Tools of the study included the protocol of supportive nursing intervention which was developed by researcher by means of reference, literal review and expert's advice. The measurement tool of hopelessness was translated by Won was the device of hopelessness self-evaluation from Beck, the tool for self-esteem measurement was developed by Rosenberg and translated by Kim, and the device of self-concept used by Lee et al, modified by Lee were used respectively. Data were analyzed using the SPSS/PC 9.0 program. The homogeneity of the subjects were tested using $x^2-test$ and t-test. 3 hypotheses were tested using t-test. Results: The results of the study can be summarized as follows. 1. The third hypothesis that the experimental group receiving supportive nursing intervention showed a little hopelessness than the control group not receiving supportive nursing intervention was supported (t=4.550, P=.000). 2. The third hypothesis that the experimental group receiving supportive nursing intervention showed more self-esteem than the control group not receiving supportive nursing intervention was supported (t=-6.40, p=.000). 3. The third hypothesis that the experimental group receiving supportive nursing intervention showed more self-concept than the control group not receiving supportive nursing intervention was supported (t=-6.065, P=.000). Conclusion: Supportive nursing intervention was effective nursing intervention strategy for reducing hopelessness and increasing self-esteem and self-concept of head and neck cancer patients. This study's design was one-group pre-post test quasi- experimental research. Methods: The subjects of study were 27 patients who were over 18 years old and admitted in hospice palliative care unit of S hospital in P city with agreement in hospice palliative care in their terminal disease. The experimental group subjects participated in holistic hospice nursing program took 120 minutes per session, a total of 1,200 minutes altogether for 10 sessions. The period of data collection was from April 6, 2004 to April 20, 2005. The collected data were analyzed by Paired t-test with SPSS/WIN 12.0 program. A Wholistic Hospice Nursing Intervention Program (named ‘Rainbow Program’) was used as a experimental tool in this study. This was developed by the authors. It was provided by interdisciplinary hospice team (nurses, medical doctors, social worker, pastors, art therapists, and volunteers). In addition, Korean Version of Brief Pain Inventory (BPI-K) by Young-Ho Yun(1998) was used to test degree of pain in physical aspect. And State-Anxiety Inventory was developed by Spielberger(1975) and translated by Kim, Jung-Tack & Shin, Dong-Gyun(1978) was used to test the degree of state-anxiety in emotional aspect. Results: (1) Hypothesis No. 1 "The experimental group which received Wholistic Hospice Nursing Program will have a lower degree of pain than before" was supported (t=-10.585, P= .000). (2) Hypothesis No. 2 "The experimental group which received Wholistic Hospice Nursing Program will have a lower degree of state-anxiety than before" was supported (t=-8.234, P= .000). Conclusion: Our results testified that this Wholistic Hospice Nursing Intervention Program was effective to decrease pain and state-anxiety of the in-patients of hospice palliative care unit. The aim of this study was to compare perception between patient and nurse on comprehensive nursing care service using SERVQUAL model. To accomplish this goal, the 5 gaps of expectation-perception on comprehensive nursing care service was analyzed. The subjects were 192 nurses and 321 patients who admitted in comprehensive nursing care service wards. As results, patient's satisfaction was higher than patient's expectation and also nurse's performance. Therefore, we found that comprehensive nursing care service would contribute to perform holistic nursing care services in the future. To develop comprehensive nursing care service system sustainably, it needs continuous measurement of patient's expectation and satisfaction using conceptual model of this study.
The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of spiritual education for spiritual care competence reinforcement of nursing students. 83 subjects of nursing students were participated in two universities located in J city(from February 27 to May 19, 2017) and composed of 42 in the experimental group and 41 in the control group. The spiritual education was composed of three sections; self-awareness, spirituality, and spiritual dimension in nursing. This program was then implemented on the subjects for a total of 10 sessions with each session lasting 120 minutes and given 2 times a week for 5 weeks. The data collected were analyzed for descriptive statistics, χ2-test, Independent t-test and Repeated ANOVA. This spiritual education increased the spirituality, ego-identity, spiritual well-being, satisfaction with life, and spiritual care competence of the nursing students. The effectiveness of the spiritual education also maintained in five weeks after intervention. It is therefore proposed that this education be utilized for the nursing students as basic standardization process of a spiritual nursing care.
Purpose: We aimed to analyze the existing nursing studies related to Yangsaeng for providing a foundation for future studies and developing nursing interventions. Methods: Frequency analysis according to year, journal, study design, variable, and measure of the studies published in domestic nursing journals from 1990 to 2014 was performed. Results: First study of Yangsaeng was published in 1997. The numbers of studies related to Yangsaeng was continuously increasing until 2010 and reducing afterwards. Most nursing studies related to Yangsaeng were published at the Jounral of East-West Nursing Research targeting older adults. The most commonly used measure to assess the concept of Yangsaeng was the scale developed by Ae-Jung Kim in 2004. Most studies were quantitative and correlational studies and none of them was experimental research. Conclusion: It would be useful to incorporate the concept of Yangsaeng into nursing research because from a perspective of holistic nursing, the concept of Yangsaeng is similar with the view of health promotion. This may enable to expand the scope of nursing study from a diverse perspective.
Purpose: This study aimed to explore young adult donors' experiences of living donor liver transplantation. Methods: A phenomenological research method was used. The participants were two women and six men. Data were collected through individual in-depth interviews from November 25th, 2019 to June 10th, 2020 and analyzed using Colaizzi's phenomenological method. Results: Five theme clusters extracted from the young adult donors' experiences were painful decision of a liver donation, the agony of both mind and body that overpowers youth, the bitter and bare face of reality that a young donor encounters, feeling the power of love that fills up the space of the organ removed, and liver donation becoming priming water for maturity. Conclusion: The results of this study provide a deeper understanding of the lives of young adult donors who have experienced unexpected difficulties as well as self growth from the donation. It is expected that the results can be of use for developing and applying customized nursing interventions for management before and after liver donation among young adult donors.
