The purpose of this study is to evaluate the horizontal shear strength on the interface between PC and cast-in-place concrete for PC composite beams. Six specimens were tested to examine the structural performance of the horizontal interface with different surface condition and stirrup detailing. Except for SF-291B specimen failed in flexural compression, strengths and deformation capacities of five specimens were determined by horizontal shear failure. Horizontal shear strengths by composite horizontal shear or shear friction in current codes could be used to predict the horizontal shear capacity of the interface for specimens. Also detailing for stirrup by PCI design provision could be used to accomplish the composite action in the interface.

The RC wale-steel beam stud connection may have smaller moment and shear resistance because the tensile and shear capacity of the studs are limited by the depth of RC beam. Especially, they are subjected to compressive axial load. This paper describes the experimental works to develop the connection details of RC wale-steel beam joints subjected to shear and axial loads. Shear connectors developed in this study are closed C type deformed bar, opened C type deformed bar, and U type deformed bar. From shear test, the shear performance of RC wale-steel beam joint with the developed connectors are compared with the stud connection. Test results indicated that the developed connectors were very effiecive to increase the shear strength.
Steel plate-concrete (SC) structure has recently been used in nuclear power structure because of its construction efficiency. In this study, experimental and analytical study to investigate the behavior of the SC structure's wall slab connection was carried out. Experiments were performed for typical SC and RC connections in order to examine the basic difference between each structure. Finite element analysis was performed and the result of the analysis was found to closely reflect the experimental result. By varying the thickness of the shear plate and friction coefficients and the distance of applied load from the wall, the influence of the parameters on the joint strength and failure modes were examined. Finally, it was confirmed that the joint strength formula proposed in th this research gives conservative results.
The double split tee connection, a type of beam-to-column moment connection, exhibits different behavioral characteristics according to changes in the thickness of the T-stub flange, the gauge distance of the high-strength bolt, and the number and diameter of high-strength bolts. In general, the double split tee connection is idealized and designed so that a T-stub fastened to the top and bottom supports a flexural moment, and a shear tab supports a shear force. However, if the double split tee connection is applied to low-and medium-rise steel structures, the size of the beam member becomes small, and thus the shear tab cannot be bolted to the web of a beam. In this regard, this study was conducted to propose connection details to ensure that the double split tee connection with a geometric shape can display sufficient shear resisting capacity. To this end, experiments were conducted using full-scale specimens for the double split tee connection.
Double-angle connections should be designed with enough stiffness and strength to properly resist various applied loads. Therefore, structural engineers should be able to predict some influential variables and take their effects into account in design. This study was performed to establish the effects of the number of bolts and bolt gage distance on the stiffness and strength of a double-angle connection under tension. Six experimental tests were conducted to describe the effects of these variables by comparing load-displacement relationship curves. In addition, two prediction models were proposed to estimate the initial stiffness and the maximum allowable tensile load based on the results of experimental tests. In the development of these prediction models, the effect of prying action was considered.
Interface shear strength of' concrete under static loading and deterioratiion of interface strength by fatigue loading in shear were experimentally investigated using composite beam test specimens. Thirteen beams were constructed. Five composite beams were tested statically until interface delaminations were observed in the static tests. Seven composite beam and one monolithically cast beam were subjected to two to three million cycles of fatigue load. Test variables were interface roughness, interface shear reinforcement, and presence of interface bond. The average interface shear strength of the composite beams with bonded-rough interface was 6, 060 kPa. No interface delamination was observed after cycling for the composite beams with bonded - rough interface and interface bond was not influenced by repeated application of the shear stress of 2.000 kPa(about 1/3 of the static interface shear strength). Smooth interface and unbonded-rough interface with shear reinforcement deteriorated under repeated shear loading.
An experimental program was initiated to investigate the structural capacity of PC (Precast Concrete) beam-column joints used for the underground parking structure. Static testing of 4 typical PC beam-column joints specimens was conducted. Specimens were designed to span a range of parameters typically encountered for such members, based on findings from the survey of existing PC joint details used in the construction fields in Korea. The specimens were four by their joint types and testing parameters. The specific structural behavior germane to each specimen, and general observations on overall member behavior as a function of the considered parameters, are reported. From the results of tests on four PC joints specimens, the beam-column joints of PC structure used for the underground parking building was found to have similar structural capacities when comparing to the cast-in-place concrete system.
