  • This paper conducts a comparative analysis of the KORUS FTA and the TPP Agreement to assess the current state of affairs in international trade rules for the pharmaceutical industry. Intellectual property rights as well as public health related regulations have evolved to strengthen the position of innovator drug companies. In particular, the TPP Agreement which adopted data exclusivity for biologics for the first time, will set the standard for the future. Apart from this however, the TPP Agreement has not gone further than the KORUS FTA and in some respects, even contains greater policy flexibilities and provisions for market access than the KORUS FTA. Korea should take advantage of such differences when and if she must engage in negotiations to join the TPP Agreement or a renegotiation of the KORUS FTA.

  • Trust is generally assumed to be an important precondition for people's adoption of e-government services. This study analyzes the direct and indirect impact of information privacy, interactivity, subjective norms and words-of-mouth on perceived trust of e-government services and trust toward government. The Partial Least Square(PLS) was applied to the citizen survey data for hypotheses testing. PLS permits the simultaneous testing of cause-effect hypotheses while also allowing evaluation of the measurement model. Statistical results indicate that interactivity, subjective norms and words-of-mouth positively affects perceived trust of e-government services, which in turn affects the level of political efficacy and the trust toward the government. Interactivity has been found to affect words-of-mouth as well. However, information privacy has no significant effect on the trust of e-government services.

  • The flaming which is defined as posting deliberately hostile messages online has been perceived as one of the most dangerous behaviors on the Internet. Although the previous research on flaming focused on finding the effects of anonymity and individual differences, more comprehensive explanation is still needed. This research attempted to find social variables which affect the attitude toward and the act of flaming based on the differences between high school and college students. Findings show that both high school and college students are strongly influenced by their affiliated groups in the intention to commit online flaming and past experiences of the number of the acts of flaming. At the same time, vicarious learning was positively associated with high school students, but direct utterance was positively associated with college students. The implications of the study was also discussed.

Through the combination of characteristics of mobile payment, this study also investigated the effect of various independent variables on the intention to use mobile payment including the moderating effect of self-construal. To verify hypotheses of this study, the hierarchical regression analysis based on responses from 188 undergraduate and graduate students was conducted. The significant findings of this study were as follows: TAM variables, user characteristics variables and perceived risk variables had positive influence on the intention to use mobile payment. Self-construal was found to moderate the effect of the perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use and subjective norm. • Multi-culturalization in our society may be the cause of many problems, but if appropriately dealt with, diversity brought on by multi-culturalization could resolve chronic abuses in education and create a new culture, thereby contributing greatly to national development. The purpose of this study was to examine the current research on multi-cultural education and to provide a normative orientation to multi-cultural education. The literature research was conducted between March 2008 and September 2009. The followings are the findings of this study. First, the results reveal that the appropriate target of a multi-cultural society should not be assimilation, but rather, multi-culturalism. Multi-culturalism has greater adaptability, and the key lies in its respect for human rights, its strengthening of multi-cultural capacity, and its consideration for the minority by moving toward corporate multi-culturalism that aims for equality in results. Second, the first form of multi-cultural education emphasizes neutrality and argues that it is the best way to respect different cultures. This form of multi-cultural education emphasizes neutrality toward "sameness." In this context, sameness means equality of the rights of human beings. The other form of multi-cultural education emphasizes diversity and argues that it is the best way to respect different cultures. It focuses on the recognition of particularity. But it reveals its shortcomings when it excludes interaction not only between an individual and the culture, but also between the insider and outsider of the culture and its social institutions. Thus, multi-cultural education for mutual understanding is suggested. Third, it has been found that pure homogeneous nationalism must be destroyed, but nationalism needs to transform itself rather than be abolished in a globalized and multi-cultural society. Moreover, on behalf of pursuing open nationalism, the self-transformation of nationalism is advisable, in order to for it to overcome its antagonistic and exclusive nature.

  • This study has explored the trajectory of the development and diffusion of the CTLs in the Korean universities by using isomorphism theory of neo-institutionalism. Neo-institutional theorists believe that organizational structure and behavior reflects the norms and values recognized in the society rather than the organization's autonomous and rational choices. Based on the isomorphism framework, the introduction and diffusion of the CTLs in the Korean universities have been led by the government. In addition, the CTLS(Korean Association of Center for Teaching & Learning) has served as a direct basis for the normative pressures. In other words, the CTLs have been securing devices for the universities to acquire external justification by the environment, and they have been able to confirm that the system was isomorphed, in particular by meeting and agreeing with the government-set university evaluation criteria. Efforts should be made to develop unique values and strategies that enable CTLs to become engines of the development of university education in response to rapid changes in the academic environment.
