Electrical and Mechanical Properties of Carbon Particle Reinforced Rubber for Electro-Active Polymer Electrode (전기활성 고분자 전극용 탄소입자 강화고무의 전기적 및 기계적 특성)

  • The electrical and mechanical properties of room temperature vulcanized (RTV) silicone rubber composites are investigated as functions of multi-walled carbon nanotube (CNT), carbon black (CB), and thinner content. The thinner is used to improve the CNT and CB dispersion in the matrix. The electrical and mechanical properties of the composite with CNT are improved when compared to the composite with CB at the same content. As the thinner content is 80 phr, the electric resistance of the composite decreases significantly with the CNT content and shows contact point saturation of CNT at 2.5 phr. As the thinner content increases, the dispersion of conductive particles improves; however, the critical CB content increases because of the reduction in the CB weight ratio. It is believed that an electrode that needs good flexibility and excellent electrical properties can be manufactured when the amount of CNT and CB are increased with the thinner content.

Poly(vinyl alcohol)-based Polymer Electrolyte Membrane for Solid-state Supercapacitor (고체 슈퍼캐퍼시터를 위한 폴리비닐알콜 고분자 전해질막)

  • In this study, we reported a solid-state supercapacitor consisting of titanium nitride (TiN) nanofiber and poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT-PSS) conducting polymer electrode and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)-based polymer electrolyte membrane. The TiN nanofiber was selected as electrode materials due to high electron conductivity and 2-dimensional structure which is beneficial for scaffold effect. PEDOT-PSS is suitable for organic/inorganic composites due to good redox reaction with hydrogen ions in electrolyte and good dispersion in solution. By synergetic effect of TiN nanofiber and PEDOT-PSS, the PEDOT-PSS/TiN electrode showed higher surface area than the flat Ti foil substrate. The PVA-based polymer electrolyte membrane could prevent leakage and explosion problem of conventional liquid electrolyte and possess high specific capacitance due to the fast ion diffusion of small $H^+$ ions. The specific capacitance of PEDOT-PSS/TiN supercapacitor reached 75 F/g, which was much higher than that of conventional carbon-based supercapacitors.

  • Resistive random access memory (ReRAM)는 낮은 동작 전압, 빠른 동작 속도, 고집적화 등의 장점으로 인해 차세대 비휘발성 메모리 소자로써 많은 관심을 받고 있다. 최근에 ReRAM 절연막으로 NiOx, TiOx, AlOx TaOx, HfOx와 같은 binary metal oxide 물질들을 적용하는 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 특히, HfOx는 안정적인 동작 특성을 나타낸다는 점에서 ReRAM 절연막 물질로 적합하다고 보고되고 있다. ReRAM 절연막을 형성할 때, 물리 기상 증착 방법 (PVD)이나 화학 기상 증착법 (CVD)과 같은 방법이 많이 이용된다. 이러한 증착 방법들은 고품질의 박막을 형성시킬 수 있는 장점이 있다. 하지만, 높은 온도에서의 공정과 고가의 진공 장비가 이용되기 때문에 경제적인 문제가 있으며, 기판 또는 금속에 플라즈마 손상으로 인한 문제가 발생할 수 있다. 따라서 이러한 문제점들을 개선하기 위해 용액 공정이 많은 관심을 받고 있다. 용액 공정은 공정과정이 간단할 뿐만 아니라 소자의 대면적화가 가능하고 공정온도가 낮으며 고가의 진공장비가 필요하지 않은 장점을 가진다. 따라서 본 연구에서는, 용액공정을 이용하여 HfOx 기반의 ReRAM 제작하였고 $25^{\circ}C$$85^{\circ}C$에서 ReRAM의 동작특성에 미치는 compliance current의 영향을 평가하였다. 실험 방법으로는, hafnium chloride (0.1 M)를 2-methoxyethanol에 충분히 용해시켜서 precursor를 제작하였다. 이후, p-type Si 기판 위에 습식산화를 통하여 300 nm 두께의 SiO2 절연층을 성장시킨 후, 하부전극을 형성하기 위해 electron beam evaporation을 이용하여 10/100 nm 두께의 Ti/Pt 전극을 증착하였다. 순차적으로, 제작된 산화물 precursor를 이용하여 Pt 위에 spin coating 방법으로 1000 rpm 10 초, 6000 rpm 30초의 조건으로 두께 35 nm의 HfOx 막을 증착하였다. 최종적으로, solvent 및 불순물을 제거하기 위해 $180^{\circ}C$의 온도에서 10 분 동안 열처리를 진행하였으며, 상부 전극을 형성하기 위해 electron beam evaporation을 이용하여 Ti와 Al을 각각 50 nm, 100 nm의 두께로 증착하였다. ReRAM 동작에서 compliance current가 미치는 영향을 평가하기 위하여 compliance current를 10mA에서 1mA까지 변화시키면서 측정한 결과, $25^{\circ}C$에서는 compliance current의 크기와 상관없이 일정한 메모리 윈도우와 우수한 endurance 특성을 얻는 것을 확인하였다. 한편, $85^{\circ}C$의 고온에서 측정한 경우에는 1mA의 compliance current를 적용하였을 때, $25^{\circ}C$에서 측정된 메모리 윈도우 크기를 비슷하게 유지하면서 더 우수한 endurance 특성을 얻는 것을 확인하였다. 결과적으로, 용액공정 방법으로 제작된 ReRAM을 측정하는데 있어서 compliance current를 줄이면 보다 우수한 endurance 특성을 얻을 수 있으며, ReRAM 소자의 전력소비감소에 효과적이라고 기대된다.

Development of flexible energy storage device based on reduced graphene oxide (rGO)/single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) composite (환원된 그래핀/단일벽 탄소나노튜브 복합체를 이용한 플렉시블 에너지 저장 매체의 개발)

  • We report on the preparation of reduced graphene oxide (rGO)/single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) electrodes deposited onto flexible polyethylene terephthalate (PET) via spray coating technique. The highest capacitance value of the unbent rGO/SWNTs electrode was $82Fg^{-1}$ in 1 M $H_2SO_4$ at $100mVs^{-1}$, which decreased to $38Fg^{-1}$ after 500 bending cycle. Further characterization, including galvanostatic charge/discharge measurements and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), showed that the rGO/SWNTs electrode retained a well-defined capacitive response after repetitive bending cycle. Overall, the rGO/SWNTs composite electrode showed reasonable electrochemical properties even prolonged bending cycle. Approximately 50% of the initial capacitance for the rGO/SWNTs composite electrode is remained after 500 bending cycle, making the electrode a potential option for flexible energy storage applications.

Improvement of High-Temperature Performance of LiMn2O4 Cathode by Surface Coating (표면코팅을 통한 LiMn2O4 양극의 고온성능 개선)

  • An indium-tin oxide (ITO) coated spinel manganese oxide (${LiMn_2}{O_4}$, LMO) is prepared and its high-temperature ($55^{\circ}C$) cycle performance and rate capability are examined. A severe electrolyte decomposition and film deposition is observed on the un-coated ${LiMn_2}{O_4}$ cathode, which leads to a significant electrode polarization and capacity fading. Such an electrode polarization is, however, greatly reduced for the ITO-coated (> 2 mol%) LMO cathode, which leads to an improved cycle performance. This can be rationalized by a suppression of electrolyte decomposition, which is in turn indebted to a decrease in the direct contact area between LMO and electrolyte. The suppression of film deposition on the ITO-coated LMO cathode is confirmed by infra-red spectroscopy. The rate capability is also improved by the surface coating, which may be resulted from a suppression of resistive film deposition and high electric conductivity of ITO itself.

  • $PbO-B_2O_3-SiO_2-Al_2O_3$, system was investigated for optical, thermal and electrical properties of transparent dielectric. We also studied the reaction between transparent dielectric and transparent electrode(Indium Tin Oxide, ITO) during firing. For the evaluation of properties, dielectrics were prepared under the conditions fired at 520~58$0^{\circ}C$ with 12$\mu\textrm{m}$ thickness. In the reaction between dielectrics and electrode(ITO), In ions diffused into dielectric layer, while Sn ion diffusion was not observed. The coefficient of thermal expansion, the dielectric constant, the glass transition temperature and the transmittance of the dielectric were greatly dependent on PbO content. The increase of the coefficient of thermal expansion and the dielectric constant were monitored by increasing PbO, while the glass transition temperature and the transmittance were decreased. With the increased $Al_2O_3/B_2O_3$ ratio, the coefficient of thermal expansion and the transmittance were decreased, while the dielectric constant was increased. The glass transition temperature did not change significantly.

  • The conventional pattern-methods for discrimination of acupoint, meridian line which is the basic object of diagnosis and medical treatment in oriental medicine is discriminated the conduction point by the stimulation in body skin with DC. But, it is not sufficient to truth in discrimination ratio, coincident ratio, body effect, reproductivity. Therefore, this paper is extracting the optimal parameter of frequency and waveform in order to improve the conventional pattern, and proposing the SPAC(Single Power Alternative Current) stimulus pattern applying that. Also, this algorithm proposes to be able to discriminate with low pressure of the electrode by displaying in the level meter both the absolution and relation value of the skin current. It is able to decrease pain and body effect by electrode pressure and discriminate acupoint regardless of skin current in difficult discrimination spot. It is compared the performance of system applying the extracted optimal parameter and algorithm, and it is confirmed that there is difference in discrimination parameter of acupoint reacted to the individual and the meridian. It is compared that discrimination, coincident ratio of the traditional acupoints as the acupoint stimulation pattern. It is confirmed truth of optimal parameter and discrimination algorithm. Formant-broadened CMS Using the Log-spectrum Transformed from the Cepstrum (켑스트럼으로부터 변환된 로그 스펙트럼을 이용한 포먼트 평활화 켑스트럴 평균 차감법)

  • In this paper, we propose a channel normalization method to improve the performance of CMS (cepstral mean subtraction) which is widely adopted to normalize a channel variation for speech and speaker recognition. CMS which estimates the channel effects by averaging long-term cepstrum has a weak point that the estimated channel is biased by the formants of voiced speech which include a useful speech information. The proposed Formant-broadened Cepstral Mean Subtraction (FBCMS) is based on the facts that the formants can be found easily in log spectrum which is transformed from the cepstrum by fourier transform and the formants correspond to the dominant poles of all-pole model which is usually modeled vocal tract. The FBCMS evaluates only poles to be broadened from the log spectrum without polynomial factorization and makes a formant-broadened cepstrum by broadening the bandwidths of formant poles. We can estimate the channel cepstrum effectively by averaging formant-broadened cepstral coefficients. We performed the experiments to compare FBCMS with CMS, PFCMS using 4 simulated telephone channels. In the experiment of channel estimation, we evaluated the distance cepstrum of real channel from the cepstrum of estimated channel and found that we were able to get the mean cepstrum closer to the channel cepstrum due to an softening the bias of mean cepstrum to speech. In the experiment of text-independent speaker identification, we showed the result that the proposed method was superior than the conventional CMS and comparable to the pole-filtered CMS. Consequently, we showed the proposed method was efficiently able to normalize the channel variation based on the conventional CMS.

Implementation on the Portable Blood Gas Analyzer and Performance Estimation (휴대형 혈액가스분석 시스템의 구현 및 성능평가)

  • In this study, we implemented the measurement of pH, $pO_2$, $pCO_2$ of the arterial blood on a portable blood gas analysis system. This system is consist of two parts of hardware and software. The hardware part is divided into a fluidic mechanism and an electronic circuit unit. The system program is composed of operating, washing, correcting, and measuring routines. Both of 1-point and 2-point calibration schemes were used to enhance the accuracy of the measurement. In order to evaluate the performance of the developed system, we measured and performed statistical analysis on the characteristics of the sensing electrode response. As a result, coefficient variation was within 1.12, and maximum error was within 1.298%. We confirmed development possibility of portable blood gas analyzer.

The Quality Assurance Technique of Resistance Spot Welding Pieces using Neuro-Fuzzy Algorithm (뉴로-퍼지 알고리즘을 이용한 점용접재의 강도추론 기술)

  • The resistance Spot Welding is widely used in the field of assembling the plates. However we don't still have any satisfactory solution, which is non-destructive quality evaluation in real-time or on-line, against it. Moreover, even though the rate of welding under the condition of expulsion has been high until now, quality control of welding against expulsion hasn't still been established. In this paper, it was proposed on the quality assurance technique of resistance spot welding pieces using Neuro-Fuzzy algorithm. Four parameters from electrode separation signal in the case of non-expulsion, and dynamic resistance patterns in the case of expulsion are selected as fuzzy input parameters. The parameters consist of Fuzzy Inference System are determined through Neuro-Learning algorithm. And then, fuzzy Inference System is constructed. It was confirmed that the fuzzy inference values of strength have within ${\pm}$4% error specimen in comparison with real strength for the total strength range, and the specimen percent having within ${\pm}$1% error was 88.8%. According to KS(Korean Industrial Standard), tensile-shear strength limit for electric coated of zinc is 400kgf/mm2. Judging to the quality of welding is good or bad, according to this criterion and the results of inference, the probability of misjudgement that good quality is valuated into poor one was 0.43%, on contrary it was 2.59%. Finally, the proposed Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System can infer the tensile-shear strength of resistance spot welding pieces with high performance for all cases-non-expulsion and expulsion. And On-Line Welding Quality Inspection System will be realized sooner or later.
