Creating the Frame for the Future of Geography Education in Korea (지리 교육의 미래를 위한 구도 설정)

  • The geography education in korea has contributed to citizenship education since the late 19th century. But today geography has seen crisis in the school curriculum. In order to overcome this crisis we investigate educational implication of social change. Based on M. Poster's theory of mode of information, we examine changing nature of knowledge and its implication on school. These aspects ret1ect teenager culture and emotional aspect of geography education. However we needs support from the national ethos. We suggest a few directions of geography education, contribution of cultural landscape to korean identity, housing and land justice, future cities, geopolitics and culture area.

A Study on Satisfaction and Revisit Intention of Local Festival Visitors - Focused on Visitors’ Evaluation of Festival Image Attributes - (지역축제 방문객의 축제 이미지 평가에 따른 만족과 재방문 의사에 관한 연구)

  • The objective of this study was to investigate satisfaction and revisit intention of Muju Firefly Festival visitors, based on visitors’ evaluation of festival images. The result of this research provided three major findings as belows. 1. The factor of “uniqueness of festival” among emotional image group and the factors of “festival spirit” and “educational impact” among cognitive image group contributed to the levels of visitor satisfaction. 2. The factors of “uniqueness of festival” and “traditionalism of festival” among emotional image group and the factors of “festival spirit” and “educational impact of festival” among cognitive image group influenced the revisit intention of festival visitors. 3. The factor of “uniqueness of festival” among emotional image group and factors of “festival spirit” and “educational impact” among cognitive image group had an impact on the intention of word of mouth.

Implications of the Writing to Heal 'Mediated by Places as Catalyst' for Geographical Education ('장소를 촉매로 한' 치유의 글쓰기와 지리교육적 함의 -'나를 키운 장소'를 주제로 한 적용 사례-)

  • Writing to heal is a writing that the self chews over his/her life and expresses what he/she is. Recently, many scholars who concern with writing to heal show interests in place as a medium to heal. From this point of time, this study aims to interpret implications of the writing to heal mediated by places as catalyst on the bases of theories that have argued the reciprocity between memory[the self] and place. Previously, the author has drawn 'The places that have shaped his/her life', the theme to write, and secondly interpret various situations and aspects of writings that students put down. As a result, the author places emphasis on that most students have a variety of memorial places respectively and those places work as catalyst in the process of writing.
