  • An agent based geographic routing protocol is proposed to improve the well-known geographic routing protocol-GPSR routing protocol. In the proposed scheme, the agent is selected by sink node which concern about the source node's position as well as agent candidate's state. So packets will first be forwarded to agent and next step is to be forwarded to their final goal- sink node from agent. During the next hop selection process, nodes select their neighbors by considering not only position but also their average available buffer size. This results in efficient selection of next hop node in congestion area, and then increases the successful packet delivery ratio. The simulation is conducted for two scenarios: general number of connections and large number of connections in our map. Results show that new method with agent achieves improved performance in successful packet delivery ratio when compares to GPSR without our scheme.

  • This paper proposes the dynamic slot allocation method for real-time VBR (rt-VBR) services in wireless ATM networks. The proposed method is characterized by a contention-based mechanism of the reservation request, a contention-free polling scheme for transferring the dynamic parameters. The base station scheduler allocates a dynamic parameter minislot to the wireless terminal for transferring the residual lifetime and the number of requesting slots as the dynamic parameters. The scheduling algorithm uses a priority scheme based on the maximum cell transfer delay parameter. Based on the received dynamic parameters, the scheduler allocates the uplink slots to the wireless terminal with the most stringent delay requirement. The simulation results show that the proposed method guarantee the delay constraint of rt-VBR services along with its cell loss rate significantly reduced.

  • Compared to terrestrial RF communications, underwater acoustic communications have several limitations such as limited bandwidth, high level of fading effects, and a large underwater propagation delay. In this paper, in order to tackle those limitations of underwater communications and to make it possible to form a large underwater monitoring systems, we propose a hierarchical underwater network architecture, which consists of underwater sensors, clusterheads, underwater/surface sink nodes, autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). In the proposed architecture, for the maximization of packet delivery ratio and the minimization of underwater sensor's energy consumption, a hybrid routing protocol is used. More specifically, cluster members use Tree based routing to transmit sensing data to clusterheads. AUVs on optimal trajectory movements collect the aggregated data from clusterhead and finally forward the data to the sink node. Also, in order to minimize the maximum travel distance of AUVs, an Integer Linear Programming based algorithm is employed. Performance analysis through simulations shows that the proposed architecture can achieve a higher data delivery ratio and lower energy consumption than existing routing schemes such as gradient based routing and geographical forwarding. • IEEE 802.15.6 standard, a Wireless Body Area Network, aims to transfer not only medical data but also non-medical data, such as physical activity, streaming, multimedia game, living information, and entertainment. Services which transfer those data have very various data rates, intervals and frequencies of continuous access to a medium. Therefore, an efficient anti-collision operations and medium assigning operation have to be carried out when multiple nodes with different data rates are accessing shared medium. IEEE 802.15.6 standard for CSMA/CA medium access control method distributes access to the shared medium, transmits a control packet to avoid collision and checks status of the channel. This method is energy inefficient and causes overhead. These disadvantages conflict with the low power, low cost calculation requirement of wireless body area network, shall minimize such overhead for efficient wireless body area network operations. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a medium access scheduling scheme, which adjusts the time interval for accessing to the shared transmission medium according to the amount of data for generating respective sensor node, and a priority control algorithm, which temporarily adjusts the priority of the sensor node that causes transmission concession due to the data priority until next successful transmission to ensure fairness.

  • 본 논문에서는 IEEE 802.11 WLAN(Wireless LAN)에서 기본 액세스 방식인 DCF(Distributed Coordination Function)의 성능을 높이기 위하여 개선된 알고리즘을 제안한다.

  • In wireless sensor networks, the transmission success ratio would be decreased when the scale of the WSNs increased. To defeat this problem, we propose a multipath routing based on opportunistic routing for improving end-to-end reliability in large-scale wireless sensor networks. The proposed scheme exploits the advantages of existing opportunistic routing and achieves high end-to-end success ratio by branching like a multipath routing through local decision without information of the whole network. As a result of the simulation result, the proposed scheme shows a similar or higher end-to-end transmission success ratio and less energy consumption rather than the existing scheme.

  • The Stream Control Transmission Protocol(SCTP) is a reliable transport layer protocol that provides several features. Multihoming is the one of the features and allows an association(SCTP's term for a connection) between two endpoints to use multiple paths. One of the paths, called a primary path, is used for initial data transmission and in the case of retransmission an alternate path is used. SCTP's current retransmission policy attempts to improve the chance of success by sending all retransmissions to an alternate destination address. However, SCTP's current retransmission policy has been shown to actually degrade performance in many circumstances. It is because that, due to Karn's algorithm, successful retransmissions on the alternate path cannot be used to update RTT(Round-Trip Time) estimation for the alternate path. In this paper we propose a scheme to avoid such performance degradation. We utilize 2bits which is not used in the flag field of DATA and SACK chunks to disambiguate original transmissions from retransmissions and to keep RTT and RTO(Retransmission Time-Out) values more accurate.
