An Experimental Study on the Motion Response of a High-Speed Planing Craft in Regular Head Waves (정면 규칙파 중 활주형 고속선의 운동 응답에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • The running attitude of a high-speed planing craft may change significantly depending on its speed in seaway. Other variables that may influence its running attitude are its weight, center of gravity, sea conditions, and so on. In this paper, planing craft model tests were carried out with respect to above variables in SNU towing tank, and vertical motion responses of a planing craft in regular head waves were analyzed. The experimental results in regular waves were compared with those in calm water, and compared with the theoretical estimations. Finally, the effects of running speeds of a planing craft on its motion amplitudes are confirmed.

A study of motion characteristics along the connection methods between the floating body and the wave energy convertor (파력발전기의 가동부유체와 본체 사이의 연결방식에 따른 운동특성 연구)

  • Wave energy generation system is sorted as oscillating water chamber type, over topping device type and wave activating body type. The wave activating body type converts from wave energy to kinetic of the machine one and the power generation amount increases while the motion of a activating body increases. In this paper the wave energy convertor consists of a main body which has a generation system and the activating body. They are connected by a bar type bridge. The twisting moment and angular velocity at a shaft of convertor are calculated when various condition of the incident wave, a diversity of connection methods between the main body and the activating body. It can be used as basic idea for determining the design of wave activating body type convertor.

  • In rough seas, actual behaviours of a ship may not be estimated by the linear strip theory, because of Nonlinearities due to the hull shape, bottom slamming and bottom and/or bow-flare slamming. In case of slamming, impulsive hydrodynamic pressure occurs on the fore body surface of the ship, resulting hull vibration called whipping, by which the ship may suffer from serious structural damages and the impact pressure, depends critically on the relative velocity at re-entry. In this paper, the Time history of impact froce at each station, the longitudinal distribution of impact force at critical time, the Time history of acceleration at F.P. and the Time history of Bending moment at midship are illustrated. That is, authors analyzed Dynamic response of container ship to be subjected slamming impact force.
