Analysis of Motional Characteristics of Sperm Using Image Processing (영상처리를 이용한 정자의 운동 특성 분석)

  • In this paper, we developed an analyzing method of the motional characteristics of sperm, using image processing technology. Without the aid of a dedicated image-processor, this processing of a personal computer(PC) and a simple image processing board. The image processing board is used for acquiring images from a microscopic imaging source. The PC processes the images from the board and computes the parameters of motional characteristics of sperms. The algorithm of the site detection of sperms and the 'Match Matrix Method' is noteworthy. After comparing the results of our method with those of the manual method, and with those of the method using a dedicated image-processor, we concluded that our method is useful and reliable.

A Speed Increasing Test of BIMODALTRAM for Dynamic Response Analysis of Pipe-truss Bridges (파이프 트러스교의 동적특성 분석을 위한 바이모달트램 주행실험연구)

  • A bimodal tram is a new design vehicle introduced to improve a current transportation system, and it has advantages of a bus and a subway. A pipe truss bridge, an exclusive road of the bimodal tram, is constructed for introduction of the bimodal tram. An analysis of dynamic response characteristics is required because this new bridge has never constructed before. A speed increasing test on the pipe truss bridge was conducted with attaching a sensor to bottom of the bridge. Also, Dynamic response characteristics were analyzed by measuring displacements, the maximum vertical and horizontal acceleration about the new bridge through the experiment.

  • Pedestrian environment not only affects the quantitative degree in pedestrian movement, but also an impact on the local economics and environment that speaks within the greater dialogue of the qualitative life in an urban context. Recent urban planning issues have matured from a linear street development to a conversion of pedestrian friendly streets that synchronizes the entire pedestrian movement structures as a whole. Subject cases, Myung-Dong and Kwanchul-Dong, were selected from time regulated pedestrian streets in Seoul. Analysis of these streets was done through field studies and interviews. From the research, the outcome was helpful in providing the developers a greater perspective with the pedestrian movement structure that is not confined to a certain parameter, but in a larger scale within the urban environment. It was also useful in justifying ambiguous locations of pedestrian-only streets and crosswalks. Also, It aided in planning optimal scheme that concurs with the predictable pedestrian movement.

화련 대형내진모델시험 구조물의 지진응답해석

  • 본 논문에서는 국제공동연구로 수행중인 화련 대형내진모델시험 사업에서 계측지진기록을 이용한 모델구조물의 지진응답해석을 수행한 결과를 기술하였다. 지진응답해석은 3차원 유연체적 부구조법을 사용하는 지반-구조물 상호작용해석 전용 전산프로그램인 SASSI를 이용하여 수행하였으며, 지반 특성은 지반조사 결과 제시된 두 가지 지반모델과 계측지진 지반운동으로부터 직접 유도해 낸 지반모델의 지반 특성값을 사용하였다. 또한 본 연구에서는 지반과 구조물 특성값의 변화에 대한 구조물 지진응답의 민감도 및 지반의 비선형 특성이 구조물의 응답에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다.

Numerical Simulation on Ventilation Characteristics of an Underground Bus Parking Lot (버스전용 지하주차장의 환기 특성에 관한 수치해석적 연구)

  • In this paper, the ventilation characteristics of an underground parking lot with 17 buses has been investigated for two cases by computational fluid dynamics. It has been found that the average concentration of CO and $NO_x$ gas in the parking lot were 1.3 and 0.3 ppm respectively, when four buses operated. When the fifteen vehicles stopped in the parking lot, the average concentration of CO and $NO_x$ gas was 2.9 and 0.8 ppm respectively. The average concentration of two pollutants$(CO,\;NO_x)$ are lower than the standard values. Therefore the facilities and its location is proper to ventilation.

Performance Characteristics of CNG Vehicle at Various Compression Ratios (압축비 변경에 따른 CNG차량의 성능특성 연구)

  • Natural gas is one of the promising alternative fuels for automotive vehicles, because it has lower exhaust emissions and better fuel economy characteristics than those of gasoline, and can be used in conventional gasoline engines without major modifications. In the present study, a conventional gasoline engine was modified to a CNG engine, which can be operated with CNG only, and an engine bench test was performed to calibrate the operating parameters of the engine such as air fuel ratio, spark advance, etc. at various operating conditions. The modified CNG engine, then, was installed on a commercial gasoline vehicle and a vehicle driving test on chassis dynamometer was performed to examine the fuel economy and exhaust emission characteristics. As a result, the prototype CNG vehicle showed lower exhaust emissions and better fuel economy characteristics, but slightly reduced brake horse power, compared to the gasoline vehicle.
