A Study on Industrial Media for Production of Lactic acid in Batch and Continuous Fermentations (회분식 및 연속배양에 있어서 고농도 젖산의 생산을 위한 공업용 배지연구)

  • We have investigated industrial media for lactic acid fermentation to reduce the cost of nitrogen sources. Corn steep liquor (CSL) was successfully used at 5% (v/v) in batch fermentations. Use of soluble CSL improved the productivity about 20% with an advantage of clearer fermentation broth. Yeast extract-complemented CSL improved the productivity about 20% with an advantage of clearer fermentation broth. Yeast extract-complemented CSL media further increased the increased the productivity. It was found that 3.1 g/L yeast extract and 5% CSL could be an effective substitute for 15 g/L yeast extract in 10% glucose medium. Brewing yeast was also used as a sole nitrogen source equivalent to 5% CSL. A continuous culture coupled with cell-recycle by microfiltration at the dilution rate of 0.05-0.065 h-1 led to the highest lactic acid productivity. Lactic acid was recovered by electrodialysis from the cell free broth. Depleted cell free broth supplemented with 5-10 g/L of yeast extract performed reasonably in batch and continuous cultures. Reuse of the fermentation broth may reduce the cost of raw materials as well as minimize the fermentation wastes.

지료조성에 따른 종이의 물성 변화 - Beater Loading의 효과 -

  • 최근, 제지산업에 있어서 종이의 경량화 연구는 원료 절감, 에너지 절감 등의 주 효과와 운송비 절감을 비롯한 부차적인 효과가 크기 때문에 앞으로도 활발히 추진 될 것으로 전망 된다. 그러나 이러한 경량화는 종이의 광학적 특성인 불투명도와 물리적 특성인 강도 저하 를 필연적으로 가져오게 한다. 특히 인쇄 및 필기용지의 경우 종이의 불투명도 저하는 인쇄 시 인쇄화상 뒤비침 현상으로 인하여 치명적인 악 영향을 초래한다. 종이의 불투명도를 개선하기 위하여 사용되는 가장 보편적인 방법은 충전제를 가능한 범 위내에서 많이 첨가시키는 것이다. 그러나 이 방법은 불투명도는 향상이 가능하나 미세분의 다량 발생에 의한 초지공정의 보류 및 폐수 문제, 종이의 강도 저하 문제를 야기 시킨다. 따라서 본 연구는 종이의 경량화에 수반되는 불투명도, 강도 문제의 지료 영향 인자인 섬유, 종이구조 및 충전제의 특성 등을 검토하여 보다 효율적인 지료조성 대책을 제시하고 충전제 첨가법을 개선하여 보류율을 향상시키고, 종이의 강도 감소율을 최소화하면서 불투 명도를 향상시킬 수 있는 효율적인 방법을 제시하기 위하여 수행 되었다. 구체적인 방법으로서는 펄프 및 충전물의 종류에 따른 종이의 물성과 불투명도의 변화를 관찰하였으며 또한 충전물의 충전시, 충전물의 보류를 향상시키면서 섬유간의 결합 방해를 최소화 시켜 종이의 본래 강도를 유지시키는 Fiber Loading의 새로운 방법인 Beater L Loading법을 시도하였다. 본 연구의 결과 수종간의 차이는 있었지만 활엽수 펄프가 칩엽수 펄프에 비해 불투명도 및 백색도 등의 광학적 성질이 우수한 것으로 나타나 펄프 종류및 수종의 적절한 선택에 의 하여 종이의 광학적 성질을 어느 정도 높일 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 충전물을 Beater Loading에 의해 첨가하였을 경우가 일반적인 Loading보다 보류 율이 좋았고 종이의 불투명도와 강도도 높게 나타났었다. 이러한 실험결과로 보아 일반적인 Loading 방법보다 Beater Loading법이 강도의 손실없이 불투명도를 높일 수 있는 효과적인 수단이 될 것으로 생각된다.

Evaluation of Lighting Energy Saving Rate in a Small Office Space (소규모 사무공간의 조명에너지 절감율 평가에 관한 연구)

  • The objective of this study is to evaluate the lighting dimming rates with various parameters of the building skin in a small office. We compared to simulated workplane illuminance and measured workplane illuminance for the base model. After that, the five veriables(the presence of vertical wall in double skin facade, the presence of windowsill, window to wall ratio(WWR), window visible transmittance, the width of double skin facade) were applied to base model, and we analyzed the simulated lighting energy saving rates. The results are listed as below. The simulated workplane illuminance results are similar to the measurement. Simulated illuminance was smaller than measured illuminance by 16.5%(60 lx). In accordance with applicable building skin parameters, lighting energy saving rate results are summarized as follows. Lighting energy saving rate of case1(windowsill height 0.7m) is higher than that of base case(windowsill and vertical wall) by 7.3% and the lighting energy saving rate of case2(no vertical wall) is higher than that of base case by 7.6% and the lighting energy saving rate of case3(no windowsill and vertical wall) is higher than that of base case by 12.4%. The lighting energy saving rate is increased by 2.3%, when window visible transmittance is increased from 70% to 86%. The lighting energy saving rate is increased by 4.6%, when we changed the WWR 70% to 90%. lighting energy savings rate is increased by 6.5%, when the width of double skin facade is reduced from 1m to 0.3m.

  • In this study, when applying LED light sources within a single-span glass greenhouse for growing crops, the illumination simulation was performed on the ceiling and side of the glass greenhouse to determine the selective placement and effective light transmission of Si series solar cells and dye-sensitive solar cells (DSSC) for supplying LED power source. In addition, energy saving effects of glass greenhouses were analyzed for optimum lighting control when both daylight and LED light sources are considered in glass greenhouses.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of different surfactants on the fertilizer reduction and increase of the mineral nutrients uptake of lettuce (Latuca sativa L. 'Hanbatchungchima') in deep flow technique culture. The measured items from lettuce leaves expanded fully were growth, photosynthetic and transpiration rate, and mineral nutrient content K, Ca and Mg, respectively. The highest growth were observed at $0.3mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ polyvinyl alcohol (PV4-95) treatment, including lettuce grown in the half strength of nutrient solution. The highest photosynthetic rate, transpiration rate and mineral nutrient content were observed at $0.3mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ calcium lignosulfate (CLS) treatment. Therefore, high-quality leaf lettuce production could be achieved by apply proper surfactants PVA-95 and CLS, which can cut down the total amount of fertilizer and increase uptake of mineral nutrients.

  • The objective of this study is to analyze the energy saving rate by retrofitting multi air conditioner from conventional type to high efficient type using Energyplus 4.0 which was developed for simulating a building energy by D.O.E. Generally, Multi air conditioner system was installed for both the cooling and the heating in a building. However, it was difficult to estimate the energy saving rate in the case of retrofitting multi air conditioner from conventional type to high efficient type. In the present study, annual energy consumptions of them were evaluated for same building and climate condition.

  • Recently, the government has been working feverously to save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emission by enacting Basic Act on Low Carbon Green Growth at the national level. Improving the insulation performance of building exterior and insulator can reduce the energy in the building sector. This study is about developing light-weight foamed concrete insulation panel that can be applied to buildings to save energy and to find the optimal condition for the development of insulation materials that can save energy by enhancing its physical, kinetic and thermal characteristics. Various experimental factors and conditions were considered in the study such as foam agent types (AES=Alcohol Ethoxy Sulfate, AOS=Alpha-Olefin Sulfonate, VS=Vegetable Soap, FP=Fe-Protein), foam agent dilution concentration (1, 3, 5%), and foam percentage (30, 50, 70%). Experiment results indicated that the surface tension of aqueous solution including foam agent, was lower when AOS was used over other foam agents. FP produced relatively stable foams in 3% or more, which produced unstable foams containing high water content and low surface tension when diluted at low concentration. Depending on foam agent types, compressive strength and thermal conductivity were similar at low density range but showed some differences at high concentration range. In addition, when concentrations of foam agent and foaming ratio increased, pore size increased and open pores are formed. In all types of foam agent, thermal conductivity were excellent, satisfying KS standards. The most outstanding performance for insulation panel was obtained when FP 3% was used.

  • There are a number of policies that have been established to reduce greenhouse gases emissions and reduce energy consumption. These polices, however, only reflect the building energy consumption saving rate without considering building energy consumption characteristic. If building that already use less energy apply the same saving rate to reduce energy consumption, it is less effective. Therefore, this study classified building energy consumption characteristics and investigated approaches to adopt individual reduction rates according to energy consumption. Analysis results showed that there are differences in energy consumption depending on building use, and therefore, we classified buildings by use. We also proposed a formula to set a reduction goal for rate of energy consumption according to energy consumption. We verified our approach in a top-end neighborhood facility in Seoul. The energy consumption savings goal of this study can be applied individually, but determining whether a building can reduce energy consumption towards a saving goal requires a closer look at each building.

  • Travel time reduction is a benefit in economic analysis. Freight transportation time reduction benefits influence the logistics industry. The objectives of this paper are to estimate the Value of Time (VOT) for transportation time reduction with logit methodology. The data of Gyeonggi-do's domestic road freight transport in 2007 are used. VOT was estimated for five commodities. An average VOT of 19,946 won/vehicle-hr was calculated; transport of electronic parts had the highest VOT. This study will help provide direction for improving Korea's road infrastructure for freight.

비용과 최소요구충족율을 고려한 수리가능제품의 최적여유부품수준의 결정기법

  • 본 논문에서는 고가의 수리가능제품의 최적여유재고 수준을 결정하는 효율적인 방법을 제안한다. 고려하는 시스템은 각 기지창과 중앙창에서 한정된 수리능력을 가지며 중앙창에서 수리가 끝난 후 수리된 제품은 원래의 기지창으로 되돌아가서 재고에 포함되는 형태이다. 제안한 방법은 최소비용의 재고수준을 결정하는 방법 및 최소요구충족율을 가장 적은 비용으로 만족시키는 여유재고수준을 결정하는 최적해법이다. 제안한 방법을 실제시스템에 적용하면 최소의 비용으로 장비나 무기를 원하는 수준으로 가동시킬 수 있으므로 국방비의 효율적인 사용 및 절감에 도움이 될 것이다.
