  • Wireless sensor network(WSN) is made up of a lot of battery operated inexpensive sensors that, once deployed, can not be replaced. Therefore, energy efficiency of WSN is essential. Among the methods for energy efficiency of the network, clustering algorithms, which divide a WSN into multiple smaller clusters and separate all sensors into cluster heads and their associated member nodes, are very energy efficient routing technique. The first cluster-based routing protocol, LEACH, randomly elects the cluster heads in accordance with the probability. However, if the distribution of selected cluster heads is not good, uniform energy consumption of cluster heads is not guaranteed and it is possible to decrease the number of active nodes. Here we propose a new routing scheme that, by comparing the remaining energy of all nodes in a cluster, selects the maximum remaining energy node as a cluster head. Because of decrease in energy gap of nodes, the node that was a cluster head operates as a member node much over. As a result, the network lifespan is increased and more data arrives at base station.

  • A low-voltage, low-power analog front-end IC for neural recording implant devices is presented. The proposed IC consists of a low-noise neural amplifier and a programmable active bandpass filter to process neural signals residing in the band of 1 Hz to 5 kHz. The neural amplifier is based on a source-degenerated folded-cascode operational transconductance amplifier (OTA) for good noise performance while the following bandpass filter utilizes a low-power current-mirror based OTA with programmable high-pass cutoff frequencies from 1 Hz to 300 Hz and low-pass cutoff frequencies from 300 Hz to 8 kHz. The total recording analog front-end provides 53.1 dB of voltage gain, $4.68{\mu}Vrms$ of integrated input referred noise within 1 Hz to 10 kHz, and noise efficiency factor of 3.67. The IC is designed using $18-{\mu}m$ CMOS process and consumes a total of $3.2{\mu}W$ at 1-V supply voltage. The layout area of the IC is $0.19 mm^2$.

  • High-frequency induction heating equipment can heat the metal by applying a High-Frequency power to the resonant circuit. The resonance circuit is composed of the work coil and the conduction-cooled power capacitor, it influences the performance of the heat treatment equipment according to the characteristics of the capacitor. However, dependence on conduction-cooled power capacitor's import is high due to lack of core technology research and development. Minimizing the generation of internal heat transmitted inside during LC resonance, reduce the reactive power loss, there is a need for a capacitor within the voltage characteristic outstanding. To implement localization it is vital that prior study of the analysis on the frequency response characteristic for the finished capacitor advanced manufacturer be implemented. Studying the interpolation method to read the value at any point of the characteristic curve for a given log-log scale was applied to the analysis tool of the capacitor by my proposed algorithm. The simulation for reproducing frequency response curves was attempted by assuming a capacitor in a simplified series equivalent RC circuit to obtain the equivalent series resistance value. It was confirmed that the reproduction rate was the result value above 83% as compared to the simulation of the properties and characteristics on the actual reactive power for Peak value, and that the algorithm can be applicable when analyzing and predicting the characteristic curves of a simpled model capacitor.

  • In this paper, a compact 20 W block-up-converter for C-band satellite communication is designed and implemented. The designed block up-converter consists of an intermediate frequency circuit, a mixer and local oscillator, a driver amplifier, a solid-state power amplifier, waveguide circuits, and a power supply module. To reduce the size of the block-up-converter, all circuits are assembled within an housing, so its dimension is just $21{\times}14{\times}11cm^3$. Especially, the waveguide filter and microstirp-to-waveguide transition are easily implemented using an housing. Also, to meet spurious and harmonics specification, various compact microstrip filters including an elliptic filter are integrated. Measurement results show that the developed block up-converter has good electrical performances: the output power of 43.7 dBm, the minimum gain of 65 dB, the gain flatness of ${\pm}1.84$, the IMD3 of -35 dBc, and the harmonic level of -105 dBc.

  • In this paper, two methods to suppress flutter of the composite panel are examined. First, in the active control method, a controller based on the linear optimal control theory is designed and control input voltage is applied on the actuators and a PZT is used as actuator. Second, a new technique, passive suppression scheme, is suggested for suppression of the nonlinear panel flutter. In the passive suppression scheme, a shunt circuit which consists of inductor-resistor is used to increase damping of the system and as a result the flutter can be attenuated. A passive damping technology, which is believed to be more robust suppression system in practical operation, requires very little or no electrical power and additional apparatuses such as sensor system and controller are not needed. To achieve the great actuating force/damping effect, the optimal shape and location of the actuators are determined by using genetic algorithms. The governing equations are derived by using extended Hamilton's principle. They are based on the nonlinear von Karman strain-displacement relationship for the panel structure and quasi-steady first-order piston theory for the supersonic airflow. The discretized finite element equations are obtained by using 4-node conforming plate element. A modal reduction is performed to the finite element equations in order to suppress the panel flutter effectively and nonlinear-coupled modal equations are obtained. Numerical suppression results, which are based on the reduced nonlinear modal equations, are presented in time domain by using Newmark nonlinear time integration method.

  • Even though the passengers' safety has priority on Passenger ship, there is no criterion on the evacuation performance related with human behavior. To uncover the potential problems of domestic criteria on safety of passenger ships, this study performed simulation ad analysis the evacuees safety before and after the Sewol's remodelling. It is clear that the assembly stations of both before and after Sewol remodelling have sufficient areas to satisfy the domestic criterion by simply human- body's-area, but those are failed to assemble all the passengers by the simulation tool that reflects the human behaviors' characteristics. For the healing angle as 0 degree, and the criteria of SOLAS, it was found out that all the passengers can safely evacuate from each cabins to the embarkation stations for both of the before-and-after the Sewol remodelling. But for the healing angle as 20 degree, both of the before-and-after Sewol remodelling are evaluated as possible to make all the passengers evacuate for day scenario and impossible for night scenario of SOLAS criteria. And because of the worse conditions after the remodelling, the probabilities of Sewol(before) are showed wide band comparing to Naminoue (after).

  • The 25 Watt hybrid MIC SSPA has been developed in the frequency rang from 1.6265 GHz to 1.6465 GHz for uplink of INMARST's earth station. To simplify the fabrication process, the whole system is designed of two parts composed of a friving amplifier and a power amplifier. The Motorolas MRF-6401 is used for driving part, the Motorolas MRF-16006 and MRF-16030 is used the power amplifier. We reduced weight and volume of high power amplifier through arranging the bias circuits in the same housing. The realized SSPA has more than 30 dB for gain within 20 MHz bandwidth, and the voltage standing wave ratios(VSWR) of input and output port are less than 1.7, respectively. The output power of 44 dBm is achieved at the 1 dB gain compression point of 106365 GHz These results reveal a high power amplifier of 25 Watt which is the design target. The Proposed SSPA manufacture techniques in this paper can be applied to the implementation of high power amplifiers for some radars and SCPC.

  • Shielded metal arc welding machines with AC transformer have been widely used for thin-plate welding applications. Because of being bulky, heavy and of tap-changing property, so the SMAW's are changing to new power electronic circuits such as inverter circuit in order to reduce the system size and also to improve the welding performances at input output sides. The PWM inverter arc welding machine with diode rectifier has better output welding performances but it is has the plentiful harmonics and the lower input power factor. To solve these problems, input current-controlled scheme is considered for PWM inverter arc welding system, and then total input power factor is maintained to be more than 99%. Also a new combined control is proposed which can control both instantaeous welding output voltage and current under constant power condition, and as a result the variations of instantaneous current and voltage can be reduced to very narrow range in the V-I curve relationship, and hence the variance of welding current and voltage become so reduced. In addition the spatter generated during welding process is greatly reduced up to 70%. And the overall effiency can be improved up to 10%, which becomes higher when the load is lower.

  • The ECG is biomedical electrical signal occurring on the surface of the body due to the contraction and relaxation of the heart. This signal represents an extremely important measure for health monitoring, as it provides vital information about a patient's cardiac condition and general health. ECG signals are contaminated with high frequency noise such as power line interference, muscle artifact and low frequency nose such as motion artifact. But it is difficult to filter nose from ECG signal, and errors resulting from filtering can distort a ECG signal. The present study implemented a small-size and low-power ECG measurement system that can remove motion artifact for convenient health monitoring during daily life. The implemented ECG monitoring system consists of ECG amplifier, a low power microprocessor, bluetooth module and monitoring program. Amplifier was designed and implemented using low power instrumentation amplifier, and microprocessor was interfaced to the ECG amplifier to collect the data, process, store and feed to a transmitter. And bluetooth module used to wirelessly transmit and receive the vital sign data from the microprocessor to an PC at the receiving site. In order to evaluate the performance of the implemented system, we assessed motion artifact rejection performance in each situation with artificially set condition using adaptive filter.

  • ECG signals are often contaminated with high-frequency noise such as muscle artifact, power line interference, and others. In the ECG signal processing, especially during a pre-processing stage, numerous noise removal techniques have been used to reduce these high-frequency noise without much distorting the original signal. This paper proposes a new type of digital filter with a continuously variable cutoff frequency to improve the signal quality This filter consists of a cutoff frequency controller (CFC) and variable cutoff frequency lowpass filter (VCF-LPF). From the noisy input ECG signal, CFC produces a cutoff frequency control signal using the signal slew rate. We implemented VCF-LPF based on two new filter design methods called convex combination filter (CCF) and weight interpolation fille. (WIF). These two methods allow us to change the cutoff frequency of a lowpass filter In an arbitrary fine step. VCF-LPF shows an excellent noise reduction capability for the entire time segment of ECG excluding the rising and falling edge of a very sharp QRS complex. We found VCF-LPF very useful and practical for better signal visualization and probably for better ECG interpretation. We expect this new digital filter will find its applications especially in a home health management system where the measured ECG signals are easily contaminated with high-frequency noises .
