Regional Diversity Pattern of Spring Moths and Climatic Effects on Moth Catches (봄 출현 나방의 지역별 종 다양성 양상과 출현에 미치는 기후영향 연구)

  • We investigated the diversity pattern of spring moths across two regions of South Korea, Yongin city (middle part) and Muan gun (southern part) and the effects of climatic variables on moth species richness and abundance. Moths were weekly collected using UV light trap in April from 2013 to 2015. Climatic factors included growth degree day with base temperature 8 (GDD8), average temperature, precipitation, duration of sunshine, wind speed, and snow cover. The climatic effects on moth species richness and abundance were analyzed by short (0~3 weeks before collecting) and long (4~12 weeks before collecting) time periods, respectively. The diversity of spring moths showed the similar pattern of species composition at family level. However the dominant family differed depending on the region: Geometridae at middle part and Noctuidae at southern part. In addition the dominant species of Noctuidae occurred early in April and that of Geometridae moths occurred later in April. Three short-term climatic factors, GDD8, duration of sunshine, and precipitation one week before collecting were significant on moth species richness and abundance, while only one long-term climatic factor, temperature four weeks before collecting was significantly affected on moth species richness. We found that both Geometridae and Noctuidae were dominant in spring moth fauna across South Korea and they were different in the dominance and flying time in April. The occurrences of spring moths were largely affected by warmness and precipitation. The current global warming could affect the occurrence of spring moths and this should be monitored consistently.

Physicochemical Properties of Cross-linked and Partially Enzymatically Hydrolyzed (CLE) Waxy Rice Starch (가교화 후 효소처리(CLE) 찹쌀 전분의 물리화학적 특성)

  • This study examined the physicochemical properties of chemically and enzymatically cross-modified waxy rice starches. The waxy rice starch was cross-linked using phosphorous oxychloride, and then partially hydrolyzed with four commercial ${\alpha}$-amylases (Fungamyl, Termamyl, Liquozyme, Kleistase). Swelling power and the moisture sorption isotherm did not change with cross-modification. Two cross-modified waxy rice starches (hydrolyzed with Termamyl and Liquozyme) showed higher solubilities than native starch and the two other cross-modified starches (hydrolyzed with Fungamyl and Kleistase). In terms of RVA characteristics, the two cross-modified waxy rice starches hydrolyzed with Termamyl and Liquozyme, respectively, had lower peak viscosity, holding strength, and final viscosity than the native starch. However, the two starches hydrolyzed with Fungamyl and Kleistase, respectively, revealed higher peak viscosity, holding strength, and final viscosity than the native starch. No differences were displayed in the X-ray diffraction patterns and DSC thermal characteristics of the cross-modified waxy rice starch as compared to both the native and cross-linked starches, indicating that cross-linking and enzymatic hydrolysis occurred in the amorphous region and did not alter the crystalline region.

Preparation of Yogurt Added with Potato and its Characteristics (감자를 첨가한 요구르트의 제조와 특성)

  • The curd yogurt (total solid content: 14%) was prepared from milk added with skim milk powder and potato puree. Potato puree comprised 9.5. 13,8 and 17.9% (dry basis) of the milk-potato mixture, and the effect of potato on the quality of yogurt was investigated. Addition of potato remarkably stimulated acid production and propagation of lactic acid bacteria, and viable cells reached above $3.9{\times}10^{10}$ CFU/ml after 12 hours. As potato content increased, the ratio of lactic acid content to total acidity decreased, while citric acid increased. The major organic acids of yogurt were lactic acid, citric acid, and acetic acid. Viscosity of yogurt was increased in proportion to the increment of the potato content. After 24 hours of incubation, the sensory score of yogurt containing 13.8% (dry basis) potato showed better sensory acceptability. When curd yogurt added with potato was kept at $5^{\circ}C$ for 15 day, its keeping quality was relatively good. Viable cells of lactic acid bacteria and ${\beta}-galactosidase$ activity decreased rapidly at pH 1.5, and 2.5, but the group added with potato was more stable than control.

Various Properties and Phenolic Acid Contents of Rices and Rice Brans with Different Milling Fractions (품종 및 도정도별 백미와 미강의 특성 및 페놀산 함량)

  • Effects of rice cultivars and degree of milling (DM) on composition, pasting properties, total phenolic contents, and distribution of phenolic acids were investigated. Rice and bran fractions with 94.4, 92.0, and 90.4% milling yields from brown rice of four cultivars (Odae, Nampyung, Chucheong, and Ilmi) were used. Fat and ash contents of milled rices decreased with increasing DM, whereas protein contents were not affected. In rice bran, differences in fat and ash contents by cultivars were higher than those caused by DM. With increasing DM, gelatinization temperature of rice flour decreased, whereas peak viscosity and hold viscosity at $95^{\circ}C$ increased. While cold viscosity, final viscosity, and setback varied among cultivars, DM had little effect. Total polyphenolic contents in brown rice, milled rice, and rice bran were 93.9-88.8, 30.3-71.9, and 310.0-541.6 mg catechin eq/100g, respectively. Major phenolic compounds were identified as ferulic and p-coumaric acids. Total phenolic content of brown rice (65.9-27.9 mg%) decreased with increasing DM, whereas ratio of ferulic acid composition increased. Chucheong and Ilmi varieties showed biggest reduction of phenolic acid contents by milling. In rice bran, ferulic and p-coumaric acids were 157.8-240.2 and 31.8-90.4 mg%, respectively. Contents of sinapinic, benzoic, and m-hydroxybenzoic acids in rice bran were higher than those of brown and milled rices.

Effect of Oil Addition on Texture of Mungbean Starch Gel (지방첨가가 녹두전분 Gel의 Texture에 미치는 영향 -제1보 : 이화학적 특성 및 기계적 검사에 의한 평가)

  • This study was undertaken for the purpose of studying the physicochemical propery of mungbean and texture of mungbean starch gels. Mungbean starch gel made with different levels of oil were tested to investigate the textural characteristics by mechanical test. The results are summerized as fallows: The content of moisture fat, protein, and ash in Seonwha mungbean were shown to be about 13.19%, 1.02%, 23.57% 3.13% respectively. Those of Seonwha mungbean crude starch were 12.48%, 0.63%, 0.94%, 0.13% respectively. The gain of dry crude starch from peeled mungbean was 22.48%. Water binding capacity of Seonwha mungbean crude starch was 183.1%. The pattern of change in swelling power of Seonwha mungbean crude starch for increasing temperature increased slowly to $70^{\circ}C$, and then increased rapidly. The pattern of change in solubility was similar to that of swelling power. The amylose and amylopectin content were 22.5%, 77.5%. Brabender hot-paste viscosities of mungbean crude starch at 8% and 10% showed the similar amylogram patterns with peak vicosity. By the Rheometer measurement result of 8% 10% mungbean starch gel, Hardness and Fractuability tended to be decreased as the addition level of oil increased. Elasticity, Adhesiveness, Chewiness, L, a, and b value tended to be increased as the addition level of oil increased.

Occurrence and Distribution of Weeds on Upland Crop Fields in Chungbuk Province of Korea (충북지역 주요 밭작물 재배지 발생 잡초 분포 현황)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the weed occurrence and distribution on the upland crop fields (garlic, barley, potato, maize, red pepper, soybean and Chinese cabbage) at 795 sites in Chungbuk province of Korea from Apr. to Oct. in 2014. From the result of this survey, 188 weed species in 42 families were identified and classified to 96 annuals, 40 biennials and 52 perennials. Based on the occurrence ratio, the most dominant weed species in Chungbuk province upland crop fields were higher in the order of Portulaca oleracea (8.14%), Digitaria ciliaris (6.72%), Echinochloa crus-galli (6.55%), Rorippa palustris (6.00%) and Chenopodium album (5.89%). The composition of major occurred weed families, Compositae, Poaceae, Polygonaceae and Cruciferae were 19, 10, 7 and 6%, respectively. In the winter upland crop fields, the dominant weeds were in the order of Capsella bursa-pastoris (12.36%), Alopecurus aequalis (11.05%) and Stellaria alsine (8.42%). In the summer upland crop fields, the dominant weeds were in the order of Portulaca oleracea (8.58%), Digitaria ciliaris (7.18%) and Rorippa palustris (6.28%). Fiftythree exotic weed species were identified. The results of this study could be useful information for estimation of future weed occurrence, weed population dynamics and establishment of weed control methods on the upland crop fields in Chungbuk province of Korea.

  • 질소 및 인 동시제거 공정 중 대표적인 연속회분식반응조(Sequencing Batch reactor: SBR)는 비교적 간편한 운전방법과 저렴한 건설비, 유입수의 부하변동에 큰 영향을 받지 않는 소규모 하수처리에 적합한 공정으로 알려져 있다. 또한 SBR 공정은 기존 활성슬러지 공법에 비해 적은 부지로 많은 양의 폐수를 처리할 수 있고 유입수 수질 및 유량변동에 따라 다양한 운전주기를 변화할 수 있으며, 유기물 제거뿐만 아니라 반응조의 변형에 의해 영양염류의 제거가 가능한 장점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 bench scale SBR 실험을 통하여 질산염의 탈질속도 및 용해성 인의 흡수와 방출속도를 측정하고, SBR 공정의 무산소조건에서 인흡수 및 탈질을 동시에 수행하는 DPB 존재의 가능성을 파악하고자 하였다. 연구결과 무산소조건에서 S-P의 방출과 흡수가 동시에 진행되었으며, 무산소조건에서 S-P의 방출속도는 $0.08{\sim}0.94\;kgS-P/kgMLSS{\cdot}d$, 흡수속도는 $0.012{\sim}0.1\;kgS-P/kgMLSS{\cdot}d$를 나타내었다. 무산소조에서 S-P의 방출 및 흡수가 진행되는 동안 탈질과정도 함께 진행되었으며, 각각의 F/M비에서 탈질속도를 측정한 결과 F/M비 $0.44\;kgCOD/kgMLSS{\cdot}d$에서는 최대 $0.16\;kgNO_3^-N/kgMLSS{\cdot}d$의 탈질속도를 나타내었다. S-P이 방출되지 않는 경우와 방출되는 경우의 비탈질속도를 비교한 결과 S-P이 방출되지 않는 경우의 비탈질속도가 S-P이 방출되는 경우의 비탈질속도보다 높았다. 이렇게 S-P이 방출되는 경우의 비탈질속도가 더 낮은 이유는 무산소 조건에서 탈질과 S-P의 방출 및 흡수가 동시에 일어나는 경우 S-P의 방출에 관여하는 미생물과 탈질에 관여하는 미생물간의 경쟁반응 때문으로 판단된다.응답법의 적용이 가능함을 보였고, 이는 보다 복잡한 관망에서의 천이류 해석이 가능함을 시사한다.$경상도지리지$\lrcorner$(慶尙道地理志)에는 상주가 8곳으로 1/3의 자기 생산을 담당하고 있었다. $\ulcorner$경상도지리지$\lrcorner$(慶尙道地理志)에는 $\ulcorner$세종실록$\lrcorner$(世宗實錄) $\ulcorner$지리지$\lrcorner$(地理志)와 동년대에 동일한 목적으로 찬술되었음을 알 수 있다. $\ulcorner$경상도실록지리지$\lrcorner$(慶尙道實錄地理志)에는 $\ulcorner$세종실록$\lrcorner$(世宗實錄) $\ulcorner$지리지$\lrcorner$(地理志)와의 비교를 해보면 상 중 하품의 통합 9개소가 삭제되어 있고, $\ulcorner$동국여지승람$\lrcorner$(東國與地勝覽) 에서는 자기소와 도기소의 위치가 완전히 삭제되어 있다. 이러한 현상은 첫째, 15세기 중엽 경제적 태평과 함께 백자의 수요 생산이 증가하자 군신의 변별(辨別)과 사치를 이유로 강력하게 규제하여 백자의 확대와 발전에 걸림돌이 되었다. 둘째, 동기(銅器)의 대체품으로 자기를 만들어 충당해야할 강제성 당위성 상실로 인한 자기수요 감소를 초래하였을 것으로 사료된다. 셋째, 경기도 광주에서 백자관요가 운영되었으므로 지방인 상주지역에도 더 이상 백자를 조달받을 필요가 없이, 일반 지방관아와 서민들의 일상용기 생산으로 전락하여 소규모화 되었을 것이라고 사료된다.장 운동기능을 향상시키는 유효성분의 보강 등이 필요하다는 점도 알 수 있었다.더불어 산화물질 해독에 관여하는 다른 유전자

Effects of Roasting Conditions on Quality and Yields of Barley Tea (보리의 볶음조건이 보리차의 품질 및 수율에 미치는 영향)

  • An investigation was carried out to improve the quality and yield of barley tea(water extracts) by modifying the roasting method. The modified methods employed were crushing the barley into 4-10 parts and soaking in water at room temperature for 20 minutes followed by roasting (light brown or dark brown) at $250^{\circ}C$ before boiling with water. The varieties of barley used for this study were Ol-bori(with hulls) and Youngsan-bori(without hulls) and the qualities measured were the physical, chemical and sensory characteristics of roasted barley and its extracts. The results showed that the higher solid yields in barley tea was obtained with an increase in soaking and roasting time. The solid yields increased rapidly with extraction time in boiling water until 30 minutes and then slowed down thereafter. However the intrinsic viscosity of barley tea was reduced by increase in soaking and roasting time. The color of barley tea expressed as Hunter L, a, b values showed that lower L value and higher a and b values were measured for those prepared without soaking and with more extensive roasting. Organoleptic evaluation clearly showed that the sensory quality of barley tea was significantly improved in intensity of odor and taste by crushing, soaking and dark brown roasting.

  • Automobile engine oil is the most important lubricant for operating as the engine is started. Recently, manufacturers of the automotive industry and lubricants are considerably improving the quality of oil with additive to extend change cycle period. Most customers are recommended genuine oil among different types from shop expert. Through this report we suggest another reference point for consumer to pick highly efficient lubricant. This report is investigated oil compounds to compare with 6 different automotive considering actual running condition for 7 months. we conducted experiment from physical and chemical perspectives. In the field, through various experiments oil compounds between mineral oil and synthetic oil are largely distinguished in oxidation, viscosity, fluid and TBN. These are influenced by engine part wear as piston, bearing etc. Comparing various investigation with different oil the performance of synthetic oil is shown better condition in flash point, oxidation stability and also found less in change pollutant iron, Al compounds. Additives of oil show clear difference Ca level in detergent-dispersant both mineral oil and synthetic oil. And Zn in extreme pressure additives and P in Lubricity improver make no difference to both.

The vegetation analysis of Northern region at Jungnang riverside - Between two bridges of Wallgae 1 and Sangdo - (서울시 중랑천 북부구간 하천변 식생과 식물상 분석 - 월계1교에서 상도교 구간을 대상으로 -)

  • After the modern industrial revolution, rivers in cities became covered and disappeared due to the pressure to develop them. Likewise, their function which is to serve as the basis of natural ecology system in the cities began to be damaged. This research demonstrated that there are a total of 268 categories when it comes to the list of plants, including 64 families, 179 genera, 230 species, 36 varieties, and 1 subspecies. When the relative abundance of the plants that were found at the target research site was studied, the secondary survey demonstrated Bromus japonicus 22.97, Artemisia princeps var. orientalis 16.76 and Erigeron annuus 15.69 while third survey demonstrated Digitaria ciliaris 26.78, Ambrosia trifida 16.29 and Aster pilosus 14.31. There were 54 species of naturalized plants that appeared. Analysis demonstrated annual plant 23 classification category (43%), perennial 11 classification category (20%), multi-perennation 17 classification category (31%), woody plant 3 classification category (6%) and others. When the naturalized plants that were found at the target research site were analyzed by the place of origin, North America and EU took up 76%, which accounts for 3/4 of the all the naturalized plants. At the target research site, naturalization degree of 5 pertained to 22 classification category (41%), which was the highest, followed by 19 classification category (35%) with naturalization degree of 3, 8 classification category (15%) with naturalization degree of 2 and 5 classification category (9%) with naturalization degree of 4 in the order mentioned. Flora of Jungnangcheon did not manifest any change compared to 10 years ago. Thus, it is necessary to increase of biodiversity efforts to improve SeoulCity's natural environment and cityscape.
