Implementation and Evaluation of 2D Ray-Tracing Technique for Indoor Propagation Characteristics Modeling (실내 전파특성 모델링을 위한 2차원 광선추적법 구현 및 평가)

  • In this paper, we implemented a ray-tracing simulator with a ray-launching technique and generated the propagation path of each ray in an multiple-wall indoor environment. In this simulator, we adopted two dimension ray-tracing techniques considering the reflection and penetration were dominant propagation factor in the indoor channel. From the result, we verified that this ray-tracing simulator shows the similar pattern and delay distribution with the experiment results of the previous research.

  • Transmissivity and the signal loss in soil are computed. An electric field expression for the inhomogeneous complex media modelled by two layers is shown as an integral form. Volume scattering occurs in inhomogeneous media, and iterative Born approximation is used to analyze this scattering effect. The degree of randomness is controlled by specifying the variance and correlation length. Expression for the transmissivity and the signal loss is presented as the parameter of soil moisture contents, soil particle radius, temperature and frequency. The analysis shows that big deviation in signal loss depends on the temperature variation remarkably and the physical reason of unusual level is explained.

  • 셀룰러 방식의 이동통신 시스템에서 전파의 유효신호 도달범위를 예측하기 위해서는 전파전파 모델을 이용한 예측기법이 주로 사용된다. 그러나, 전파과정에서 주변 지형지물에 의해 발생하는 전파손실은 매우 복잡한 비선형적인 특성을 가지며 수식으로는 정확한 표현이 불가능하다. 본 논문에서는 신경회로망의 함수 근사화 능력을 이용하여 전파손실 예측모델을 생성하는 방법을 제안한다. 즉, 전파손실을 송수신 안테나간의 거리, 송신안테나의 특성, 장애물 투과영향, 회절특성, 도로, 수면에 의한 영향 등과 같은 전파환경 변수들의 함수로 가정하고, 신경회로망 학습을 통하여 함수를 근사화한다. 전파환경 변수들이 신경회로망 입력으로 사용되기 위해서는 3차원 지형도와 벡터지도를 이용하여 전파의 반사, 회절, 산란 등의 물리적인 특성이 고려된 특징 추출을 통해 정량적인 수치들을 계산한다. 이와 같이 얻어진 훈련데이타를 이용한 신경회로망 학습을 통해 전파손실 모델을 완성한다. 이 모델을 이용하여 서울 도심 지역의 실제 서비스 환경에 대한 타 모델과의 비교실험결과를 통해 제안하는 모델의 우수성을 보인다.Abstract In cellular mobile communication systems, wave propagation models are used in most cases to predict cell coverage. The amount of propagation loss induced by the obstacles in the propagation path, however, is a highly non-linear function, which cannot be easily represented mathematically. In this paper, we introduce the method of producing propagation loss prediction models by function approximation using neural networks. In this method, we assume the propagation loss is a function of the relevant parameters such as the distance from the base station antenna, the specification of the transmitter antenna, obstacle profile, diffraction effect, road, and water effect. The values of these parameters are produced from the field measurement data, 3D digital terrain maps, and vector maps as its inputs by a feature extraction process, which takes into account the physical characteristics of electromagnetic waves such as reflection, diffraction and scattering. The values produced are used as the input to the neural network, which are then trained to become the propagation loss prediction model. In the experimental study, we obtain a considerable amount of improvement over COST-231 model in the prediction accuracy using this model.

  • Tokamak 플라즈마는 ICRF 영역에서 외곽 플라즈마 부근에 CUT-OFF밀도가 있으며, 이보다 낮은 밀도에서는 ICRF 전파가 투과하지 못하는 전파 장벽이 존재하게 된다. 이때 전달되는 효율은 안테나 부하저항으로 알 수 있으며, 이는 전파장벽이 낮을수록 큰 값을 갖는다. 따라서, 전파장벽은 에너지 전달 효율을 급격히 떨어뜨리므로 전파 장벽의 특성을 분석하고 이를 낮추는게 매우 중요하다. CUT-OFF 밀도는 자기장, k_par, 구동주파수, 플라즈마 밀도에 의존하게 되고, 측정한 밀도 분포를 통해 전파장벽의 구간을 안다면,이를 이용하여 안테나의 부하저항과의 의존성을 알 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 외곽 플라즈마 밀도 분포를 얻기 위해 토카막의 언저리 영역에서 플라즈마에 간섭없이 $10^{18}{\sim}10^{19}m^{-3}$의 플라즈마 밀도를 진단할 수 있는 9GHz~30GHz의 microwave를 사용하는 반사계를 설계하였으며,플라즈마 변수와 ICRF 운전 변수에 따른 부하저항의 계산결과와 반사계 시스템 설계에 대한 내용이 발표될 것이다.

  • It has been well known that weak axial magnetic field on the process plasma enhances plasma density. As the magnetic field helps a specific polarized EM wave mode to penetrate into the plasma, the energy transfer to the plasma enhances and the ion density increases. We have analyzed systematic change of the dispersion relation caused by the cyclotron resonance condition. This resonance occurs at near 5 gauss to provide minimum penetration depth, as known before. RF penetration depth increases abruptly beyond the magnetic field of 5 gauss, and this phenomena lessen as the collision frequency increases.

  • We propose an electrically controllable terahertz wave modulator based on a metamaterial and vanadium dioxide ($VO_2$) thin film. A square loop shape is designed to play the roles of both a resonating metamaterial and a heater to electrically control the conductivity of $VO_2$. The transmission characteristics of the modulator were controlled by voltage. The transmission coefficient of the modulator was stably changed from 0.27 to 0.80 at 470 GHz according to the conductivity values of $VO_2$.

  • In this paper, acceleration techniques for a three dimensional ray tracing method are presented. Ray tracing methods are widely adopted to obtain radio propagation channel models, however calculation times increase with the number of scatters such as buildings, hills and mountains. Various techniques are proposed in combination of ray tube concept.

  • Field penetration and scattering characteristics of two dimensional open cylindrical cavity is studied. Exact analysis for this sort of structure is not achieved even if there are unusual phenomena of field penetration and scattering with cavity and aperture size. In this paper, we calculate a wide range of open cavity characteristics by using of FMM method, which is extended method of MOM. We find external mode of open cylindrical cavity corresponding to internal mode of closed cavity. The characteristics of resonance and scattering of this region is different compare with non resonant area. The result of study will apply to the EM wave shielding and RCS control.

A Study of Seismic Wave Propagation for Tunnel Exploration (터널 탐사를 위한 탄성파 전파 양상에 관한 연구)

  • The activity of the seismic wave propagation around the cavity is investigated for the exact inversion of the crosshole tomography data, in order to understand the possibility of the existence inside the underground cavity. It is found that the adequate frequency range for the tunnel investigation is about 2 kHz to 5 kHz, and the grid space should be set up to 1/10 of the wavelength. The propagation of the seismic wave near the cavity may go through or detour the cavity according to the seismic velocity inside the cavity. The detouring wave propagates with the seismic velocity of mother rock in spite of the velocity of inside of the cavity. The smaller the velocity difference is between the mother rock and cavity, the more frequent penetration of the seismic wave through the cavity appears.
