In this article, we investigate some structural properties of head-internal relative clauses in Korean and their development in Korean-speaking children. In this study, we found head-internal relative clauses in Korean has a more limited domain than head-external relative clauses with respect to positions that can be relativized and clause boundaries that the head can move across: in head-internal relative clauses, only a subject or an object can be relativized and doubly embedded clause constitutes a barrier to the movement of the head. We also found that head-internal relative clauses are easier to understand and produce than head-external relative clauses. In addition, we found that head-internal relative clauses emerge earlier than head-external relative clauses in the acquisition of relative clauses in Korean. The preference of young children (aged 4 and 5) for head-internal relative clauses over head-external relative clauses suggests that children like to use head-internal relative clauses at an early developmental stage when they have difficulty in using head-external relative clauses.

1931년 Burman은 주관절의 제한된 관절 공간, 관절낭 팽창의 어려움, 삽입구 주변에 근접한 신경-혈관 구조물에 의해 주관절 관절경은 불가능하다고 보고하였다. 비록 1935년 자신이 다시 여러 번 시도 끝에 주관절 전방 관절낭을 관절경으로 관찰한 후 주관절도 관절경적 접근이 가능하다는 점을 처음으로 언급하였지만 1980년대 중반까지도 몇몇의 보고를 제외하고 주관절 관절경에 대한 관심은 매우 적었다. 그 후 주관절 관절경은 관절경 기구들의 발달과 소관절을 위한 소구경 관절경의 발전과 함께 하였다. 1985 Andrew와 Carson이 supine position에서 전외측, 전내측 그리고 후외측 삽입구를 이용하여 주관절을 관찰하였으며 1989년 Poehling은 후방 주관절 접근이 용이하도록 prone position으로 관절경을 시행하였고 최근 새로운 접근 방법 및 확대된 적응증에 대한 보고가 점점 늘어나고 있다. 주관절 관절경의 합병증은 적지만 주관절 주변의 해부학적 구조물에 대한 정확한 이해를 가지고 있어야 심각한 합병증을 발생을 예방할 수 있다.

Purpose: Understanding elbow biomechanics is necessary to understand the pathophysiologic mechanism of elbow injury and to provide a scientific basis for clinical practice. This article provides a summary of key concepts that are relevant to understanding common elbow injuries and their management. Materials and Methods: The biomechanics of the elbow joint can be divided into kinematics, stability and force transmission through the elbow joint. Active and passive stabilizers include bony articular geometry; soft tissues provide joint stability, compression force and motion. Results and Conclusion: Knowledge of elbow biomechanics will help (i) advance surgical procedures and trauma management, (ii) develop new elbow prostheses and (iii) stimulate future research.

본 논문에서는 조음 효과에 대처할 수 있는 새로운 음성인식 단위로 반음절, 반음절 +반음절 단위 HMM을 제안하여 연속 숫자 음성인식을 하였다. 반음절 단위는 무음과 안정 구간으로, 반음절+반음절 단위는 안정, 천이, 안정구간으로 구성되어 있고, 음성인식 단위 분 할시 비교적 스펙트럼의 변화가 안정한 모음구간에서 분할하므로 분할 위치가 약간 변하여 도 인식성능에는 큰 영향을 주지 않게 된다. 또한, 제안된 반음절, 반음절+반음절 인식단위 는 그 패턴 안에 다음 숫자열의 정보를 포함하고 있기 때문에 모든 HMM 패턴들과 비교하 는 것이 아니라, 다음 숫자열의 정보를 포함한 HMM 패턴들과 비교한다. 인식실험결과 제 안된 방법이 효율적임을 확인하였다.

The longer the input sentences, the worse the syntactic parsing results, Therefore, a long sentence is first divided into several clauses and syntactic analysis for each clause is performed. Finally, all the analysis results art merged into one, In the merging process, it is difficult to determine the dependency among clauses, To handle such syntactic ambiguity among clauses, this paper proposes an SVM-based clause-dependency determination method. We extract various features from clauses, and analyze the effect of each feature on the performance. We also compare the performance of our proposed method with those of previous methods.

The biomechanics study of the hip is aims to understand and explore the dynamic principles of weight transfer through the hip joint. This basic science knowledge can be applied in a variety of areas, including degenerative joint diseases and hip replacement arthroplasty. In particular, understanding of the biomechanics of the hip has led to the development of materials, design and fixation of implants, and it can be applied in various areas, such as the selection of surgical methods and the location of the implant. Moreover, it is essential to have good knowledge of the biomechanics of the hip to achieve better clinical results for patients. Therefore, this paper introduces the basic knowledge and biomechanical characteristics of a normal hip and hip replacement arthroplasty, which are needed to approach the biomechanics of the hip.

This paper discusses the types and functions of English subordinate clauses, whether English subordinate clauses (SC) are headed by a Complementizer (CP) or headed by a lexical (but not functional) Preposition (PP). Furthermore, unlike the standard classification, the current paper provides a finer-grained analysis and classification of English SCs. The traditional or prescriptive view on the functions of English SCs includes Noun SC such as complement clauses, Adjectival SC including relative clauses, and Adverbial SCs that cover a garden variety of subordinators. Added to the existing classification of subordination in English is what I notate as Verbless subordinate clause (V-less SC). Of these 4 different types of subordinate clauses with different functions, properties, and distributions, Subjectless Verbless subordinate clause is further divided into Smallest small clause (SSC) which accounts for English subordination mechanism more uniformly and consistently with respect to their clausal architecture, especially when the subordinate clause is neither PP nor CP.

Developmental dysplasia of the hip broadly includes inadequate development of the hip joint involving the acetabulum or proximal femur, or both. Although ultrasonographic studies in neonates have greatly lowered the frequency of neglected or operatively treated cases, its sensitivity is less than desired. Hip dysplasia without subluxation is commonly diagnosed incidentally and strongly related to degenerative arthritis in females after the 4th decade. Hip dysplasia with subluxation shows symptoms through various periods, depending on its severity, especially for women with onset during pregnancy. A complete physical examination and early treatment for neonates are extremely important for obtaining satisfactory outcomes. To avoid underdiagnosis and to serve appropriate treatment on time, the authors recommend examining any suspicious hips in infants under two years of age. The study will discuss the diagnosis and primary treatment of developmental dysplasia of the hip.

Total elbow arthroplasty is a relatively rare procedure compared with total knee or total hip arthroplasty. Total elbow arthroplasty for bony ankylosis is even rarer, and the results are often unsatisfactory. We report a patient who gained good mobility of the elbow after total elbow arthroplasty for the treatment of fractured arthrodesis site with which the patient had lived with for 12 years.
