Social issues for environmental pollution are continuously increasing globally. Especially, Users require services to measure environmental factors in indoor and outdoor and manage related data effectively and conveniently. According to this demand, sensors that can measure environmental factors in indoor and outdoor have been developed. However, since one sensor is composed of independent module, the interface of output data from each sensor is different. To solve the problem, we propose a customized protocol for low-power short-range wireless communication between smartphone using Bluetooth and All-in-One sensor device board and analyze the performance of the proposed customized protocol by developing program for performance verification of interface with user smartphone through Bluetooth. In addition, we implement a smartphone application using proposed protocol.

The development of efficient wearable antennas is required to implement short range body-centric wireless communication links for various internet of thing applications. We present simulation and measurement results of conductive-fiber-based wearable antennas which can comfortably fabricated directly on usual clothing materials. The proposed antenna is a form of a rectangular patch antenna designed by weaving conductive fibers on a felt substrate. A full-wave electromagnetic simulation tool is used to investigate the antenna performance such as antenna impedance, resonant frequency, and radiation efficiency. Parametric studies show that the radiation efficiency increases from 67.5% to 70.4% by widening the gap between conductive fibers from 0.25mm to 3mm. This implies a wearable antenna with good radiation efficiency can be designed despite of less portion of conductive fibers on the antenna. The simulation results are also verified by measured results with fabricated antennas.

After the North-South Korean summit and PyeongChang Winter Olympics, it is recently expected that the North-South economic cooperation plan will be discussed in earnest. And it will be growing interest of the major infrastructure facilities such as roads and railways, and so on North-South Korean. Moreover, most of North Korean facilities have problems related to the safety and functionality of them such as aging, deterioration, and poor maintenance. This study asserts the necessity and importance of infrastructure maintenance in the Korean Peninsula. Therefore, Results of this study, it is appeared that very vulnerable to road, railroad, power/communication, water sewage and needed urgently for improvement. Accordingly, The purpose of this study is to investigate the current status for the whole facilities including the main infrastructure of the North Korean and to evaluate on the maintenance level of infrastructure based on face to face interview refugees of North Korean.

MAI(Multi-Access Interference) and fast channel variation due to the fading environment are the major problems in the mobile CDMA communication systems. Recently, interest has been increasing in applying the Adaptive Linear MMSE Detector to MAI cancellation in the CDMA reverse link. In this paper, we propose a modified Adaptive Linear MMSE Detector structure which can be used in Long-duration code CDMA system in the presence of independent Rayleigh fading. We use independent multiple tap-weight vector structure to cope with the variation of spreading sequence pattern between neighbor symbols because of the Long-duration code. In this case, more exact channel parameter estimation is required. To solve this problem, we use coherent CDMA structure which can track the channel parameters like amplitude and phase by employing the low power pilot channel in the CDMA reverse link.

A clock recovery circuit for a 40 Gb/s optical receiver has been designed and implemented. The clock recovery circuit consists of pre-amplifiers, a nonlinear circuit with diodes, a bandpass filter and a clock amplifier. Before implementing the 40 Gb/s clock recovery circuit, a 10 Gb/s clock recovery circuit has been successfully implemented and tested. With the 40 Gb/s clock recovery circuit, when a 40 Gb/s signal of -10 dBm was applied to the input of the circuit, the 40 GHz clock was recovered with the -20 dBm output power after passing through the nonlinear circuit. The output signal from the nonlinear circuit passes through a narrow-band filter, and then amplified. The implemented clock recovery circuit is planned to be used for the input of a phase locked loop to further stabilize the recovered clock signal and to reduce the clock jitter.

MIMO systems utilizing multiple antenna transmission and reception is one of the key technologies to enhance the capacity of 5G wireless communications. In order to obtain an appropriate performance evaluation of MIMO techniques, the usage of wireless channel model reflecting spatial channel characteristics is required, such as the 3-dimensional spatial channel model(3D SCM) proposed by 3GPP TR36.873 documentation. In this paper, we implement and verify the channel simulation environment based on 3D SCM, to present and compare the characteristics of UMi and UMa environments. We also apply MIMO transmission to the UMa scenario to investigate the channel correlation among antenna elements with different array distances and to identify the corresponding throughput changes. By evaluating the channel power correlations for randomly distributed users within the sector for different horizontal and vertical antenna distances, we present the statistical characteristics which determine the transmission performance under the SCM environment.
Double-binary turbo code has been adopted as an error control code of various future communication systems including wireless metropolitan area networks(WMAN) due to its powerful error correction capability. One of the components affecting the performance of turbo code is internal interleaver. In 802.16 d/e system, an almost regular permutation(ARP) interleaver has been included as a part of specification, however it seems that the interleaver is not optimized in terms of decoding performance. In this paper, we propose three optimization methods for the interleaver based on spatial distance, spread and minimum distance between original and interleaved sequence. We find optimized interleaving parameters for each optimization method and evaluate the performances of the proposed methods by computer simulation under additive white Gaussian noise(AWGN) channel. Optimized parameters can provide up to 1.0 dB power gain over the conventional method and furthermore the obtainable gain does not require any additional hardware complexity.
Single-beam acoustic tweezers that are capable of manipulating micron-size particles in a non-contact manner have been used in many biological and biomedical applications. Current single-beam acoustic tweezer systems developed for in vitro experiments consist of a function generator and a power amplifier, thus the system is bulky and expensive. This configuration would not be suitable for in vivo and clinical applications. Thus, in this paper, we present a portable single-beam acoustic tweezer system and its performances of trapping and manipulating micron-size objects. The developed system consists of an Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) chip and two pulsers, and parameters such as center frequency and pulse duration were controlled by a Personal Computer (PC) via a USB (Universal Serial Bus) interface in real-time. It was shown that the system was capable of generating the transmitting pulse up to 20 MHz, and producing sufficient intensity to trap microparticles and cells. The performance of the system was evaluated by trapping and manipulating 40 ㎛ and 90 ㎛ in diameter polystyrene particles.
The sensor network that is component of the Internet of Things require a lot of research to select the best route to send information to the anchor node, to collect a number of environment and cost efficient for communication between the sensor life. On the sensor network in one of the components of IOT's environment, sensor nodes are an extension device with low power low capacity. For routing method for data transmission between the sensor nodes, the connection between the anchor and the node must be accurate with in adjacent areas relatively. Localization CA (Centroid Algorithm) is often used although an error frequently occurs. In this paper, we propose a range-free localization method between sensor nodes based on the Radical Line in order to solve this problem.
Tank, which is a representative ground weapon system, is one of the most important weapon systems in each country. For the cost-effective acquisition of a tank based on scientific analysis, the operational concept and effectiveness should be studied based on engagement simulation technology. Besides physical capabilities including maneuver and communication, logical models including decision-making of a tank commander should be developed systematically. This paper describes a method to model a tank for engagement simulation based on Base System Model(BSM), which is the standard architecture of the weapon system model in AddSIM, an integrated engagement simulation software. In particular, a method is proposed to develop logical models by hierarchical and modular approach based on human decision-making model. The proposed method applies a mathematical formalism called DEVS(Discrete EVent system Specification) formalism. It is expected that the proposed method is widely used to study the operational concept and analyze the effectiveness of tanks in the Korean military in the future.
