  • This study examined the pathway through which adolescents' exposure to domestic violence could lead them to become addicted to Internet games. A total of 709 middle school and high school students were used as subjects and data from the 'domestic violence on children and adolescent' section of the 2010 National Data on Domestic Violence were used. The results of analysis using structural equations showed that the subjects' exposure to domestic violence did not directly affect their addiction to Internet games but that it indirectly affected their addiction through decrease in parental attachment. This can be interpreted to mean that when parents who should be a source of safety for their children become agents and recipients of violence, adolescents come to feel alienated because they cannot form any secure attachment to their parents and cannot build trust or emotional stability in their real-life parents, and they accordingly become absorbed in the virtual world of games. The results of the analysis were then used to discuss action plans for the prevention and intervention of adolescents' internet game addiction.

  • This study was intended to develop a self-report wisdom scale for the elementary gifted students. For this, related literature was reviewed in depth and open ended questionnaire about the wisdom qualities was conducted. Based on these, a self-report wisdom scale, which was comprised of 42 items in 4 factors such as the situation judgment and problem-solving ability, the communication ability and skills, the emotional stability, the insight and adaptation, was developed. For this preliminary scale, 215 elementary gifted students were surveyed. And for the confirmatory factor analysis, 256 elementary gifted students participated. The results of the study were as follows. The fit of measurement model was found to be ${\chi}^2$=1596.46 (df=813, p=.00), TLI .90, CFI .91, RMSEA .046, indicating most of fit indexes were acceptable. The reliability for each of 42-item by the sub-factors also appeared to be good, showing that internal consistency reliability by the configuration factors was 0.86, .87, .89, .87 each relatively. In addition, to verify the validity of the wisdom scale, the convergent and discriminate validities were obtained through the correlation analysis among the psychological characteristics which were considered to be related to the wisdom. Finally, practical implications of the study were discussed in depth.

This informed the development of a structured class procedure by extracting core components. Indeed, 43 multicultural students in five classes in the first and second grades of A Elementary School in Gyeonggi-do were given three pilot classes for each class for 20 weeks and a total of 100 picture book reading classes, each with 17 main lessons. This study establishes the positive impact of picture book reading classes on the Korean language comprehension of multicultural students. The results confirm positive improvements in students' ability to understand Korean, as evidenced by enhanced Korean expression and presentation skills, increased library usage, and a positive shift in classroom attitude. The procedure for reading picture books using school libraries proposed in this study was actually conceived and developed in the course of class operation in the school education field, reflecting the changes brought about by the increase of multicultural students and the need to improve the class environment. Through this practical investigation, important insights have been extracted regarding how picture book reading sessions designed for elementary school students from multicultural backgrounds can enhance the classroom environment and elevate learning outcomes.

  • Industrialization and urbanization have led automobiles to transform into more than just modes of transportation; they have become daily necessities as well as extensions of living spaces where a variety of activities can be done and automotive applications of the latest information technology are accelerated. Though material abundance has increased in the modern society, the conflicts and the stress emerging from a social structure focused on competition have increased as well. Such lifestyles generate a need for personal space and media content for healing the body and the mind. This research explores the automotive application of video content with the goal of refreshing the minds of the passengers. To this end, previous studies have investigated the emotional effect of videos, focusing on the responses of diverse groups of adults (age group of 20 to 60) who frequently used automobiles, which had video displays installed in them. The results showed that watching video contents on a full window inside a car influenced the creation of positive feelings7 and emotional satisfaction. The research attempts to study the methods of providing video contents and the effects of watching them that could aid the emotional well-being of passengers, and presents the possibility of emotional satisfaction created by a convergence of cars and multimedia contents in the future.

  • This study is aimed at exploring the effects of forest experience activities on promoting children's community spirit. To achieve this, a pre-post survey was empirically carried out with 40 children at Kindergarten A in the city of Chungnam. The comprehensive findings showed a significant difference between the experimental group, which had forest experience activities, and the control group, which had outdoor activities based on the existing Nuri curriculum. Based on a pre-test for intimacy, emotion, mutual public awareness, and participation consciousness as sub-factors of community spirit, which adopted all the research hypotheses, the results suggest that the forest kindergarten will become an educational place for children. Consequently, personality education using nature in forest kindergartens can become an excellent goal, helping to boost the development of children's sensitivity and emotional stability through awakening the five senses; building up self-awareness, self-reliance, and trust; learning consideration and respect for others; and developing positive attitudes, sociality, potential, imagination, and creativity through forest activities with their peers.
