  • Dharavi, located in Mumbai, India, is the largest slum in the world, with over 700,000 people living in one area. The provincial government has selected a private business, and planning to promote Dharavi's redevelopment together. In addition, the Indian government announced three city development initiatives in 2015 and is promoting altogether the nationwide urban development in India, redevelopment projects in existing cities, and housing provision for slum residents. Through incorporating ongoing projects such as DMIC industrial corridor and smart city construction in India to the pharmaceutical industry that India has a comparative advantage over other industries, urban pharmaceutical research & production facility and residential complex is proposed in this paper, to be capable of supplying all occupants in the designated site, as a prototype for possible redevelopment directions.

  • Private Security company concentrated on the commerciality as a for-profit businesses. Even so, his role is concerned with public welfare and public security over personal gain. Establishing a company and the business activities are free and protected by the constitutional law and the commercial law such as natural rights. However, it would be restricted in case of need for the national security affairs, public security violation and public weal problems. On the other hand, even though private security law is a for-profit businesses, the natural rights of the text of the Constitution is ignored and distinct from the different apply the rules for the establishment standard and for the business activities. Also, over a certain size of place and capital are required to establish a private security company. Therefore, this paper will study the public interests and the profits of commerciality for the private security by constitutional law and commercial law which assure and conserve the natural rights and the business activities.

The Information Effect of FDA Approval Announcements on Pharmaceutical and Bio-Health Companies' Stock Prices (FDA 승인 공시가 제약 및 바이오·헬스케어 기업의 주가에 미치는 정보효과)

  • Korean pharmaceutical and bio-health companies began applying for FDA approval in 2000. However, drug companies in South Korea are not required to obtain FDA approval to market their products on the South Korean market, and the approval process is highly resource-intensive. This study utilizes event study methodology to examine the information effect of US FDA approval announcements on the stock prices of pharmaceutical and bio-health companies listed on South Korean stock markets. The study's results show that FDA approval announcements caused abnormal increases in corporate stock prices, indicating that these announcements have a transnational information effect on South Korean companies' value. Furthermore, the results show that the impact of FDA approval announcements on stock prices is greater for small companies than mid-sized and large companies and in bio and healthcare industries than in the traditional pharmaceutical industry. This impact is also more significant on the KOSDAQ (Korea Securities Dealers Automated Quotation) companies than the KOSPI (Korean Composite Stock Price Index) companies and after the expansion of stock price limits. These findings signal that the information effect is more significant when regulatory controls are weaker. The results also indicate that obtaining FDA approval brings above-normal returns for companies and that FDA application is a high-risk, high-return investment.

  • In recent years, machining turns to flexible manufacturing. Industry in machining requires to increase machining productivity and to reduce costs. To adapt this trend it is necessary to optimize machining condition. Even though many researches in this are introduced various way to set the optimal condition, still there are not enough. Therefore this research was done to select the optimal cutting condition for industry, and to develope the computer program to select the optimal cutting condition automatically. Also, this program was applied to many companies, and compare costs per minute. The results of this research will contribute to increase machining productivity of various companies with the automatic selection of optimal cutting condition.

  • 인터넷 웹 기반 교수-학습체제는 학습자 위주의 교육환경으로 변화하였고, 웹 환경에서도 학습자에게는 시간과 공간의 제약에서 벗어나 다양한 교육정보를 접할 수 있는 원격교육시스템이 대두하고 있다. 인터넷의 발달은 교육환경에도 많은 변화를 가져오고 있다. 이러한 변화는 인터넷을 이용한 웹기반 원격교육이 여러 분야에서 폭넓게 응용되고 있음을 대변하는 것이라 할 수 있다. 하지만 기존의 원격강의시스템의 경우 교사가 학습할 내용들을 파일형태로 업로드해 놓으면 학습자가 다운로드하여 쓰는 방식이어서 많은 전송비용과 강의내용 구성이 단순한 텍스트 위주의 형태로 구성되어 학습자의 학습효과가 의문시 되었다. 이는 학습자 위주의 자기 주도학습에 많은 어려움을 유발시켰다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 고등학교 정보산업교과의 [인터넷] 단원에 대한 학습을 체계적으로 언제 어디서나 학습할 수 있도록 이론과 실기강의내용을 웹을 통하여 교육에서 요구되는 음성과 교재 판서의 기능을 웹상에서 구현할 수 있도록 되어 있다. 이런 멀티미디어 자료들이 동기화되어 자기 주도적 학습을 할 수 있는 멀티미디어 원격강의시스템을 구현하였다. 본 연구의 원격강의시스템은 멀티미디어자료 들을 활용한 원격강의시스템이기 때문에 개별화된 교육과 자기 주도적 학습을 통해 시ㆍ공간의 제약을 받지 않고 학습 할 수있는 진정한 원격강의시스템이다.

The impact of the patent through open innovation on the performance of the pharmaceutical and biotechnology firms (글로벌 제약·바이오 기업의 개방형 혁신 특허가 기업 성과에 미치는 영향)

  • Most studies of the effects of corporate patents on managerial performance conducted to date have been based on internally-generated patents. However, global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies acquire patents not only from internal research and development (R&D), but also through university-industry collaboration and purchase. Focusing on this issue, our study collected patents from various sources, including internal R&D, purchased patents, and university-industry collaboration, to examine the real effects more accurately. Additionally, our study used a finite time lag model to consider the time lag between patent and corporate performance. The results of the quantitative analysis of the relationship between patents and corporate financial performance revealed that patent quantitative levels had less impact on sales than other types. However, quantitative patents levels appeared to have a significant impact on market value. Moreover, quantitative patent levels appeared to moderate impact on corporate profit. Patents acquired by internal R&D had the greatest impact on market value, while purchased patents had the greatest impact on corporate profit and sales. The purchased patents had a significant effect on financial performance in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies because of the long time required and expense associated with R&D. Overall, the results of this study provide the basis for global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to configure an optimal patent portfolio.

  • Telematics services are being widely used recently. However, data sharing is restricted because data representations among telematics severs and terminals are not yet standardized. Moreover, changes of some data items can cause the modification of telematics software. To resolve the problem, we define an XML-based markup language, called tele-XML, for the standard representation of telematics data, and design a framework and related schema for the tele-XML. We also implement API libraries and program modules for the processing of tele-XML documents. By using the proposed representation and processing scheme, the previous problem can be resolved.

  • A key challenge for Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) is to maximize the network lifetime with power-efficient and flexible duty cycling techniques on energy-constraint sensor nodes. In this paper, we propose a novel power-efficient MAC protocol for WBAN that accommodates normal, emergency, and on-demand traffic in a reliable manner. This protocol supports two wakeup mechanisms, a traffic-based wakeup mechanism, which accommodates normal traffic by exploiting the node's traffic patterns, and a wakeup radio mechanism, which accommodates emergency and on-demand traffic by using a wakeup radio. It can be seen that the proposed protocol not only improves the lifetime of WBAN but also provides a reliable method to handle sporadic events. Simulation results show that the proposed protocol outperforms WiseMAC in terms of low-power consumption and delay.

  • In addition to the revival of the Internet of Things, embedded systems, which are at the core of the Internet of Things, require intelligent control as things change. Embedded systems, however, are heavily constrained by resources such as hardware, memory, time and power. When changes are needed to firmware in an embedded system, flash Memory must be initialized and the entire firmware must be uploaded again. Therefore, it is time- and energy-efficient in that areas that do not need to be modified must also be initialized and rewritten. In this paper, we propose how to upload firmware in installments to each sector of flash memory so that only firmware can be replace the firmware in the parts that need to be modified when the firmware needs to be modified. In this paper, the proposed method was evaluated using real target board, and as a result, the time was reduced by about half.
