Analysis of Flow and Pressure Downstream of a Weir using Image Technique (영상기법을 활용한 보 하류의 흐름 및 압력특성 분석)

  • 하천에서 홍수 예방 및 가뭄재해 방지를 목적으로 최근 4대강 살리기 사업이 수행되었다. 특히, 안정적인 용수공급 및 다양한 수재해 피해를 최소화하기위해 다기능보가 설치되었다. 설치된 보는 고정보와 가동보로 구분되며 평상시에는 고정보를 넘어가는 월류흐름이 발생하며 홍수 시에는 추가적으로 가동보를 개방하여 오리피스 흐름이 발생한다. 최근 기후변화로 인해 집중호우가 빈번히 발생하며 이는 보 주변에서 빠르고 복잡한 흐름을 유발하게 된다. 이러한 흐름특성은 보하류의 세굴문제뿐만 아니라 물받이와 바닥보호공의 안전성에 영향을 미칠 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 영상기법을 활용하여 도수가 발생하는 조건에서 고정보 하류의 물받이공 및 바닥보호공에 난류흐름특성 및 압력분포를 분석하였다. 길이 8.0 m, 폭 0.3 m를 갖는 개수로에서 실험을 수행하였으며 0.2 m 높이의 고정보는 상류경계로부터 3.0 m지점에 위치하였다. 보 하류부에서 유속성분은 비접촉식 유속측정 기법인 입자영상유속계(Particle Image velocimetry, PIV)와 기포흐름을 측정할 수 있는 기포영상유속계(Bubble Image velocimetry, BIV)를 적용하였다. 그러므로 기포 존재유무와 관계없이 보 하류부 구간에 대한 유속장 성분을 취득하였다. 도수흐름은 물받이공 및 바닥보호공 영역의 바닥면을 따라 빠른 유속을 갖는 제트류가 발생하고 수면과 바닥으로 강한 진동이 발생하여 불안정한 흐름이 야기된다. 바닥면에 작용하는 압력을 측정하기 위해 흐름방향을 따라 피에조미터를 설치하였고 압력수두 분포를 초고속카메라로 촬영하여 그 특성을 분석하였다. 실험을 결과를 통해 보 하류부에 영향을 미치는 인자를 도출하였으며 향후 보 설계기준에 반영할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • Nondestructive method to predict buckling load for the propellant tank of launch vehicle should be evaluated. Vibration correlation technique can predict the global buckling load of unstiffened cylindrical structure with geometric initial imperfection using correlation of natural frequency and compressive load from compressive test below the buckling load. In this study, vibration and buckling tests of a thin metal unstiffened propellant tank model subjected to internal pressure and compressive loads were performed and the test results were used for VCT to predict global buckling load. For the vibration test of thin structure, non-contact excitation method using a speaker was used. The response was measured with piezoelectric polymer(PVDF) sensor. Prediction results of VCT were compared with the measured buckling load in the test and the nondestructive global buckling load prediction method was verified.

  • The present study aims to numerically investigate the behavior of liquid droplet driven by capillarity force imbalance on horizontal surfaces ranging from hydrophilic to hydrophobic, under various conditions. The droplet behavior has been simulated using an in-house solution code(PowerCFD), which employs an unstructured cell-centered method based on a conservative pressure-based finite-volume method with interface capturing method(CICSAM) in a volume of fluid(VOF) scheme for phase interface capturing. The detailed droplet behavior was obtained under various conditions for droplets with different initial shapes, contact angles and surface tension forces(or Bond number). The mechanism of droplet transport was examined using the numerical results on the droplet shapes.

A Study on the Curing Bladder Shaping of Tire by Finite Element Method Using Contact Element (접촉요소를 이용한 유한요소법에 의한 타이어 가류브레더 팽창거동에 관한 연구)

  • In curing process of tire, contact and slip occurs between green tire and curing bladder. The curing process is a critical step in the manufacture of tires. In this investigation, curing bladder shaping is examined using a finite element method. Specifically, a finite element model between the inner part of green tire and the outer part of curing bladder is generated using contact element and curing bladder is generated using incompressible element. Numerical analysis are performed on two different bladder types, different overall outer diameters of curing bladder and different heights of curing bladder. Numerical results show that contact pressure is increased by using toroidal type of curing bladder, increasing overall diameter and increasing height of curing bladder. To obtain natural equilibrium carcass line, there is a requirement in increasing contact pressure of the section between side and bead.

A Study on the Sealing Characteristics of Multi-contact O-rings (다접오링의 밀봉특성 해석에 관한 연구)

  • This study presents sealing characteristics of multi-contact o-rings as functions of strain, compression stress, and contact normal stress using a FEM technique. The FEM results on the sealing characteristics show that the maximum strain, maximum compression stress, and maximum contact normal stress of multi-contact o-rings are approximately 1.7 times higher than those of conventional o-rings. This is due to a U-grooved cross section of multi-contact o-rings, and the multi-contact o-rings with a U-groove show more effective in sealing for high pressure vessels, valves, and gas equipments. And the extrusion failure in the multi- contact o-ring does not produce for an increased gas pressure due to a U-groove. This may extend sealing life compared to that of a conventional o-ring.

Mechanical characteristics of involute-circular arc composite tooth profile (인벌류우트-圓弧 合成齒形의 諸特性)

  • In this study, full-rounded tip curve of rack and its mating fillet curve of pinion in Involute-circular arc composite tooth profile are derived. Mechanical characteristics are calculated analytically, i.e., Specific sliding, Nominal bending stress at working root circle and the Contact factor of the arc of contact in circular arc part to the arc of double contact. These characteristics compared with standard involute tooth profile are improved in circular arc part of composite tooth profile. To obtain more efficient composite tooth profile, we studied these characteristics with regard to the changes of unwound angle and radius of circualr arc. And a design method of composite tooth profile is suggested. Composite tooth profile are compared with standard involute tooth profile.

  • PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) 는 벌크 형태는 물론 박막으로도 독특한 특성을 나타내는 물질이다. 매우 낮은 마찰계수, 발수표면특성, 화학적 비반응성은 다양한 방면의 적용이 가능하게 한다. 두께 $1-2{\mu}m$ 이나 50 nm 이하의 박막의 형태로서 발수 특성은 스퍼터링 조건에 따라서는 벌크 PTFE의 특성보다 뛰어나다. 순수한 PTFE 타겟을 사용하여 얇은 PTFE 막 증착을 위해 RF (radio-frequency) 스퍼터링을 하였다. 스퍼터 타겟 건 파워, 공정 압력, 그리고 기판 스테이지와 Si wafer 나 다양한 시편에 인가되는 RF 바이어스 (bias) 등과 같은 스퍼터링 변수의 변화가 가능하다. 공정 변수에 따라서 RF 스퍼터링에 의한 순수한 PTFE 박막과 바이어스가 인가된 유사 PTFE 박막을 비교하여 탐구하였다. 스퍼터링에 의한 PTFE 코팅은 접촉각이 100도 또는 그이상의 초발수성을 나타내는 장점을 갖고 있고, 90% 이상의 높은 투과도를 나타낸다. PTFE 타겟을 사용한 종래의 일반적인 스퍼터링에 의하여, 일예로 실리콘 웨이퍼상에 증착된 코팅막은 낮은 경도와 기판과의 밀착력이 좋지 않은 문제를 갖고 있다. 높은 에너지 환경에서 만들어진 PTFE 코팅은 기존의 스퍼터링 방식으로 만들어진 코팅에 비해 다른 특성을 나타낸다. PTFE 막의 경도와 밀착력을 높이고자 bias를 인가한 RF 스퍼터링을 시도하였다. 코팅 접촉각, 투과도, 나노인덴터에 의한 경도, 그리고 스크래치 테스트에 의한 코팅막의 밀착력을 살펴보았다. PTFE 폴리머 타겟을 사용한 RF 스퍼터링으로 만들어진 고경도 PTFE 유사 코팅의 경도 변화 기구를 고찰하였다.

Wheel-Rail Contact Analysis Considering Axle Deformation Using a One-Dimensional Beam Element (1차원 빔요소를 활용한 차축 변형고려 차륜-레일 접촉해석)

  • It is necessary to analyze the exact contact position and contact stress of the wheel-rail in order to predict damage to the wheel and rail. This study presents a wheel-rail contact analysis model that considers the deformation of the axle. When a wheel-rail contact analysis is performed using a full three-dimensional model of the wheelset and rail, the analytical model becomes very inefficient due to the increase in analysis time and cost. Therefore, modeling the element-coupling model of the wheel and rail as a three-dimensional element and the axle as a one-dimensional element is proposed. The wheel-rail contact characteristics in the proposed analysis model for straight and curved lines were analyzed and compared with the conventional three-dimensional analysis model. Considering the accuracy of the analysis results and time, the result shows that the proposed analytical model has almost the same accuracy as a full three-dimensional model, but the computational effort is significantly reduced.

  • Internal and external heat sources will cause to deform to machine elements in the contact joint of structure, which results in the change of contact pressure distribution different from initial assembly. Heat induced variations of contact pressure will change the static and dynamic properties such as contact stiffness, damping as well as contact heat conduction in the structure In order to design and control the intelligent machine tool operating in variant conditions more sophisticatedly, the good prediction for the changes of prescribed properties are strongly required especially in the contact elements adjacent to the rotational or linear bearing. This paper presents some computational and experimental results in regard to static and dynamic characteristics of the press-fitted bush and shaft assembly which is a model of the bearing innerrace and shaft assembly. In the condition of heat generation on the outer surface of the bush, the effects of changes in the negative clearance and the heat flux on pressure distribution and dynamic properties are investigated. Results of this study show that the edge effect of the bush and the initial clearance have effects on the transient dynamic characteristics significantly.

Tribological Characteristics of C/C-SiC-Cu Composite and Al/SiC Composite Materials under Various Contact Conditions (접촉 조건에 따른 C/C-SiC-Cu복합재와 Al/SiC복합재의 마모 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The surface temperature of disc brakes varies during braking, which can affect the friction and wear behavior of braking systems. In order to develop an efficient braking system, the friction and wear behaviors of brake materials need to be clearly understood. In this work, the friction and wear behavior of the C/C-SiC-Cu composite and the Al/SiC composite, which are used in disc braking systems, were investigated. Both the surface temperature and contact pressure were studied. A pin-on-reciprocating tribotester was used for this purpose, in order to control temperature and load. Results showed that the friction varied significantly with temperature and sliding distance. It was found that a transfer layer of compacted wear debris formed on the wear track of the two materials. These layers caused the surface roughness of the wear track to increase. The outcome of this work is expected to serve as a basis for the development of braking systems under various operating conditions.
