불규칙 접촉하중에서의 피로한도에 관한 연구 (Study on the fatigue Limit at Random Contact Loading)

  • This paper analyzes the subsurface stress at the spherical contact using Hamilton equation, and with that data, calculates the fatigue limit under the variations of friction coefficient using fatigue theory. After rough surface being made, this paper figures out the random load generated by contacting to the rough surface, analyzes the stress of its subsurface, and calculates the fatigue limit of the rough surface using fatigue theory. The three parts of the fatigue theory are applied, which are critical plane theory, stress invariant theory and mesoscopic theory.

  • Angular misalignment has a significant effect on the characteristics of angular contact ball bearings (ACBBs). This paper presents an analysis of fatigue life for ACBBs subjected to angular misalignment. A simulation model is developed with de Mul's bearing model and the ISO basic reference rating life model. Simulation is performed to calculate the life of the ACBBs subjected to angular misalignment. The numerical results show that angular misalignment influences the load distribution significantly, thus reducing the bearing rating life. The fatigue life of ACBBs is decreased by angular misalignment regardless of axial preload, external radial load and rotational speed. The results show that angular misalignment should be maintained at less than 1mrad for ACBBs.

  • For most bearings, it is a common requirement to have long durability. Especially wheel bearing fatigue life is the most important in automotive quality. The contact fatigue life analysis of automotive wheel bearing considering real raceway rough surface is presented in this paper. Contact stresses are obtained by contact analysis of a semi-infinite solid based on the use of influence functions; the subsurface stress field is obtained using rectangular patch solutions. Mesoscopic multiaxial fatigue criterion which can yield satisfactory results for non-proportional loading is then applied to predict fatigue damage. Suitable counting method and damage rule were used to calculate the fatigue life of random loading caused by rough surface. The life analysis considering real rough surface of wheel bearing raceway is in good agreement with the experimental results.

  • In case of contact fatigue, the accurate calculation of surface tractions and subsurface stress is essential to the predication of crack initiation life. Surface tractions influencing shear stress amplitude have been obtained by contact analysis based on influence function. Subsurface stress has been obtained by using rectangular patch solutions. In this study, to simulate asperity contact under sliding condition, the tip of asperity was simulated by sphere and to calculate crack initiation life in the substrate, dislocation pileup theory was used.

  • In general, fretting is a contact damage process due to micro-slip associated with small amplitude oscillatory movement between two surfaces in contact. Previous studies in fretting fatigue have observed a contact size effect related to contact width. The volume-averaging method of theoretically predicted contact stress fields was required to emulate experimental trends and to predict the observed contact size effects. This contact size effect is captured by the mean values of stresses and strains at the element integration points of FE model and two critical plane models (SWT, FS) in the present paper. It is shown that crack nucleation and fretting fatigue life can be predicted by the FE-based critical plane models.

  • Fretting contact and fretting fatigue are known to occur in mechanical devices which have fasteners subjected to oscillatory tangential load. Theoretical studies on fretting contact have been focussed on simple geometries, such as cylindrical contact problem. Recently, the contact problem of a flat rounded punch has been solved theoretically. The purpose of this paper is to show that the results of finite element analysis for the fretting contact problem are nearly consistent with the theoretical solutions.

  • A simple computational model for modeling of subsurface crack growth under cyclic contact loading is presented. In this model, it is assumed that the initial fatigue crack will initiate in the region of the maximum equivalent stress at certain depth under the contacting surface. The position and magnitude of the maximum equivalent stress are determined by using the equivalent contact model, which is based on the Hertzian contact conditions with frictional forces. The virtual crack extension method is used for simulation of the fatigue crack growth from the initial crack up to the formation of the surface pit due to contact fatigue. The relationships between the stress intensity factor and crack length are then determined for various combinations of equivalent contact radii and loadings.

  • The effect of surface roughness on the contact fatigue was investigated in this study. To accomplish this goal, contact analysis based on the influence functions and the rectangular patch solution was performed to obtain the subsurface stress. Mesoscopic multiaxial fatigue criterion is then applied to predict fatigue damage. Suitable counting method and damage rule were used to evaluate the fatigue life of random loading caused by rough surface. As a result of the analysis, relationship between the life and roughness as well as the creack initiation depth was revealed. Below the critical roughness, It is observed that the fatigue life has hardly changed and creack is initiated around the depth at which the maximum shear stress occurs. Different behavior, however, is observed in case that the roughness is above the critical value.

항공기 겹침이음 조립구조의 프레팅 피로수명 예측 (Prediction of Fretting Fatigue Life for Lap Joint Structures of Aircraft)

  • 항공기 주구조에 많은 부분은 겹침이음 형태의 조립구조이며 이러한 구조는 프레팅 손상으로 인해 단순피로에 비해 현저히 수명이 감소된다. 특히 노후 항공기의 경우 프레팅 피로균열은 감항안전을 저해하는 중요한 요인으로 최근 대두된 수명연장 문제와 관련해서도 손상허용성 평가에 프레팅 피로수명 예측이 필수적으로 요구되고 있다. 이러한 배경으로 본 연구에서는 볼트 체결력이 서로 다른 겹침이음 구조시편에 대하여 일련의 프레팅 피로시험을 수행하고 탄소성 접촉응력 유한요소해석 결과로부터 프레팅 파라미터를 구하고 균열발생 및 성장 수명예측 모델식과 최근 제안된 수정 모델식을 통하여 프레팅 피로수명을 예측하였다. 또한 시험결과와 비교분석함으로써 실제 항공기 겹침이음 구조에 프레팅 피로수명 예측 모델식의 적용 유효성을 고찰하였다.

T-Scan System을 이용한 Maximal Clenching과 Habitual Clenching의 비교연구 (Comparative Study on Maximal and Habitual Clenching Through T-Scan System)

  • 악구강계의 질환을 진단하고 치료후의 예후를 판정하기 위하여 maximal clenching시에 측정된 tooth contacts의 수와 분포가 이용되어 왔다. 그러나 maximal clenching시 반복된 tooth contacts의 측정은 저작근 피로등 문제점을 가지고 있다. 본연구는 건강한 성인 15명을 대상으로 maximal clenching 및 habitual clenching시 T-Scan system을 이용하여 치아접촉 수와 접촉시간을 측정, 비교 검토하여 habitual clenching을 이용한 방법이 Tooth contacts의 연구에 이용될 수 있는지를 확인 하는데 목적이 있으며, 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 1. Habitual clenching시 upright, semisupine position에서의 전측두근의 근활성은 maximal clenching시의 64.5%, 61.9% 및 73.3%로 나타났다. 2. Maximal clenching시 치아접촉 수와 접촉시간은 16.82개 및 0.429초로 나타났으며 habitual clenching시에는 11.65개 및 0.177초로 나타났다. 3. 치아접촉수와 접촉시간은 체위에 따라 크게 변화되지 않았다. 4. 치아접촉수와 접촉시간의 측정시에 habitual clenching을 이용하는 방법이 maximal clenching을 이용하는 방법보다 재현성이 더 높은 것으로 나타났다. 5. Tooth contacts의 연구시 habitual clenching을 기준으로 사용할 수 있다.
