamed at $98^{\circ}C$ for 4 hours.

Color Laser Printer Identification through Discrete Wavelet Transform and Gray Level Co-occurrence Matrix (이산 웨이블릿 변환과 명암도 동시발생 행렬을 이용한 컬러 레이저프린터 판별 알고리즘)

  • High-quality and low-price digital printing devices are nowadays abused to print or forge official documents and bills. Identifying color laser printers will be a step for media forensics. This paper presents a new method to identify color laser printers with printed color images. Since different printer companies use different manufactural systems, printed documents from different printers have little difference in visual. Analyzing this artifact, we can identify the color laser printers. First, high-frequency components of images are extracted from original images with discrete wavelet transform. After calculating the gray-level co-occurrence matrix of the components, we extract some statistical features. Then, these features are applied to train and classify the support vector machine for identifying the color laser printer. In the experiment, total 2,597 images of 7 printers (HP, Canon, Xerox DCC400, Xerox DCC450, Xerox DCC5560, Xerox DCC6540, Konica), are tested to classify the color laser printer. The results prove that the presented identification method performs well with 96.9% accuracy.

Deacidification Effect of Campbell Early Must through Carbonic-Maceration Treatment: Isolation and Properties of the Bacteria Associated with Deacidification (Carbonic Maceration처리에 의한 Campbell Early 발효액의 감산 효과: 감산 관련 미생물의 분리 및 특성)

  • The grape cultivar Campbell Early has high levels of malic acid as well as tartaric acid. The high concentration of total acid in the Campbell Early wine is a critical aspect of the wine's sensory characteristics. To prevent the deterioration of the wine's quality, which is caused by the strong sour taste derived from the raw material in wine making, the deacidification factor was investigated via carbonic maceration under different temperature conditions, especially in the presence or absence of malolactic bacteria. Based on the results of the presence test of the malolactic bacteria during carbonic-maceration treatment, Lactobacillus brevis, Lactobacillus plantarum, and Streptococcus thermophilus were characterized morphologically and were identified via biochemical tests and 16S-rRNA-gene-sequencing analysis. The isolated strains were found not to consume malic acid and to produce lactic acid. Moreover, these strains were consumed as soluble solids. The isolated strains are popularly known as lactic-acid bacteria and should have produced lactic acid from glucose. The Oenococcus oeni of the malolactic bacteria was not isolated. These results showed that the isolated strains are not deacidified during carbonic-maceration treatment.

Innovation Patterns of Machine Learning and a Birth of Niche: Focusing on Startup Cases in the Republic of Korea (머신러닝 혁신 특성과 니치의 탄생: 한국 스타트업 사례를 중심으로)

  • As the Great Reset is discussed at the World Economic Forum due to the COVID-19 pandemic, artificial intelligence, the driving force of the 4th industrial revolution, is also in the spotlight. However, corporate research in the field of artificial intelligence is still scarce. Since 2000, related research has focused on how to create value by applying artificial intelligence to existing companies, and research on how startups seize opportunities and enter among existing businesses to create new value can hardly be found. Therefore, this study analyzed the cases of startups using the comprehensive framework of the multi-level perspective with the research question of how artificial intelligence based startups, a sub-industry of software, have different innovation patterns from the existing software industry. The target firms are gazelle firms that have been certified as venture firms in South Korea, as start-ups within 7 years of age, specializing in machine learning modeling purposively sampled in the medical, finance, marketing/advertising, e-commerce, and manufacturing fields. As a result of the analysis, existing software companies have achieved process innovation from an enterprise-wide integration perspective, in contrast machine learning technology based startups identified unit processes that were difficult to automate or create value by dismantling existing processes, and automate and optimize those processes based on data. The contribution of this study is to analyse the birth of artificial intelligence-based startups and their innovation patterns while validating the framework of an integrated multi-level perspective. In addition, since innovation is driven based on data, the ability to respond to data-related regulations is emphasized even for start-ups, and the government needs to eliminate the uncertainty in related systems to create a predictable and flexible business environment.
