A Study on the Blade Load Measurement of Partial-admission Turbine Cascade (충동형 터빈 캐스케이드의 깃 하중 측정에 관한 연구)

  • An impulse turbine, which is a main component of a liquid rocket engine, needs to be a small size with light weight and generate large power. Since the impulse turbine is being operated under complicated supersonic conditions, flow analysis and performance prediction largely depend on CFD technique. In order to increase the reliability of the prediction code, however, it often requires an experimental data to compare. In this research a rotating turbine rotor with multiple blades is simulated with a two-dimensional stationary cascade to check the effect of major flow parameters. Mach number is measured at nozzle exit by using a pitot tube and the blade thrust was also measured with a load cell. The measured thrust coefficient and the power are compared well with the designed conditions, which proves the design procedures are properly taken.

  • This paper presents a design and optimization of the fully-active transfemoral prosthesis leg system. As it has one degree of freedom in knee joint, this prosthesis leg can imitate the human's gait. The weight of system, which makes the users more comfortable due to less tiredness, and the knee joint torque to rise stability of the system are major factors of prosthesis leg system. Thus the mechanism of prosthesis changes from 3-linkage type to geared type. The sensorized foot is also designed to effectively determine human's gait by measuring deformation of the foot during gait. Topology optimization is carried out for the sensorized foot to remove its unnecessary weight. The safety of optimized foot is verified by carrying out finite element analysis.

  • This paper describes the conceptual design and development test procedure of a unmanned scaled-down personal air vehicle(PAV) with drive and flight dual mode capability. Trade studies on operational requirements led to the suggestion of a quad tilt prop platform which has nacelle tilt capability with multi rotor configuration. Motors for propeller propulsion and driving mechanism were integrated into a single nacelle, then they were implemented by nacelle tilt mechanism for conversion between the drive and the flight modes. Primary design parameters and initial specifications were confirmed through conceptual design, then functional tests were performed with the test platforms for the drive and the flight modes.

  • In this paper, we present novel analysis results of sonar communication using parametric array. We consider transducer diameter, primary frequency, difference frequency and acoustic power as analysis parameters of communication performance. We calculate theoretical BER(Bit Error Rate) and channel capacity of MIMO(Multi Input and Multi Output) communication system. By considering practical parameters, we obtain optimum difference frequency generation condition. The obtained primary frequency is 560 kHz, difference frequency 45kHz and acoustic power is 28.05Watt. For BER of $10^{-4}$, the range gain of parametric array communication is 3.35km compared to primary frequency communication. For channel capacity of 10bps/Hz, the SISO and $2{\times}2$ MIMO communication range of parametric array communication are 3.8km and 3.98km respectively, while primary frequency communication range is 0.83km.

Atomization Characteristics Experiment of Pintle Type Nozzle by the PDPA (PDPA에 의한 Pintle형 노즐의 미립화 특성실험 -식물유를 중심으로-)

  • A simplified experiment was performed to figure out the atomization characteristics of highly viscous liquid of rice-bran oil by applying ultrasonic energy to improve the atomization of spray droplets. A spray system, an ultrasonic system, and three kinds of pintle-type nozzles(pin-edge angle: 5 , 10 , 15 ) were manufactured. To investigate the effects of ultrasonic energy on the atomization of a highly viscous liquid, a phase doppler particle analyzer was used for the measurement and calculation of spray droplets data. Nozzle opening pressures were chosen of 3 levels, i.e, 10, 13, 16 MPa. As a result, it could be concluded that the ultrasonic energy was effective to improve the spray atomization when applied to the fuel by means of 3 different nozzles because of the effects of the liquid fuel cavitation and relaxation between molecules caused by ultrasonic energy. The improvement rate of the spray atomization by the ultrasonic spray atomization by the ultrasonic spray compared with the conventional spray was about 10% increase in the case of pintle type nozzles. With the increase of pin-edge angles the distribution lines by nozzle opening pressures are declined for both conventional and ultrasonic sprays. This means that the increase of the pin-edge angle improves the atomization of sprays.

  • This paper describes the design and implementation of previously developed PMU (Power Monitoring Unit) for LiPB (Lithium-ion Polymer Battery) that is electric propulsion used as unmanned aerial vehicle's power source. Improved PMU provides stable voltage and current to various sensors and elctric motors necessary during flight. Voltage and current monitoring function that is measured by improved PMU more precisely be enhanced and the monitoring channel and temperature sensor is added. To verify the improved performance of the equipment, it is integrated to electric propulsion system of unmanned aerial vehicle. PMU is calibrated through the ground test. And PMU's performance is checked through the flight test.

  • In this study, we experimentally investigate a noise mechanism related to the machining accuracy of the reducer in the driving state. We fabricate a planetary reducer and four types of gears for use in the planetary reducer. We use signal analysis to determine the noise and vibration of the reducer at different motor speeds; the motor speed is increased from 0 rpm to the maximum speed in a stepwise manner. In addition, we obtain the sound level by using a sound level meter. The machining accuracy of gears is evaluated by public organizations, Korea Testing Laboratory (KTL), on the basis of the Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS). We analyze and compare the results with the noise and vibration of the reducer.

  • Intercom System(ICS) of Korean Utility Helicopter(KUH) is an essential equipment for pilot to perform flight mission and it consists of communication system of KUH with VHF-FM radio set and U/VHF-AM radio set. It provides pilots and crews with internal communication, external communication and audible alarm. It has function of controlling volume and selecting two communication modes, normal mode and backup mode. This paper summarizes pilot comments in flight test which are classified by cause of occurrence and the troubleshooting process about each comment. It also describes design improvements which was derived from troubleshooting and suggests verification results of flight test.

냉음극형 X-선 튜브의 제작을 위한 CNT 페이스트의 무기 충전제에 대한 연구

  • X-선 튜브는 의료 영상 및 치료, 산업용 제전 장치, 비파괴 X-선 영상 장치 등에서 사용되는데 기존의 열전자원을 이용한 X-선 튜브와는 달리, 냉음극형 X-선 튜브는 빠른 속도의 디지털 구동이 가능하며 전력 소비가 낮은 장점이 있다. 따라서, 최근 많은 연구자들에 의해서 냉음극형 X-선 튜브에 관한 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 냉음극형 X-선 튜브는 전계 방출을 이용한 전자원을 사용하며, 탄소나노튜브 (CNT), Si, 다양한 종류의 나노선 등이 대표적이다. 그 중에서 CNT는 높은 종횡비로 인해 전계 방출 특성이 우수하여 가장 대표적인 물질이다. CNT를 이용한 전자원을 제작하기 위해서는 직접 성장법, 전기영동법, 스크린 프린팅법, 디핑법 등 다양한 방법이 존재한다. 직접 성장법을 제외한 방법들은 모재료인 CNT와 용매, 금속재료들을 섞어 페이스트나 수용액의 상태를 제작하여야 한다. 이 때, 금속 재료는 기판과 CNT간의 접착 및 전자 전도 통로의 역할을 하는 무기 충전제이며 일반적으로 나노 혹은 수 마이크로미터 크기의 상태로 존재하는 것을 주로 사용한다. X-선 튜브 제작은 일반적으로 외벽을 유리 혹은 세라믹을 주로 사용하는데 아노드 전극 및 캐소드 전극 등과 결합하여 진공 밀봉된 형태가 되어야 한다. 브레이징 방법은 금속과 세라믹을 결합하는데 매우 유용한 방법이며, 그 중에서도 진공 브레이징 방법은 다량의 부품을 한 번에 결합시킬 수 있다. 하지만 진공 브레이징 공정의 온도는 약 $700{\sim}1,000^{\circ}C$이며 이는 금속 재료가 충분히 증발할 수 있는 온도가 된다. 본 발표에서는 고온 진공 상태에서의 무기 충전제의 증발에 대한 현상을 관찰하고 고온진공 상태에서 증발없이 무기 충전제로의 역할을 할 수 있도록 다양한 금속 및 합금에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 또한, 이 연구를 통해 선택된 무기 충전제를 포함하여 CNT 페이스트를 볼밀링 방법을 이용하여 제작하였으며, 이를 이용한 CNT 에미터가 X-선 튜브의 전자원으로 사용될 수 있는지 확인하기 위해 전계 방출 실험을 함께 실시하였다. 제작된 CNT 에미터가 우수한 전계 방출 특성을 가지고 있음을 확인하였으며, 이는 본 연구를 통해 선택된 금속 및 합금 재료가 무기 충전제로의 역할을 잘 수행하고 있음을 보여준다.

The Measurement Method Using Hydrogen Peroxide for Quantification of Phosphate Ion Poisoning of Pt Based Catalyst (과산화수소를 이용한 Pt계 촉매의 인산 이온 피독 특성 정량 평가 방법)

  • A new measurement method is suggested to quantify the phosphate poisoning of cathodic Pt catalyst for HT-PEMFC. To do that, hydrogen peroxide was used as an indicator to reduce the error which has been occurred in conventional electrochemical measurement such as CV or ORR RDE with high concentration of phosphate ions. As a result, the current density induced from the reaction of hydrogen peroxide decomposition increased proportionally to the concentration of phosphate ion while the conventional methods show has a significant error with high concentration of phosphate ion. Thus, it is confirmed that the suggested way is superior to the conventional measurement method for the quantification of phosphate ion poisoning in an atmosphere similar to the actual operation condition of HT-PEMFC.
