  • A series of laboratory tests were performed to evaluate engineering properties of geobag system which is used for urgent restoration of the collapsed roadbed. In this study, the suitable geobag size was proposed as 44cm wide and 66cm long, and the suitable filling ratio of geobag was also proposed as 80% through the static loading tests. Also a series of model tests were carried out to investigate the characteristics of the engineering behavior and the distribution of earth pressure of the geobag roadbed under static and dynamic loading.

  • The Concrete Capacity Design(CCD) method has been used in the design of anchor since 2001 and Korean design code specify that concrete breakout capacity of CIP anchor under seismic load shall be taken as 75% of static capacity. In this study, an experimental study was performed to evaluate the concrete breakout capacity of unreinforced CIP anchors under dynamic shear force. For the purpose, three static and dynamic shear-loading tests were conducted using 20mm diameter anchors, respectively. The edge distance of 120mm was considered in the tests. In the dynamic tests, 15 cycles pulsating load with 1Hz speed was applied and the magnitude of loading step was increased until concrete breakout failure occurs. From the tests, the concrete breakout capacity under dynamic shear loading showed nearly same capacity by static loading.

  • In this study, the full scale model tests were performed with track-roadbed system such as Ho-nam high speed railway. The measured data gives good similar a roadbed pressure with equivalent depth to the Odemark's theory. In the case of earth pressures have a under 50 kPa at upper-subgrade applying 330 kN static loading. Results of cyclic loading tests did not differ significantly from those of static loading test. The elastic displacement at HSB layer has a level of 1/100 compared to the 1 mm that it was evaluation criteria for speed up of High Speed Railway. Elastic displacement at subgrade layer was measured a level of 1/175. The dynamic characteristics of track-roadbed with loading frequency level were linearly increased under 35 Hz, while the wheel loading, displacement and acceleration of roadbed were decreased loading frequency above 35 Hz.

  • Satellite structure should be designed to accommodate and support safely the payload and equipments necessary for its own missions and to secure satellite and payloads from severe laucnch enviroments. The lauch environments imposed on satellites are quasi-static accelerations, aerodynamic loads, acoustic loads and shock loads. To qualify the structure design against low-frequency dyanmic enviromnent, sine vibration test should be performed. During sine vibration test, the notchings are implemented in order to keep the payloads and equipments from excessive loading at their own main modes. This paper deals with sine test prediction, sine vibration test results, comparison of predicted values and tested values, and verification of Finite Element Model.

  • Recently, research and development has been conducted to impart high performance and functionality to concrete materials by mixing various reinforcing materials into the matrix. Ductile fiber reinforced concrete using a large amount of fibers shows a distributed multiple cracking behavior, and various studies are being conducted on this material. However, research is focused on static behavioral analysis but studies on cyclic behaviors are not sufficient. In this study, beams were made of ductile fiber reinforced concrete with various fiber contents, and static and fatigue flexural tests were performed. As a result, the effect of fiber content on the flexural behavior was analyzed. Also, the applied load level and fatigue life relationship of ductile fiber reinforced concrete was proposed. Concrete with high ductile property could be achieved with a fiber content of 2%. When 0.5% fiber was more added, the maximum flexural strength was similar, but the flexural toughness is nearly doubled. On the other hand, there was no significant difference in the fatigue life of these two mixtures.

  • Crack growth tests on silicon nitride have been made to clarify the crack growth characteristics under static and cyclic loading. Under constant K(K: stress intensity factor) static loading the crack growth rate in silicon nitride decreases with increasing crack extension and is finally arrested. The cack growth resistiance is largely reduced by the application of stress cycling and though the crack growth resistiacne increases with increasing of crack extension the increasing rate is much smaller under cyclic loading than under static loading.

  • The fracture processes under static tensile loading were simulated using a proposed numerical simulation method, based on finite element method and fracture mechanism, and analyzed to verify an influence of rock inhomogeneity on static tensile strength. Static tensile strengths for the specimen models with different spatial microscopic tensile strength when m=5 and m=50 were estimated. These analyses revealed that the static tensile strength becomes closer to the mean microscopic tensile strength at a higher uniformity coefficient and the scatter of the strength data decreases in increasing the uniformity coefficients. Therefore, it could be concluded that rock inhomogeneity has an effect on static tensile strength.

  • In this paper, a practical method of estimating the flap hinge moments which change according to the aircraft flap operations was introduced. For the flap design, the hinge moment derived by structural load analysis and wind tunnel tests was able to be compared with the real flight hinge moment, and the static safety of the flap structure could be verified though this comparison. In order to perform the tests, two strain gauges were installed on the flap hinge and an onboard device for aircraft load monitoring was utilized. Through the ground test, the correlation between the strain and the moment of the flap hinge was calibrated with analytic and finite element analysis. During the flight test, strain signals together with the flap deflection angles and airspeed were recorded. Finally, the flight hinge moments could be predicted by the measured strain which was calibrated with the analytic and the finite element analysis.

  • In this paper, we have presented structural analysis procedure and full scale test results for 4-seater canard airplane. Construction of the finite element model is critical path for the aircraft structural analysis and directly affects the structural integrity. The refinement of the finite element model should be determined depending on full scale test results. From the results of the structural analysis, 5 design limit loads test conditions and 11 design ultimate loads test conditions were selected. By the presented procedure, the structural integrity of 4-Seater Canard Airplane is successfully obtained.
