  • In this paper I will discuss definitions of hypermedia, multimedia and hypertext. Hypertext is the grouping of relevant information in the form of nodes. These nodes are then connected together through links. In the case of hypertext the nodes contain text or graphics. Multimedia is the combining of different media types for example sound, animation, text, graphics and video for the presentation of information by making use of computers. Hypermedia can be viewed as an extension of hypertext and multimedia. It is based on the concept of hypertext that uses nodes and links in the structuring of information in the system. In this case the nodes consist of an the different data types that are mentioned in the multimedia definition above. The 'node-and-link' concept is used in organisation of the information in hypermedia systems. The 'book' metaphor is an example of the way these systems are implemented. This concept is explained and a few advantages and disadvantages of making use of hypermedia systems are discussed. A new approach for the development of hypermedia systems, namely the knowledge-based approach is now looked into. Joel Peing-Ling Loo proposed this approach because he thought that it is the most effective way for handling this kind of technology. A semantic-based hypermedia model is developed in this approach to formulate solutions for the restrictions in presenting information authoring, maintenance and retrieval. The knowledge-based presentation of information includes the use of conventional data structures. These data structures make use of frames(objects), slots and the inheritance theory that is also used in expert systems. Relations develop between the different objects as these objects are included in the database. Relations can also exist between frames by means of attributes that belong to the frames.

  • Recently there is growing interest in LBS requiring real-time services and the spatial main memory DBMS for efficient Telematics services. In order to optimize existing disk-based spatial indexes of the spatial main memory DBMS in the main memory, spatial index structures have been proposed, which minimize failures in cache access by reducing the entry size. However, because the reduction of entry size requires compression based on the MBR of the parent node or the removal of redundant MBR, the cost of MBR reconstruction increases in index update and the efficiency of search is lowered in index search. Thus, to reduce the cost of MBR reconstruction, this paper proposed the RSMB (relative-sized MBR)compression technique, which applies the base point of compression differently in case of broad distribution and narrow distribution. In case of broad distribution, compression is made based on the left-bottom point of the extended MBR of the parent node, and in case of narrow distribution, the whole MBR is divided into cells of the same size and compression is made based on the left-bottom point of each cell. In addition, MBR was compressed using a relative coordinate and size to reduce the cost of search in index search. Lastly, we evaluated the performance of the proposed RSMBR compression technique using real data, and proved its superiority.

  • In this paper, we suggest a cache mechanism to improve the speed fo query processing in distributed directory environment. For this, request and result and result about objects in remote site are store in the cache of local site. A cache mechanism developed through six phases; 1) Cached information which stored in distributed directory system is classified as application data, system data and meta data. 2) Cache system architecture is designed according to classified information. 3) Cache schema are designed for each cache information. 4) Least-TTL algorithms which use the weighted value of geograpical information and access frquency for replacements are developed for datacaches(application cache, system cache). 5) Operational algorithms are developed for meta data cache which has meta data tree. This tree is based on the information of past queries and improves the speed ofquery processing by reducing the scope of search space. 6) Finally, performance evaluations are performed by comparing with proposed cache mechanism and other mechanisms.

  • The R-trees are usually used for an index of trajectories in moving-objects databases. However, they need to access a number of nodes to trace same trajectories because of considering only a spatial proximity. Overlaps and dead spaces should be minimized to enhance the performance of range queries in moving-objects indexes. Trajectories of moving-objects should be preserved to enhance the performance of the trajectory queries. In this paper, we propose the TP3DR-tree(Trajectory Preserved 3DR-tree) using clusters of trajectories for range and trajectory queries. The TP3DR-tree uses two split policies: one is a spatial splitting that splits the same trajectory by clustering and the other is a time splitting that increases space utilization. In addition, we use connecting information in non-leaf nodes to enhance the performance of combined-queries. Our experiments show that the new index outperforms the others in processing queries on various datasets.

  • This paper presents the Web service generation system using virtual environments and databases. Main features include that the environments and databases are generated and maintained correspondingly. It means that the virtual environments are changed automatically if the databases are updated, and also that the databases are maintained accordingly as the information about the environments are modified at the scene End users can modify the property of the virtual environments in the scene directly using the VRML edit interface, which visualizes the structures of virtual environments. Each object can be accessed through the VRML editor, its property be modified directly, and the information is updated in the database automatically. Web service pages are maintained accordingly. In addition, we define a texture mapping method based on weighted view interpolation using 2 photo images for a scene. A texture mapping interface Is also provided for end users to generate realistic images themselves.

  • We predict a context of various structures by using Bayesian Networks Algorithms, Three-Dimensional Structures Algorithms and Genetic Algorithms. However, these algorithms have unavoidable problems when providing a context-aware service in reality due to a lack of practicality and the delay of process time in real-time environment. As far as context-aware system for specific purpose is concerned, it is very hard to be sure about the accuracy and reliability of prediction. This paper focuses on reasoning and prediction technology which provides a stochastic mechanism for context information by incorporating various context information data. The objective of this paper is to provide optimum services to users by suggesting an intellectual reasoning and prediction based on hierarchical context information. Thus, we propose a design of user location prediction algorithm using sequential matching with n-size flexible window scheme by taking user's habit or behavior into consideration. This algorithm improves average 5.10% than traditional algorithms in the accuracy and reliability of prediction using the Flexible Window Scheme.

  • Complete Subtree scheme(CS) is a well known broadcast encryption scheme to perform group rekeying in a stateless manner. However, statelessness comes at a cost in terms of storage and message overhead in transmitting key material. We propose a Merged Complete Subtree scheme(MCS) to reduce the communication overhead. It is more practical to make broadcast encryption schemes in network environments with limited bandwidth resources. We define all possible subset unions for ever two subsets of CS as new subsets having own key. The modification causes more storage overhead. Nevertheless, it is possible to make the size of a header, including key materials, half using subset unions of MCS, because the size of a header depends on the number of used subsets. Our evaluation therefore shows that the proposed scheme significantly improves the communication overhead of CS, reducing by half the rekey communication cost. The proposed scheme has the advantage of rekey communication cost when the number of revoked users is significant percentage of the number of potential users. The proposed scheme is fully collusion resistant.

  • As the use of various application services utilizing Web and IoT and the need for large amounts of data management expand accordingly, the importance of efficient data expression and exchange scheme and data query processing is increasing. JSON, characterized by its simplicity, is being used in various fields as a format for data exchange and data storage instead of XML, which is a standard data expression and exchange language on the Web. This means that it is important to develop indexing and query processing techniques to effectively access and search large amounts of data expressed in JSON. Therefore, in this paper, we modeled JSON data with a hierarchical structure in a tree form, and proposed indexing and query processing using the path concept. In particular, we designed an index structure using a suffix array widely used in text search and introduced simple and complex path-based JSON data query processing methods.

  • Typical tree-based spatial index structures are divided into a data-partitioning index structure such as R-Tree and a space-partitioning index structure such as KD-Tree. In recent years, researches on hybrid index structures combining advantages of these index structures have been performed extensively. However, because the split boundary extension of the node to which a new spatial object is inserted may extend split boundaries of other neighbor nodes in existing researches, overlaps between nodes are increased and the query processing cost is raised. In this paper, we propose a hybrid index structure, called SQR-Tree that can support efficient processing of spatial queries to solve these problems. SQR-Tree is a combination of SQ-Tree(Spatial Quad- Tree) which is an extended Quad-Tree to process non-size spatial objects and R-Tree which actually stores spatial objects associated with each leaf node of SQ-Tree. Because each SQR-Tree node has an MBR containing sub-nodes, the split boundary of a node will be extended independently and overlaps between nodes can be reduced. In addition, a spatial object is inserted into R-Tree in each split data space and SQ-Tree is used to identify each split data space. Since only R-Trees of SQR-Tree in the query area are accessed to process a spatial query, query processing cost can be reduced. Finally, we proved superiority of SQR-Tree through experiments.
