  • Evaluating the risk of collision quantitatively plays a key role in developing the expert system of navigation and collision avoidance. This study analysed theoretically and thoroughly how to determine the gradient coefficients as described in the new evaluation of collision risk using sech function, and suggested the appropriate values as applicable.

  • The present study developed a program which can assess the reliability of tunnel support systems based on a probability-based method. The developed program uses FLAC2D as a solver, and can automatically execute all the processes, associated with numerical and probabilistic analysis. Since a numerical analysis, which models the ground, requires a significant calculation time, it is actually impossible to apply simulation-based methods to probabilistic assessment on the reliability of tunnel support systems. Therefore, the present study used a point estimate method, which is efficient for probabilistic analysis since the method can significantly reduce the number of samples when compared with the simulation-based method. The developed program was applied to a tunnel project, and the results were compared with those through a deterministic approach. From the comparison, it was identified that a probabilistic approach can quantitatively assess the reliability of tunnel support systems based on probability of failure and can be used as a tool for decision making in tunnel support designs.

  • Recently, the industrial paradigm shift to the fourth industry has already begun, and the importance of patents as intangible intellectual property in the fourth industry era is increasing day by day. Since the technical valuation of a patent is calculated according to the opinion of experts, it is costly and time consuming, and hence, the quality of the patent is judged based on subjective opinions of non-experts. Therefore, it is necessary to develop an objective and rational evaluation system for the qualitative level of patents. In this paper, we classify the valuation of patents into technicality, rights, and usability, and consider the quantitative and objective evaluation modeling of patents using Bayesian structural equation model. In particular, based on the data collected by the Korea Invention Promotion Association, we apply the Bayesian approach, which is capable of stable modeling even under small samples by using prior information, and the structural equation model, which is excellent for modeling and evaluating qualitative performance that is difficult to measure directly, to develop a patent evaluation model.

  • Along with the government's policy to encourage youth entrepreneurship, each university is making great efforts to promote entrepreneurship, and university entrepreneurship programs can be said to be the most important part of supporting and activating college students' entrepreneurship. In order to increase interest in and participation in entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship programs, it is necessary to take an in-depth look at students' perceptions of entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship programs. Therefore, this study used the effectiveness hierarchy model to explore the perceptions of college students at each stage and to identify bottleneck factors that hinder participation in entrepreneurship programs. For this purpose, focus group interviews and in-depth interviews were conducted using samples with different levels of interest and participation in entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship programs, and bottleneck factors at each stage of the effect hierarchy model were presented. The research results complement entrepreneurship research that was focused on quantitative research, and add important practical implications by approaching the study with a particular focus on local university cases.

  • "The certification of compliance of new products of industrial convergence" (hereinafter referred to as "certification of compliance") is a legal certification system in accordance with the Industrial Convergence Promotion Act through which a convergence new product can be officially certified without legislation when the certification standards applicable to the product are not yet provided. Unlike other certification systems, the certification of compliance is characterized by the role of resolving the certification difficulties driven by the regulatory lag of convergence new products. Nevertheless, studies that analyzed the certification of compliance in detail from the viewpoint of regulatory improvement were surprisingly rare. Through the sequential matching of the steps of certification of compliance with the process from the occurrence of a regulatory problem to resolution, our study provided clear understanding as to how the regulatory lag could be reduced by the procedure for certification of compliance. Furthermore, we divided the perspective on regulatory lag management into quantitative and qualitative, and the structures and practices of certification of compliance were then analyzed from the two perspectives. By doing this, the present study emphasized that the fundamental reason the certification of compliance could effectively solve the regulatory lag problem of convergence new products was not only the quantitative elements such as legal deadlines for each step but also several qualitative approaches to securing the quality of every stage.

  • Damage caused by private information breach causes serious problems and huge social losses. In order to make a better policy that prevents society from suffering from the damage, we have to know about the actual size of damage. So it is needed to develop a quantitative model of private information breach that helps catching the more accurate size of damage. In our study, we suggest a method which calculate not only the costs of damage from firms' perspective but also those from individual and social perspectives. In this process, we refer to methods adopted by JNSA(Japan Network Security Association) and Ponemon Research Institue and modify it with considering our current situation. Also we try to make a new model by using new methods(web traffic analysis, survey, indirect comparison, etc.) and verify it with theories and methods from econometrics, cost accounting and theory of producer.

  • The purpose of this study identifies the patterns of students' learning motivation profiles on entrepreneurial educational motivation among a sample of university students from one of the Korean national university(n=614). This study also examines the relationship between students' learning motivation profiles and entrepreneurial intention and types of entrepreneurship. In order to explore the types of leaning motivation profiles, a latent profile analysis was employed. Result from LPA revealed five distinct types of learning motivation profiles fit the data best, and these five profiles are compared with students' entrepreneurial intentions and types of entrepreneurship. Results showed that Profiles (profile 5 and 4-high goal orientation) are associated with the higher level of entrepreneurial intention. Regarding the type of entrepreneurship, the majority of all students are interested in individual and co-entrepreneurship with friend regardless of the patterns of profiles.

  • Since a device such as a rocket motor requires very high reliability, a reasonable reliability design process is essential. However, Korea has implemented a design method for applying a safety factor to each component. In classic reliability analysis, input variables such as mean and standard deviation, used in the limit state function, are treated as deterministic values. Because the mean and standard deviation are determined by a small amount of data, this approach could lead to inaccurate results. In this study, reliability analysis is performed for bolted joints and o-ring seals, and the Bayesian approach is used to statistically estimate the input variables. The estimated variables and failure probability, calculated by the reliability analysis, are derived in the form of probability distributions.

  • During the last decade, effort has been made f3r reducing maintenance cost for aged equipments and ensuring safety, efficiency and profitability of petrochemical and refinery plants. Hence, it was required to develop advanced methods which meet this need. RBI(Risk Based Inspection) methodology is one of the most promising technology satisfying the requirements in the field of integrity management. In this study, a quantitative assessment algorithm fir RBI based on the API 581 code was reconstructed for developing an RBI software. The user-friendly realRBI software is developed with a module for evaluating quantitative risk md financial risk using the potential consequence and the likelihood. Also, inspection planning module for inspection time and inspection method are included in it.
