Noise filtering for Depth Images using Shape Smoothing and Z-buffer Rendering (형상 스무딩과 Z-buffer 렌더링을 이용한 깊이 영상의 노이즈 필터링)

  • 본 논문에서는 동적 객체의 3 차원 정보를 표현하는 깊이 영상의 노이즈 필터링 방법을 제안한다. 실제 객체의 동적인 3 차원 정보는 적외선 깊이 센서가 장착된 깊이 비디오 카메라를 이용하여 실시간으로 획득되며, 일련의 깊이 영상, 즉 깊이 비디오(depth video)로 표현될 수 있다. 하지만 측정환경의 조명조건, 객체의 반사속성, 카메라의 시스템 오차 등으로 인해 깊이 영상에는 고주파 성분의 노이즈가 발생하게 된다. 이를 효과적으로 제거하기 위해 깊이 영상기반의 모델링 기법(depth image-based modeling)을 이용한 3 차원 메쉬 모델링을 수행한다. 생성된 3 차원 메쉬 모델은 깊이 영상의 노이즈로 인해 경계 영역과 형상 내부 영역에 심각한 형상 오차를 가진다. 경계 영역의 오차를 제거하기 위해 깊이 영상으로부터 경계 영역을 추출하고, 가까운 순서로 정렬한 후 angular deviation 을 이용하여 불필요하게 중복된 점들을 제거한다. 그리고 나서 2 차원 가우시안 스무딩 기법을 적용하여 부드러운 경계영역을 생성한다. 형상 내부에 대해서는 경계영역에 제약조건을 주고 3 차원 가우시안 스무딩 기법을 적용하여 전체적으로 부드러운 형상을 생성한다. 최종적으로 스무딩된 3 차원 메쉬모델을 렌더링할 때, 깊이 버퍼에 있는 정규화된 깊이 값들을 추출하여 원래 깊이 영상과 동일한 깊이 영역을 가지도록 저장함으로서 전역적으로 연속적이면서 부드러운 깊이 영상을 생성할 수 있다. 제안된 방법에 의해 노이즈가 제거된 깊이 영상을 이용하여 고품질의 영상기반 렌더링이나 깊이 비디오 기반의 햅틱 렌더링에 적용할 수 있다.

Inspection for Inner Wall Surface of Communication Conduits by Laser Projection Image Analysis (레이저 투영 영상 분석에 의한 통신 관로 내벽 검사 기법)

  • This paper proposes a novel method for grading of underground communication conduits by laser projection image analysis. The equipment thrust into conduit consists of a laser diode, a light emitting diode and a camera, the laser diode is utilized for generating projection image onto pipe wall, the light emitting diode for lighting environment and the image of conduit is acquired by the camera. In order to segment profile region, we used a novel color difference model and multiple thresholds method. The shape of profile ring is represented as a minimum diameter and the Fourier descriptor, and then the pipe status is graded by the rule-based method. Both local and global features of the segmented ring shaped, the minimum diameter and the Fourier descriptor, are utilized, therefore injured and distorted pipes can be correctly graded. From the experimental results, the classification is measured with accuracy such that false alarms are less than 2% under the various conditions.

Analyzing the spectral characteristic and detecting the change of tidal flat area in Seo han Bay, North Korea using satellite images and GIS (위성영상과 GIS를 이용한 북한 서한만 지역의 간석지 분광특성 및 변화 탐지)

  • In this study the tidal area in Seo han bay, North Korea was detected and extracted by using various satellite images (ASTER, KOMPSAT EOC, Landsat TM/ETM+) and GIS spatial analysis. Especially, the micro-landform was classified through the spectral characteristic of each satellite image and the change of tidal flat size was detected on passing year. For this, the spectral characteristics of eight tidal flat area in Korea, which are called as Seo han bay, Gwang ryang bay, Hae iu bay, Gang hwa bay, A san bay, Garorim bay, Jul po bay and Soon chun bay, were analyzed by using multi band of multi spectral satellite images such as Landsat TM/ETM+. Moreover, the micro-landform tidal flat in Seo han bay, North Korea was extracted by using ISODATA clustering based on the result of spectral characteristic. In addition, in order to detect the change of tidal flat size on passing years, the ancient topography map (1918-1920) was constructed as GIS DB. Also, the tidal flat distribution map based on the temporal satellite images were constructed to detect the tidal flat size for recent years. Through this, the efficient band to classify the micro-landform and detect its boundary was clarified and one possibility of KOMPSAT EOC application could be also introduced by extracting the spatial information of tidal flat efficiently.

Real-time Fluid Animation using Particle Dynamics Simulation and Pre-integrated Volume Rendering (입자 동역학 시뮬레이션과 선적분 볼륨 렌더링을 이용한 실시간 유체 애니메이션)

  • The fluid animation procedure consists of physical simulation and visual rendering. In the physical simulation of fluids, the most frequently used practices are the numerical simulation of fluid particles using particle dynamics equations and the continuum analysis of flow via Wavier-Stokes equation. Particle dynamics method is fast in calculation, but the resulting fluid motion is conditionally unrealistic The method using Wavier-Stokes equation, on the contrary, yields lifelike fluid motion when properly conditioned, yet the complexity of calculation restrains this method from being used in real-time applications. Global illumination is generally successful in producing premium-Duality rendered images, but is also excessively slow for real-time applications. In this paper, we propose a rapid fluid animation method incorporating enhanced particle dynamics simulation method and pre-integrated volume rendering technique. The particle dynamics simulation of fluid flow was conducted in real-time using Lennard-Jones model, and the computation efficiency was enhanced such that a small number of particles can represent a significant volume. For real-time rendering, pre-integrated volume rendering method was used so that fewer slices than ever can construct seamless inter-laminar shades. The proposed method could successfully simulate and render the fluid motion in real time at an acceptable speed and visual quality.
