In a completely edentulous patient who cannot have implant-retained overdentures due to medical history and economic circumstances, a suction-effective complete denture utilizing the closed-mouth impression technique is being used to secure high retention. In this case, both a conventional complete denture using the open-mouth impression technique and a suction-effective complete denture using the closed-mouth impression technique were fabricated for a single completely edentulous patient. The results demonstrated that both methods provided excellent outcomes in terms of function, esthetics, and patient satisfaction. Conventional complete dentures increase the area of denture-bearing pressure to ensure retention and stability, whereas suction-effective complete dentures achieve retention by sealing the entire border of the denture. Since there are characteristic differences in the clinical and laboratory procedures due to differences in the concept of denture fabrication, this was compared through this case report.

Even though implant overdentures are preferentially recommended to mandibular edentulous patients, many patients may select conventional complete dentures due to cost and general condition. Proper retention and stability of conventional complete dentures in patients with severe alveolar bone resorption is difficult to achieve. To overcome the limitations, mandibular suction dentures with the closed mouth impression technique have been used. However, the previous technique requires the Frame cut back tray, the Centric tray, and the Gnathometer M. This article introduces a technique for fabricating a mandibular suction denture with common dental materials.

CAD/CAM technology has already been used in most areas of prosthetics. The range of CAD/CAM application in denture fabricating process has been gradually increasing since the CAD/CAM technology was introduced for the fabrication of complete dentures in 1994. This paper describes a technique that combines conventional and CAD/CAM technology for the fabrication of complete dentures: the master casts from a conventional impression techniques were scanned first, and the wax denture was fabricated using Amann Girrbach's Ceramill full denture system (fds). The purpose of this paper is to introduce the case in which making an esthetically and functionally satisfied denture in shorter time is possible with CAD/CAM technology.

As the number of elderly population increases, the proportion of edentulous patients is increasing, and the demand for traditional dentures will also increase. Arranging the artificial teeth according to the relationship and shape of the upper and lower alveolar ridge is an important factor increasing the stability of the denture. This case is a 79 year old female patient who wishes to make denture covered by national health insurance for psychological and economical reasons. With the alveolar bone severely atrophic, the dental CAD software was used for accurate diagnosis and the posterior teeth were arranged in a cross bite according to the interalveolar crest line angle by the program. After completion, the denture showed adequate stability and maintenance in periodic examinations and treatment, and the patient also expressed high satisfaction.

There are various approaches to treatment for patients with fully edentulous jaw. In maxilla, it is easy to obtain sufficient stability, support, and retention with the traditional full denture method. In mandible, however, there are difficulties caused by anatomical limitations. In this case, treatment with implants can be considered. If it is difficult to place implants in posterior area, a fixed complete denture can be considered, using 4 - 5 implants anterior to mental foramen. This approach has changed in many ways, such as surgical methods and materials used, over the years. This case report compares two approaches and their changes over time, especially in the cases of mandibular fixed prostheses using implants, paired with maxillary complete denture.

In the case of edentulous patients, the total amount of occlusal force is dispersed by the keratinized gingiva during mastication, in result, causing lower masticatory and chewing efficiency. In particular, the mandibular area has more side effects such as pain than the maxilla has. It gets worse when the patient has more absorption of alveolar bone, but the implant treatment is often interrupted due to the existence of the inferior alveolar nerve. In this case, a patient treated with the all-on-4 method by placing the implant in the anterior part of mandible and with the conventional complete denture for the maxilla has maintained without complications and was satisfied with the restoration both functionally and esthetically.

Anatomical changes in the facial and alveolar bones occur after multiple teeth are extracted. In the maxilla, the alveolar bone is absorbed in the direction and inclination of the root, and the remaining alveolar bone becomes shorter, reducing the diameter of the arch. In addition, as the nasolabial angle increases, the support of the lips and the aesthetics of the face are lost. This case reports a functional and aesthetically satisfactory results of full mouth rehabilitation with the implant-supported fixed prosthesis using a zirconia framework.
