  • 최근 자동차 산업의 연구개발의 핵심화두는 효율성 제고 및 NVH(Noise, Vibration, Harshness) 개선에 있다. 특히나 많은 부품들의 개발에 있어서 운전자의 운전 편의성을 높이는 성능적인 지표 외에도 운전자가 느끼는 소음, 이상 진동에 대한 감성성능에 대한 소비자의요구도 높아지고 있다. 이러한 경향에 맞추어 자동차 각 부분의 소음저감, 효율향상을 고려한 설계에 대한 연구가 활발해지고 있다. 많은 자동차 부품들에 모터가 사용되고 있으며, 특히 차량용 쿨링팬의 경우 모터를 사용하여 차량 운행 시 발행하는 (배터리의 온도를) 적절한 수준으로 유지시켜주거나 친환경 자동자차 배터리를 쿨링 하는 역할을 한다. 대다수의 쿨링팬 모터로 BLDC모터가 많이 사용되며 이는 전통적인 제어 방법인 구형파제어를 사용하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 저전압 배터리의 전원을 사용하여 BLDC 쿨링팬을 안정적으로 구동할 수 있는 제어기를 개발하였고, 소음저감 및 높은 효율을 위하여 정현파로 제어하는 기법을 적용하였다. 개발된 시작품의 성능 시험을 통해 그 결과를 검증하였다.

Effect of cooling patches on performance of photovoltaic-thermoelectric hybrid energy devices (쿨링패치 부착에 따른 태양광-열전 융합소자의 성능 연구)

  • In this study, we examine the availability of a cooling patch to enhance the output power of a hybrid energy device (HED) comprising a photovoltaic cell (PVC) and a thermoelectric generator (TEG). The cooling patch attached on the back of the TEG drops the temperature of the PVC via the TEG and makes a large thermal gradient across the TEG under irradiances in a range of 200 to 1000 W/m2. The cooling patch is more effective for the output power of the HED as the irradiance increases, and it enhances the maximum output power of the HED to 42.1 mW at an irradiance of 1000 W/m2. The increment in the maximum output power reaches 27% owing to the attachment of the cooling patch that does not consume any power.

  • 기존의 스타일러는 옷 건조, 살균 기능을 가지고 있으나, 비용이 비싸며 공간을 차지하는 단점을 가지고 있다. 알림 기능을 가지는 스마트 옷장은 옷장위에 설치된 라즈베리파이 디스플레이에 간단한 날씨정보를 출력하여 그 날의 날씨정보를 시간소비 없이 간편하게 습득할 수 있으며, 한줄 뉴스를 통하여 그 날의 소식을 간편하게 알 수 있다. 또한 옷장 내부에 설치된 아두이노가 온습도 센서와 미세먼지 센서를 통제하여 옷장 내부의 온도, 습도, 미세먼지 농도를 디스플레이를 통해 알 수 있으며, 습도가 높거나, 미세먼지 농도가 높을 경우에 옷장 내부에 부착된 쿨링팬이 자동으로 작동하여 옷장 내부를 환기시킴으로써 습도를 낮추고 먼지, 냄새 등을 제거해주는 효과가 있다. 그리고 습도나 미세먼지 수치가 낮아지면 자동으로 쿨링팬의 작동은 멈춰진다. 또한 미세먼지, 온습도 값에 따라 3색 LED가 색이 변화한다. 이런 스마트옷장으로 바쁜 현대 사회에서 사용자들의 시간을 절약해주고 옷의 관리해줌으로써 편리함을 제공한다.

  • Fluorescent images using near-infrared light have no worry about radioactivity, and images can be checked in real time during surgery. Therefore experiments using fluorescent images for monitoring lymph node biopsy are actively under way. Fluorescent imaging equipment uses high heat-generating components such as LED and camera, thus uses water-cooling system as a stable heating suppression means. However in the fluorescent image equipment, the water cooling system takes a large volume which is a disadvantage in terms of miniaturization of the equipment. Even if the air cooling system is used for miniaturizing the equipment, heat generation is a problem. In this paper, we have experimented with the air cooling method using PWM control for the miniaturization of the equipment, and confirmed the constant quality of the fluorescent image and the suppression of the heat generation without any problems even when the equipment is used for a long time.

  • In this study, we have developed a composite pressure vessel that is compact and can store refrigerant at high pressure to increase the refrigerant volume. The composite pressure vessel is made of aluminum-based duralumin, which has high rigidity and excellent elongation in the inner liner, considering the characteristics of products in the aerospace and defense industry, where the safety of the applied product is considered as a priority. High strength carbon fiber was applied to the outside. In order to evaluate the performance of the developed product, burst test and cycling test were carried out. In burst test, an excellent safety margin equivalent to 2.7 times the operating pressure was obtained. In cycling test, a stable failure mode in which 'pre-burst leak' occurs is proved and the soundness of the product is proved.

Analyzing Thermal Variations on a Multi-core Processor (멀티코아 프로세서의 온도변화 분석)

  • This paper studies thermal characteristics of a mix of CPU-intensive and memory-intensive application workloads on a multi-core processor. Especially, we focus on thermal variations during program execution because thermal variations are more critical than average temperatures and their ranges for thermal management. New metrics are proposed to quantify such thermal variations for a workload. We study the thermal variations using SPEC CPU2006 benchmarks with varying cooling conditions and frequencies on an Intel Core 2 Duo processor. The results show that applications have distinct thermal variations characteristics. Such variations are affected by cooling conditions,operating frequencies and multiprogramming workload. Also, there are distinct spatial thermal variations between cores. Our new metrics and their results from this study provide useful insight for future research on multi-core thermal management.

Temperature Analysis of Electrostatic Chuck for Cryogenic Etch Equipment (극저온 식각장비용 정전척 쿨링 패스 온도 분포 해석)

  • As the size of semiconductor devices decreases, the etching pattern becomes very narrow and a deep high aspect ratio process becomes important. The cryogenic etching process enables high aspect ratio etching by suppressing the chemical reaction of reactive ions on the sidewall while maintaining the process temperature of -100℃. ESC is an important part for temperature control in cryogenic etching equipment. Through the cooling path inside the ESC, liquid nitrogen is used as cooling water to create a cryogenic environment. And since the ESC directly contacts the wafer, it affects the temperature uniformity of the wafer. The temperature uniformity of the wafer is closely related to the yield. In this study, the cooling path was designed and analyzed so that the wafer could have a uniform temperature distribution. The optimal cooling path conditions were obtained through the analysis of the shape of the cooling path and the change in the speed of the coolant. Through this study, by designing ESC with optimal temperature uniformity, it can be expected to maximize wafer yield in mass production and further contribute to miniaturization and high performance of semiconductor devices.

A Heat Shock Simulation System for Testing Performance of EWP (EWP 성능 검사를 위한 열 충격 모사시스템)

  • Global auto parts companies are making efforts to develop EWP(: Electric Water Pump) which is one of the core parts of environment friendly car. In eco-friendly automobiles, an independent cooling system is used rather than a cooling system that is linked to an internal combustion engine. Therefore, the research and development of the water pump operating separately from the engine and the related production system are being actively carried out. In order to overcome the shortcoming of EWP of PPS material suitable for injection system, G company which is a global parts company that researches and develops EWP around SUS and is in the process of developing robot-based production equipment for mass production. In this paper, a heat shock simulation system is designed and implemented that works with the robot-based production system to test the performance of the produced EWP. By using this system, it is possible to test the EWP in an virtual environment similar to the actual environment, thereby reducing the defect rate of the product. At the same time, all the data produced during the entire process for testing can be stored, which can be utilized in the future development of CPS(: Cyber Physical System) of EWP system based on big data.
