Educational Use of Emotion Measurement Technologies (감성측정 테크놀로지의 교육적 활용방안 탐색)

  • Recent research shows that emotion is closely related to memory and learning. Although a growing number of educators have high interest in affective aspects of learning processes and outcomes, there are few studies to investigate systematically instructional strategies and learning environments based on learners' emotion. Despite the efforts to understand the role of emotion and to facilitate positive emotion for meaningful learning in face-to-face and online environments, it is still a challenging issue to measure emotion in a valid and reliable way. To implement emotion-based education, it is essential to overcome the limitation of self-report surveys on emotion, which rely on the memory of learners. The current study surveyed emotion measurement tools, which are recently developed in education and other domains, in terms of self-report, neurophysiology, and behavioral responses. This study also discussed how emotion measurement tools can be used in authentic learning and teaching situations. Particularly, this study focused on cutting-edge technologies that would enable educators to collect and analyze learners' emotion easily in real-world contexts. This study will contribute to the research about the role of emotion in education and the design of adaptive learning environments that consider the change of learners' emotion.

  • 결속성은 텍스트의 의미 관계 분석에서 주요하게 고려되는 요인 중 하나이다. 결속성이 높을 수록 텍스트 내 언어적 의미 관계가 긴밀한 것으로 볼 수 있기 때문이다. 사람에 의한 텍스트 결속성 분석은 주관이 개입되는 문제를 배제할 수 없는데, 영어에는 TAACO라고 불리는 결속성 자동 측정 도구가 있어 다양한 지표들로 텍스트의 결속성을 측정하고 있다. 그러나 한국어에는 이와 같은 텍스트 결속성 자동 측정 도구가 거의 없으며, 관련 연구도 상당히 부족한 실정이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 한국어 텍스트의 의미 관계 분석을 위한 결속성 지표를 정의하고, 한국어의 특성에 맞는 결속성 측정 도구인 KorCAT을 제안한다.

  • Role Based Access Control(RBAC) reduces the cost of administering access control policies as well as making the process less error-prone. Administration tool is most important component in the concept of RBAC. The administration tool for the RBAC security system must be maintain the integrity of user-role and role-role relationships in the RBAC Database. Therefor, it is required set functions, properties defining integrity of database. When it will be designed security systems which is applying RBAC policy on the Linux(server system environments, this paper defines integrity of database for user-role and role-role relationships, and we propose formal specification of operation in order to manage these relationships. The proposed formal specification leads to the consistency requirements for the RBAC database which are defined as a set of relationship. Also, this paper can easily derive the implementation of the RBAC administration tool by formal specification of operations. It leads us tn the minimal set for a more efficiently implementation of administration tool.

  • 형식개념(Formal Concept)은 외연(extent)과 내포(intent)를 이용하여 어떤 대상에 대한 정의를 내리거나, 그 대상들을 분류하여 군집화하기 위한 논리적 도구로 사용되어왔다. 여기에서 외연이란 객체(Object)들의 집합이고, 내포는 그 객체들이 지니고 있는 속성(Attribute)들의 집합이다. 이러한 형식개념은 어떤 문제에 나타나는 다양한 데이터로부터 객체와 속성들을 추출하고 이로부터 개념(Concept)들의 계층구조(hierarchy)를 형성하여 데이터를 분석하는데 적용될 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 형식개념의 정의와 성질을 소개하고, 이를 일반화한 완비격자에서의 형식개념을 정의한다. 또한 이 형식개념에서의 외연과 내포격자에 대한 성질을 알아본다.

An SGML Document Authoring Tool (SGML 문서 저작 도구)

  • SGML, defined as the ISO 8879, is a meta-language to define a document type, used as basic format for electronic documents. Since an SGML document is composed of a document type definition and a document instance conforms to the definition, it is necessary for SGML document authoring tools to compose and validate document type and document instance. In present, formal models and procedures for SGML documents are not defined, it's not easy to construct such tools. We propose a model of SGML authoring tool consists of SGML parser, document type definition editor, SGML document editor and style editor. We also introduce and implement formal procedure for each component. For user convenience, we adopted icon based visual programming method, and solved the HANGUL problems. The SGML authoring tool is implemented I Windows NT system using java and C++ programming language.

Trends of Assessment Research in Science Education (과학 교육에서의 평가 연구 동향)

  • This study seeks educational implication by analyzing research papers dealing with science assessment in the most recent 30 years in Korea. The main purpose of the study is to analyze the trends in published papers on science assessment, their purpose, methodology, and key words, especially concentrating on the cognitive and affective domains. We selected 273 research articles and categorized them by research object, subject, methodology, and contents. To examine the factors that affect the research trend, we also tried to contextualize papers' theme in terms of changes in national curriculum and assessment system during the contemporary period. As a result, an overall research trend reflects changes in science curriculum and assessment events such as implementation of college scholastic ability test or performance assessment. There is an unequal distribution in various aspects of the researches, showing a superiority in cognitive domains than the affective ones. By using standardized data obtained through the national and international assessment of educational achievement in science, quantitative researches were superior to qualitative ones. Studies on cognitive domain use variously written- and performance-based tests, whereas most studies of the affective ones prefer written tests. Applied research and evaluation research are predominant comparing to basic ones, which most of the research methodology is based on statistics. Lastly, we found out that key words and subjects tend to be subdivided and detailed rather than general and comprehensive, as time goes on. Such trend will be helpful to elaborate and refine assessment tools that have been regarded as a problem.

  • 내장 실시간 시스템은 논리적 정확성과 시간적 정확성을 모두 만족해야 하는 내장 시스템이다. 시스템의 시간적 정확성을 위해서는 해당 시스템에서 동작하는 태스크들의 스케줄링 가능성을 검사해야 한다. 스케줄링 가능성을 분석하기 위해서는 태스크의 실행 시간 분석이 선행 되어야 한다. 하지만 태스크의 실행 시간은 실행 시점에 따라 가변적이기 때문에 태스크의 정확한 실행 시간을 알아내기는 힘들다. 따라서 가능한 모든 경우를 고려하여 해당 태스크를 구성하는 코드 경로 중 최악의 경로일 경우의 실행 시간인 최악 실행 시간을 이용한다. 기존의 정적 최악 실행 시간 분석을 하는 도구의 경우 동적인 상황의 정보 부재로 인해 최악 실행 시간의 과대 측정 비율이 높다는 문제점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 정적 최악 실행 시간 분석 시 과대 측정 비율을 줄이기 위해 대상 기기에 실행 정보를 적용한 RunInfo(WCET analysis tool using the Run-Time Information) 분석 도구를 설계하고 구현한다. 실행 정보를 정의하고, RunInfo 분석 도구의 구조에 대해 설명한다. 그리고 실행 정보를 적용할 때, 고려할 점에 대해 알아본다. 성능 평가를 위해 RunInfo 분석 도구의 과대 측정 비율을 기존의 분석도구와 비교한다.

  • Since the science of information is appearing no less important than mathematics and natural science as our society is rapidly becoming information-oriented, the necessity to distinguish prodigies of this field and to educate them as early as possible is also being emphasized. Unfortunately, however, the pertinent study is still in its beginning stage. In this study, I have reviewed the character, definition and method to distinguish prodigies and the procedure of developing a test, as well as researching and analyzing the proper process of distinguishing prodigies, through theoretical contemplation on the method of distinguishing the gifted children. Also, I have characterized and defined the information prodigies after clarifying the character of 'Discrete Mathematics' which becomes the basis of the science of information, paving the way to make a test method that can distinguish those information prodigies. As a result of our applying the system by using the distinction test, it turned out that the distinction test was pretty reliable. Accordingly, it can be utilized as a significant distinction test for information prodigies in the forthcoming future.

Development of the Instrument for Assessment the Attitude toward Engineering (공학에 대한 태도 측정 도구 개발)

  • This research was conducted to develop an assessment measure of attitude toward engineering. Based upon related document research and case studies, we came up with operational definition and category of attitude toward engineering as well as questionnaires to assess. After consulting with specialists and studying on relevant documents, we changed some of the 60 questions developed in the first phase or added new ones. One hundred and nine students who major in engineering were questioned by the 40 questions selected in the second phase. Using SPSS 14.0K statistics program, various techniques were used including factor analysis, validity analysis and correlation analysis. And the level of significance of statistical verification was 0.05. The result is as follows: Based on fundamental aspect of the attitude, this research focused on 3 different variables: cognitive variable such as 'attitude toward engineering value', affective available such as 'general attitude toward engineering and attitude toward engineering study', Behavior available such as 'participation in engineering activity'. Therefore, as a subcategory, attitude toward engineering value is classified into value as study and job, social value and personal value, general attitude toward engineering and attitude toward engineering study are divided into self-concept, self-efficacy, awareness, interest and cooperation. Also, participation in engineering activity is classified into attitude toward engineering study. After applying this measurement to the field, we integrated self-concept into self-efficacy, omitting one independent factor in the question. Finally, through Verimax, we developed 'Instrument of Assessment the Attitude toward Engineering(IAAE)' which consists of 3 variables, 9 subcategories and 39 questions.

  • 최근에 원본 컨텐츠에 부가적인 메타데이터를 워터마크 형식으로 연결시키기 위한 시도들이 많이 있었지만, 이들을 객관적으로 평가하고 비교할 수 있는 표준 도구들이 미미하였다. 이를 위해 MPEG-21 (Moving Picture Expert Group)에서는 멀티미디어 프레임워크 측면에서 이에 대한 방법들을 정의하고, 평가 절차에 대한 표준화를 시도하고 있다. 본 논문은 MPEG-21 에서 논의중인 디지털 컨텐츠와 이에 관련된 메타데이터의 지속적 연결을 위한 기술 평가 방법을 소개한다. 이 기술에 대한 배경, 표준화 현황 및 방향, 기술들의 종류, 응용분야, 기술의 평가 항목 등에 대해 자세히 서술 할 것이다.
