A Study on the Economy of Weak-Axis Beam-to-Column Connections (약축 보-기둥 접합부의 경제성에 관한 연구)

  • Column-tree beam-to-column joints are widely used in moment-resisting frames in Korea. In this study, we proposed four different arrangements for weak-axis moment-resisting beam-to-column connections, which are more economical than the conventional connection, while developing similar structural performance. We investigated the proposed connections whose connection details were different from the conventional one. The experiment was also conducted on a total of five beam-to-column joint specimensto verify the structural performance of the proposed connections. All four connections proposed in this study were found to be more economical that the conventional connection. Three out of four specimens with proposed details were able to developa structural performance similar to that of the specimen with the conventional detail.

Experimental Study on Structural Behavior of Tapered non-compact Frame with Snug-tightened Conditions (밀착조임 볼트체결에 따른 판폭두께비가 큰 변단면 프레임의 구조성능에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • Current trends in steel construction include using tapered, non-compact sections to minimize the use of excess material as much as possible by choosing the cross-sections instead of the classical approach of using prismatic members. In addition, snug conditions, especially the end-plate type, have the advantage of incurring less construction costs and shorter assembly times as opposed to full pre-tensioned conditions. On the other hand, it is important to predict the collapse of the PEB system due to over-loading. Large-scale tests of tapered steel portal frames with non-compact sections were conducted. The primary test parameters included the bolt connection method and the loading condition (vertical and horizontal load). The test results on initial stiffness and load capacity were investigated. Furthermore, comparisons between the analytical and experimental data for load-displacement curves were initiated. In addition, we evaluated the applicability of a snug bolt for the PEB frame in the field.

Analysis of Behavior of Metal Plate Connection by Nonlinear Finite Element Method (비선형 유한요소법을 이용한 메탈 플레이트 접합부의 거동해석)

  • have been many studies to analyze the behavior of metal plate connector that most widely used to connect light frame wood trusses. Finite element method{FEM) was one of the methods for those studies. FEM using linear model may well be applicable to predict the initial slope of load-displacement curve for metal plate connection. However, displacement may be overestimated above experimental results with the increase of load. Therefore, linear model cannot be used for the nonlinear behavior part. To predict real behavior more exactly, nonlinear term was included to FEM model in this study. It was found out that EA and AA mode showed the high agreement between predicted results and experimental ones. However, EE and AE mode showed a little difference between predicted results and experimental ones in nonlinear part. This results might be caused by insufficient reflection of the slip effect. Consequently, the effect of slip shall be considered to approve the accuracy of nonlinear analysis for the behavior of metal plate connection.

Numerical Analysis on Structural Behavior of Column-Slab Connection (기둥-슬래브 접합부의 구조거동에 관한 수치해석)

  • In this study, the structural performance of high strength concrete (HSC) column-normal strength concrete (NSC) slab connection was investigated according to confinement effects, aspect ratio (h/c) and strength ratio ($f^{\prime}_{cc}/f_{cs}$). The study was conducted by using finite element analysis. To verify the analysis methods, the experiments and analyses results were compared. The specimens were classified by connection types including interior column, edge column, corner column and isolated column. As a result, ultimate strength of interior column was larger than other specimens. Also, the axial stresses of connection were decreased when the aspect ratio was increased. As the strength ratio between column and slab was increased, the ultimate strength of specimens was also increased until the strength ratio was reached to 1.83.

  • 고도(高度)의 엔지니어링 구조물(構造物)로 경제성이 높은 경골(輕骨) 목조(木造) 트러스에 사용될 수 있는 소나무(Pinus densiflora) 재(材)에 적용한 20게이지 아연도금강(鋼) 플레이트 접합부(接合部)의 하중(荷重)-변위(變位) 특성(特性)을 평가하기 위하여 Foschi 모형을 사용하여 모형 모수(母數)를 산출하고 실험치와 계산치를 비교 분석하였다. 접합부(接合部)의 하중(荷重)-변위(變位) 곡선(曲線)은 비선형 특성을 나타내었다. 접합부의 하중성능 및 강성(剛性)은 플레이트 및 목리에 평행한 형태에서 최대치를 나타내었고, 플레이트에 직각이고 목리(木理)에 평행한 형태로부터 플레이트에 평행이고 목리에 직각인 형태순으로 감소하다 플레이트 및 목리에 직각인 형태에 최소치를 나타내었다. 3-모수(母數) 비선형 모형으로 예측된 스테인레스강(鋼) 및 아연도금강(鋼) 플레이트 접합부의 하중-변위 특성에 대한 계산치는 실험치와 잘 일치하였다.

  • This paper presents a nonlinear finite element analysis procedure for the seismic performance assessment of deep beam-and-interior column joints. A computer program, named RCAHEST(Reinforced Concrete Analysis in Higher Evaluation System Technology), for the analysis of reinforced concrete structures was used. Horizontal cyclic load tests were conducted to estimate the strength, ductility, and behavioral characteristics of deep beam-and-interior column joints. Experimental parameters are axial forces and amount of transverse reinforcement. The proposed numerical method for the seismic performance assessment of deep beam-and-interior column joints is verified by comparison of its results with reliable experimental results.

  • Many reinforced concrete structures have been constructed at the offshore in Korea and those are exposed in environments for long period. Due to that, the reinforcement of the structure faces possibility of corrosion by the salt damage. Such corrosions are effects on the bond performance between concrete and reinforcing bar as well as the performance of the structure. In this study, the performance of RC structure has been investigated when the reinforcing bars are totally bonded and unbonded in the structure. Through the experimental tests and finite element analyses of beam-column joint with bond and unbonded reinforcing bar, the energy dissipation capacity, strength, and crack distribution are compared and discussed.

  • 이 연구에서는 완전 조립식 교량 하부구조의 비선형해석을 위한 전산플랫폼을 개발하였다. 완전 조립식 교량 하부구조의 비선형거동을 정확하게 파악하고 합리적이면서 경제적인 설계기준의 개발을 위한 자료를 제공하는데 그 목적이 있다. 재료적 비선형성에 대해서는 균열콘크리트에 대한 인장, 압축, 전단모델과 콘크리트 속에 있는 철근모델을 조합하여 고려하였다. 사용된 부착 또는 비부착 텐던요소는 유한요소법에 근거하며 프리스트레스트 콘크리트 부재의 콘크리트와 텐던의 상호작용을 구현할 수 있다. 그리고 접합면요소는 세그먼트 접합부의 비탄성거동을 예측할 수 있다. 제안된 해석기법은 수치예제에 대하여 비선형거동을 비교적 정확하게 예측하였다.

  • 실리콘 이종접합 태양전지는 비정질 실리콘을 사용하여 p-n 접합을 만들기 때문에 결정질 태양전지에 비해 개방전압이 높은 특성을 보인다. 그렇지만 결정질 태양전지는 접합을 확산공정으로 만들어 p층과 n층의 계면에서 결함이 존재하지 않는 반면 이종접합 태양전지는 결정질 실리콘 표면에 접합을 만들기 때문에 결정질 실리콘의 표면에 defect이 존재할 가능성이 많아진다. 이번 실험에서 결정질 실리콘의 cleaning 조건 변화에 따른 이종접합 태양전지의 특성변화를 보았다. 실리콘 이종접합 태양전지는 전면전극/ITO/p a-Si:H/i a-Si:H/n c-Si/i a-Si:H/n a-Si:H/후면전극의 구조로 만들으며 p형 및 n형 비정질 실리콘은 PECVD를 이용하여 증착하였고 i형 비정질 실리콘은 HWCVD를 이용하여 증착하였다. 만들어진 태양전지의 특성을 평가하기 위해 암전류 특성, 광전류 특성, 양자효율, 소수반송자수명을 측정하였다.

  • LED는 친환경 광원으로써 메탈램프에 비해 높은 광 변환 효율과 긴 수명을 갖고 있어 차세대 광원으로 널리 쓰이고 있다. 그러나 이러한 특성은 LED의 접합온도가 일정하게 유지 되어야 가능하다. 실제 LED는 PN접합으로 구성되어 접합온도가 상승될 경우 광 변환 효율의 저하, 색온도의 변화, 사용 수명의 감축을 야기 시키는 요소로 작용한다. 따라서 LED는 방열설계가 중요하며 방열설계가 제대로 되지 못한 경우에 대해서는 온도보상이 필요하다. 본 논문은 LED모듈에 접합온도를 LED업체에서 제공하는 그래프를 이용하여 간접적으로 추정하고 LED의 접합온도를 일정하게 유지 시키는 시스템을 제안하였다.
