A Study on the E-book Usage Behavior of University Library by University Students: Focusing on the Impact of COVID-19 (Z세대 대학생들의 대학도서관의 전자책 이용 행태에 관한 연구 - 코로나19의 영향을 중심으로 -)

  • This study attempted to confirm the reading behavior of Generation Z college students in Korea, including their perception of e-book use, and to find out the changes caused by COVID-19. To this end, university students across the country were surveyed for e-book recognition and use, e-book usage status, e-book preference recognition, and comparison items of university libraries and e-book use before and after COVID-19. As a result of the analysis, university libraries had a significant impact on the use of e-books by Generation Z college students, and COVID-19 partially affected reading behavior, such as a significant change in the average daily reading time of Generation Z college students.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the problems of the e-book composition provided by the Comprehensive Reading Education Support System and to propose a service improvement plan related to the establishment of e-books in school libraries as educational resources based on practical issues and perceptions experienced by teacher-librarians. As a research method, the composition of the collection of 3,002 e-books supported by the Busan Comprehensive Reading Education Support System as a reading education platform of the school library was analyzed based on the Korean Decimal Classification. Based on this, two focus group interviews (FGI) were conducted with 4 elementary teacher-librarians and 5 secondary teacher-librarians working in Busan. The result of this study can be used as basic data to support students' reading activities using e-books as educational resources and to form an efficient e-book collection in school library.

  • 급변하는 도서관 내외의 정보 환경 변화에 따라 미래 도서관은 지식 수집과 정보 제공이라는 본연의 역할을 더욱 강화하는 방향으로 나아갈 것인지, 아니면 디지털 기술과 인터넷을 통한 정보 공유가 도서관 무용론으로 이어질 것인지 그 어느 때보다 커다란 도전에 직면해 있다 할 것이다. 기존의 도서관 장서가 전자책(e-book), 전자저널 등 디지털 매체로 대체되고 있으며, 디지털도서관 프로젝트에 의한 자료의 접근환경이 변화하는 상황에서 미래 도서관에서 장서의 변화를 조망하고 그 대응 전략을 살펴보고자 한다.

An Study on the Standardization for Bibliographic Records of Provider Supplied E-monograph Package (전자책 패키지의 서지레코드 표준화에 관한 연구)

  • It was difficult for user to identify e-books due to some problems such as duplicable bibliographic records and inconsistent descriptive cataloging when cataloging the bibliographic records of the e-book packages in OPAC. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to find the applicable methods of the provider neutral e-book(e-monograph) MARC record guideline for the standardization of the bibliographic records of the provider supplied e-book package. Through the literature reviews and homepage analysis of 15 university libraries in domestic, the theoretical background on cataloging e-book, the descriptive cataloging of e-book, the provider-neutral e-monograph MARC record guideline as new standard for e-book, and the libraries practices of cataloging bibliographic records of the e-book package were inquired. Based on these analysis, it was to suggest applicable methods of provider neutral e-book(e-monograph) MARC record guideline for the standardization of the bibliographic records of domestic e-book packages in aspect of cataloging rule, KORMARC, and neutral bibliographic records. This study will contribute to build FRBRization of the e-books in OPAC as finding the guideline for the standardization of the bibliographic records of the e-book packages for both providers and libraries.

  • The information about eBook cannot be added automatically to library catalog because the eBook Service Provider does not provide enough eBook metadata. Therefore, this paper was developed the eBook library's metadata in order to maintain the compatibility and interoperability analyzed the eBook service provider's metadata, KS X 6100 metadata, Dublin Core, MARC, and TEI Header, and extracted common meradata elements from them. We defined these common metadata elements as a core element and added other elements that uniquely describe eBook characteristics as a detailed adn additional elements for eBook metadata.

  • 디지털 전자출판의 대표적인 형태인 전자책은 다양한 분야에서 급성장을 하고 있으며 그 분야와 시장은 더욱 넓어지고 있다. 국내에서도 전자책을 제공하는 업체들이 생겨났으며, 이용자들도 증가하고 있다. 책을 검색하여 원하는 도서를 찾아 읽는다는 의미에서 도서관의 기능도 하고 있으며 따라서 합리적인 분류체계가 수반되어져야 할 것이다. 이에 본 논문에서는 국내 전자책 컨텐츠 업체 5곳과 국외 4곳을 선정한 후 이곳에서 제공하고 있는 전자책의 분류체계를 국내는 KDC와 국외는 DDC와 비교분석하여 보고자 한다.

A Study on the Cloud Collection (클라우드 컬렉션에 관한 연구)

  • Cloud collection, which is derived from cloud computing, is a framework that creates new value through library cooperative platform to preserve and manage libraries' duplicated collection. Due to E-book market vitalization and mass digitalization of retrospective print material, new library collection management paradigm has been expected that licensed based E-book service and management of shared print repository. This study discuss cloud collection concept which digital repository and Shared print repository are in complementary relations. And suggest cloud collection model can be applicable to Korean university libraries.
