The survey was conducted for around 7 days from September 23rd to 30th, 2013, and 250 effective copies of questionnaire were used for the final analysis. The research outcomes show no significant deviation in terms of demographical features such as gender, marital status, age range, average monthly income and housing type; but there was a meaningful deviation in university graduation. Also, it is shown that taste, freshness, and convenience of a store were considered in their purchase of traditional rice cake as a meal substitute. Therefore, it is expected that development of various products, available for meal substitutes, would generalize and vitalize the consumption of traditional rice cake.

  • Due to an increasing amount of high rise apartment complexes and rapid city development, traditional houses and traditional housing districts have disappeared rapidly. Recognizing importance of traditional housing value, City of Seoul initiated public supports for traditional house preservation and revitalization of traditional housing district, especially Bukchon area. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of public support for Bukchon area by investigating land value changes. Land value changes were compared among the three periods, 1) before the municipal support initiated ($1997{\sim}1999$), 2) initial period of governmental policy and support ($2000{\sim}2003$), 3) development period in which policy has activated and governmental preservation and revitalization efforts have exercised ($2004{\sim}2007$). For the comparison of land value changes, houses in other districts in City of Seoul have been selected. As a result, land value has been changed along with land value changes in other areas in Seoul. Land values of Bukchon area appeared in the middle range in Seoul area. However, the increasing rate of land value of traditional houses and traditional housing district are much higher than that of other areas. Except for economical support and legislation for preservation and revitalization of traditional housing district, there is few factors explaining the sudden increase of land values. The result indicated the positive impacts of municipal committment and policies on development and preservation projects and suggested that governmental policy and support should be practiced continuously for gradual development for the traditional housing district.

  • Trade areas of the commercial centers in Chongiu City are rapidly changing as the urban spacial structure is transformed, consumer behaviors are changed and large shopping stores are located in the area. The City's CBD has been in the Sung-an-gil district. The trade areas of the CBD have expanded along the major roads in the directions of north, south and west from the Sang-dang park. Especially, two newly formed secondary commercial centers are noticeable: one is the center around the express bus terminal in Gagyong-dong, and the other is formed in the Yongam, Bunpyong and Sannam district. As such changes are intensified, small retailers in the traditional markets that are mainly concentrated in the Yukgerri market place have faced hardship in business and management. The commercial hardship has been hastened up by openings of large discount stores and expanding tendency of internet shopping businesses. Acknowledging the changes in the business environment of traditional markets, this paper attempts to suggest policies to gentrificate the declining market areas in the CBD. The suggested polices are differentiated according to the types of traditional markets, stores. and merchants. And also suggestion is provided regarding amendments of the City's codes.

The latifundio of Spain's Middle Age combined with the environment of the New World to be regenerated in the name of hacienda which bad became tightly roared in the countryside landscape of New Spain by fin-de-colonial period of 1820s. The haciendas were distributed mainly over the central part of the present-dey Mexico, and the presence of water and towns determined the specific location of the large landed estates. Depending on the activities performed, the hacienda can be divided into several types such as grain hacienda, livestock hacienda, mining hacienda, henequen hacienda, and so forth. Consisting of landlords, estate managers and waged labor called peons, the hacienda as a semi-autarkic settlement played various roles as the home of church, the agrarian center and the hearth of cultural diffusion, as well as dwelling. • This article intends to shed a light on the British architect Arthur S. Dixon (1856-1929). He is largely regarded as a pioneer of the English Art and Craft Movement, yet his works are not widely known nor carefully studied. In search of Dixon's architectural characteristics, this paper examined three notable buildings that he designed at the turn of the nineteenth century; Birmingham Guildhall, St. Andrews church and St. Basil's Church. These buildings were erected relatively early in his career as an architect, although he never fully immersed into the profession due to his commitment in family business management. His architectural design shows unique qualities of Art and Craft movement in terms of use of material, spatial arrangement, techniques, and craftsmanship while employing Romanesque as most relevant historic style for ecclesiastical purposes.
