  • In the present paper, the nondestructive test method was suggest to establish the bonding status of a motor case assembly composed of a steel motor case, adiabatic rubber layer and an ablative composite tube with strain data, AE(acoustic emission) signals and UT(ultrasonic test) data. And, finite element analysis was conducted to verify quantitatively the bonding status of motor case assembly under inner pressure loading. The bonding status could be judged whether the bonding status is perfect or contact condition by the data correlation study with AE signals and strain data measured from air pressure test. And, to classify the bonding status of motor case and rubber layer among bonding layers, UT method was also applied. From this study, the bonding status could be classified and detected into fourth types for all bonding layers as follows: (1) initial un-bonding, (2) perfect do-bonding during an air pressure test, (3) partially de-bonding during an air pressure test, and (4) perfect bonding.

  • 이 논문은 반도전 실리콘 고무 표면에 코로나 방전 처리하여 이종의 실리콘 고무와의 접착 특성을 나타낸 것이다. 반도전 실리콘 고무 표면 상태를 발수성 등급에 따른 분류와 FTIR(Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy)를 사용하여 평가하였다.

  • A number of thin-film deposition technologies have been developed. However, even a thin film whose properties are excellent may not be used as long as the adhesion strength between the thin film and the substrate is poor. For thin films, the adhesion strength is as important as the properties. In the present article, relation between interface structure and thin film adhesion, and factors affecting thin film adhesion are reviewed. Two kinds of factors, internal factors and external factors, affect thin film adhesion. Such factors as composition, structure, and reactivity of both thin film and substrate as well as surface roughness of the substrate and residual stress of the thin film belong to internal factors. And such factors as load, temperature, humidity, and corrosive environment belong to external factors. It is also reviewed that how we can control the internal factors and the external factors to enhance or keep the adhesion strength.

  • The purposes of this study were to evaluate clinical applicability of resin modified glass ionomer cements and to determine the effect of salivary contamination on the tensile bond strength. Fourty extracted human permanent premolars were prepared lot bonding and standard edgewise brackets were bonded with Ortho-One, Fuji Ortho LC, Vitremer and Advance. Fourty extracted human permanent premolars were contaminated with saliva, dried and bonded with same materials above. The tensile bond strength was tested by Instron testing device aster storage in normal saline at ,$37^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours from bonding. The results were as follows : 1. The tensile bond strength of Ortho-One group was $7.68\pm1.76$, Advance group was $7.87\pm2.80$, Fuji Ortho LC group was $4.99\pm2.53$, Vitremer group was $2.80\pm0.88$ MPa. The tensile bond strength in contaminated condition of Ortho-One group was $4.12\pm1.67$, Advance group was $5.37\pm0.68$, Fuji Ortho LC group was $4.41\pm1.61$, Vitremer group was $2.60\pm1.10$ Mpa. 2. Salivary contamination did not affect the tensile bond strength when compared with the uncontaminated enamel group in Fuji Ortho LC and Vitremer (p>0.05) and there was great significant difference in the tensile bond strength of Ortho-One and Advance. 3. Advance, Ortho-One and Fuji Ortho LC seemed to have clinically a proper bond strength.

  • As the enhancement of indoor air quality is increasingly compelling the use of natural materials without any emission, this study reports the preparation and performance of natural garlic adhesives for wallpaper. The natural garlic adhesives were successfully prepared by the extraction of the clove of raw garlic with water to isolate carbohydrates and proteins. Properties of the prepared garlic adhesives such as the non volatile solids content, viscosity, density, and pH were 62%, 2,789 mPa.s, $1.3g/cm^3$, and 6.6, respectively. The non-volatile solids content has a great impact on the adhesion performance of the prepared garlic adhesives, which was adequate about 60%. Bonding strength of prepared garlic adhesives was greater than the requirement of a Korean standard for wallpaper. In addition, the garlic adhesives showed antibacterial activity inheriting from the garlic. It is expected that the prepared garlic adhesives could be used as safe and natural adhesives without emitting any volatile organic compounds and formaldehyde gas.

  • Deterioration of long-term dentin adhesion durability is thought to occur by hydrolytic degradation within hydrophilic domains of the adhesive and hybrid layers. This study investigated the hypothesis that priming the collagen network with an organic solvent displace water without collapse and thereby obtain good bond strength with an adhesive made of hydrophobic monomers and organic solvents. Three experimental adhesives were prepared by dissolving two hydrophobic monomers, bisphenol-A-glycidylmethacrylate (Bis-GMA) and triethyleneglycol dimethacrylate (TEGDMA), into acetone, ethanol or methanol. After an etching and rinsing procedure, the adhesives were applied onto either wet dentin surfaces (wet bonding) or dentin surfaces primed with the same solvent (solvent-primed bonding). Microtensile bond strength (MTBS) was measured at 48 hrs, 1 month and after 10,000 times of thermocycles. The bonded interfaces were evaluated using a scanning electron microscope (SEM). Regardless of bonding protocols, well-developed hybrid layers were observed at the bonded interface in most specimens. The highest mean MTBS was observed in the adhesive containing ethanol at 48 hrs. With solvent-primed bonding, increased MTBS tendencies were seen with thermo cycling in the adhesives containing ethanol or methanol. However, in the case of wet bonding, no increase in MTBS was observed with aging.
