  • In the case of urban railway facilities, the power supply should be maintained for the safe movement of passengers in communication facilities, disaster prevention facilities and boarding area security because of the confusion when power supply is cut off due to the nature of public transportation. In addition, considering that the number of trains is running on the urban railway line, it is necessary to operate at least 30 minutes for the bus stop and at least 1 hour for the communication and disaster prevention facilities. Therefore, it is essential to supply emergency power source to maintain stable operation of induction lamp and smoke exhaust system because main power is cut off in order to prevent further spread due to fire in case of the history of urban railway section or vehicle fires. Recently, UPS(Uninterruptible Power Supply) function to prevent power outage in emergency, emergency power generation combined with ESS function which saves electricity at nighttime price time, A hybrid power storage system with a UPS function.

Economic Welfare Study on Seasonal and Time Period Electricity Pricing (계시별 전력가격에 대한 경제적 후생 연구)

  • The aim of this study is to analysis how economic welfare lost happens within the present korea seasonal and time period electricity pricing system and find out reasonable electricity price system acceptable during the transitional period of korea electricity industry restructuring To analyze economic welfare lost in the electricity industry, in advance seasonal and time periodic 9 demand curves(summer, spring &fall, winter/peak-load time, middle-load time, low-load time) and one market supply curve are made and then using these demand and supply curve, seasonal and time periodic market equilibrium prices is calculated. Finally, comparing these market equilibrium prices with present regulated classified seasonal and time periodic prices, the whole economic welfare lost in the electricity industry is calculated. The result of this study shows that in 2002, the total economic welfare lost in electricity industry is 137,770 million Won and under present price system, the worst welfare lost is happening seasonally in spring & fall, time periodically in the middle-load time. Specifically analyzing the characteristics of welfare lost, especially on the industry customers and service customers which are applied in seasonal and time periodic pricing, for the industry customers, the welfare lost calculated in this class occupies 51% of the total welfare lost in the whole electricity industry and the worst welfare lost is happening seasonally in spring & fall, time periodically in the middle-load time. For service customers, the welfare lost calculated in this class occupies 13% of the total welfare lost in the whole electricity industry and the worst welfare lost is happening seasonally in summer, time periodically in the peak time Finally, this study was made based on the year of 2002 and KEPCO has practiced two times of rate change until now. The result of rate change was positively analyzed in the direction of economic welfare improvement(welfare improvement achieved by 16.3% compared to 2002 result).

  • 최근 천재지변 및 여름철 전력난과 같은 예상치 못한 정전이 증가함에 따라 소규모 사업장 및 가정에서 무정전 전원공급장치에 대한 관심이 증대되고 있다. 기존의 무정전 전원공급장치는 정전 보상시간에 비례하여 높은 가격과 유지비용이 요구되며 사용자 편의성이 부족한 단점이 있었다. 본 논문에서는 무정전 전원공급장치 용량을 1/10 로 줄이고 부족한 정전보상시간을 늘리기 위하여 소형동기 발전기를 결합한 무정전 발전공급장치에 관한 설계 안을 제시한다. 제시한 발전공급장치는 Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) 기반의 제어기를 사용하여, 정전 발생시 순차적으로 무정전 전원공급장치와 소형 동기발전기를 동작시켜 전원을 공급한다. 또한 센서 네트워킹, 실시간 모니터링, 원격제어 등 다양한 실시간 서비스를 사용자에게 제공한다.

Households' willingness to pay for the residential electricity use (주택용 전력에 대한 지불의사액 분석)

  • Electricity is a basis for human existence. This paper attempts to analyze the households' willingness to pay (WTP) for the residential electricity use. The WTP for the residential electricity use can be defined as the sum of actual price of and additional WTP for it. The former is easily observed in the market, but the second is not observed and thus should be obtained through a WTP survey of households. To this end, this study conducted a survey of randomly selected 1,000 households in Korea in November 2010. The results indicate that the mean additional WTP for the residential electricity use was estimated to be KRW 11.24 per kWh. Given that the average price of residential electricity was KRW 98.07 per kWh at the time of the survey, the economic benefit from the residential electricity use was computed as KRW 109.31 per kWh. This information can be compared with the cost involved in the supply of one kWh of residential electricity.

  • 최근 광대역 서비스에 대한 소비자들의 욕구가 차츰 증가하고 있고 대상콘텐츠도 데이터와 음성 및 비디오까지 포함된 멀티미디어 서비스로 변화함에 따라, 통신서비스 제공업체들은 이에 대한 해결책을 찾는 것이 지상과제가 되었다. xDSL, 케이블 모뎀, 광랜 등 엑세스 네트워크가 잘 발달되어 있는 국내에서도 멀티미디어 서비스의 최종 수신 장치가 될 TV, PC, 오디오 기기 및 전화기 등에까지 네트워크를 연결하기 위해서는 댁내에서 또 다른 홈 네트워크를 구성해야 하는 상황이다. 이러한 홈 네트워크를 가능하게 하는 기술로는 홈 RF, 무선랜, 블루투스 등 무선 홈 네트워크 기술과 IEEE1394, 이더넷, 홈 PNA, 전력선통신과 같은 유선 홈 네트워크 기술로 나눌 수 있다. 무선 홈 네트워르 기술의 경우, 댁내에서의 반사와 감쇄 등의 영향에 의한 음영지역이 존재하는 단점이 있고 또 RF단을 구현해야 하므로 시스템 가격이 올라가게 된다. IEEE1394, 이더넷, 홈 PNA 같은 유선 홈 네트워크기술의 경우에는 댁내 통신을 위해 새로운 선을 포설해야 하는데 이를 위해서는 막대한 시설 투자비가 들어가게 된다. 이 막대한 투자비는 홈 네트워크 구축에 많은 시간이 걸리게 하는 요인이 될 뿐만 아니라, 일반 사용자들이 서비스를 이용하기에는 가격적으로 부담스럽게 된다. 전력선통신 (PLC: Power Line Communication) 은 전기를 공급하는 전력선에 흐르고 있는 상용주파수 50/60Hz의 저주파 전력신호에 고주파 신호를 활용하여 데이터를 실어 나르는 통신기술이다. 집안 곳곳 이미 포설되어 있는 전력선이 이미 하나의 네트워크를 구성하고 있기 때문에 번거롭고 값비싼 추가 배선작업 없이 바로 네트워킹이 가능하다. 이와 같은 이유로 고속 PLC는 설치 용이성, 접근성, 속도 및 비용부분 등에서 경쟁기술에 비하여 여러 장점을 가지고 있다. 젤라인은 국내 전력선통신 표준을 만족하는 24Mbps 고속 전력선통신 칩을 기반으로 다양한 전력선 채널환경 하에서 최적의 통신을 보장하는 전력선 통신시스템을 제공하고 있으며, 이를 소개하고자 한다.

  • 발전부문 배출권 모의거래는 배출권 거래제 도입시 발전부부문에 미치는 영향 분석을 통해 발전부문의 대응전략을 수립하기 위한 목적으로 2008년에 전력거래소가 주관하여 발전5사(남동, 중부, 서부, 동서, 남부)가 주요 참여사로 하여 국내최초로 국내실정에 맞는 배출권 모의거래를 시행하였다. 모의거래에서는 2가지의 시나리오를 설정하였다. 시나리오 I은 최소발전량 발전, 시나리오 II는 총발전운영계획량과 발전실적량을 일치토록하는 전제조건을 설정하였다. 그 결과 시나리오 I에서 모든 참여사는 최소 조건을 충족하도록 발전하는 전략적 행위로 인하여 전력공급지장이 발생하였고, 시나리오 II는 온실가스 배출량이 적은 LNG발전소의 발전량은 증가시키고, 온실가스량이 많은 석탄화력은 증가 운전토록하는 전략적 행위를 취함으로써 발전원가의 상승으로 인하여 전력가격이 상승하는 결과를 초래하였다. 따라서 향후 우리나라에 배출권 거래제 도입될 경우에 대비하여 전력시장과 연계한 배출권 거래제의 다양한 시뮬레이션이 필요하다.

  • 다양한 정보와 동영상을 표시할 수 있는 멀티미디어 시대의 디스플레이 소자로서 Plasma Display Panel(PDP)은 특히 대형화면 분야에 유력한 표시장치로 각광을 받고 있다. 그러나 대화면의 벽걸이형 표시장치인 PDP가 널리 보급되기 위해서는 몇 가지 해결되어야 할 문제점들이 있다. 높은 소비전력과 화질의 향상, 그리고 높은 생산 가격 등의 문제점 중에서도 PDP 의 소비 전력을 낮추어야 하는 문제는 PDP의 보급을 위하여 가장 중요한 문제로 지적되고 있다. 새로운 유지 방전 구동 방식인 전하 제어 구동 방식은 기존의 구동 회로에 비해서 낮은 외부 공급전압을 사용함으로 사용되는 소자의 저가격화가 가능하며, 방전 시 소비되는 방전전류를 감소 시켜 소비전력을 낮추며 결과적으로 소비전력 대비 발광효율을 증대시키는 새로운 고효율 AC PDP 구동 방식이다.

Estimating the Investment Value of Fuel Cell Power Plant Under Dual Price Uncertainties Based on Real Options Methodology (이중 가격 불확실성하에서 실물옵션 모형기반 연료전지 발전소 경제적 가치 분석)

  • Hydrogen energy is emerging as an important means of carbon neutrality in the various sectors including power, transportation, storage, and industrial processes. Fuel cell power plants are the fastest spreading in the hydrogen ecosystem and are one of the key power sources among means of implementing carbon neutrality in 2050. However, high volatility in system marginal price (SMP) and renewable energy certificate (REC) prices, which affect the profits of fuel cell power plants, delay the investment timing and deployment. This study applied the real option methodology to analyze how the dual uncertainties in both SMP and REC prices affect the investment trigger price level in the irreversible investment decision of fuel cell power plants. The analysis is summarized into the following three. First, under the current Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS), dual price uncertainties passed on to plant owners has significantly increased the investment trigger price relative to one under the deterministic price case. Second, reducing the volatility of REC price by half of the current level caused a significant drop in investment trigger prices and its investment trigger price is similar to one caused by offering one additional REC multiplier. Third, investment trigger price based on gray hydrogen and green hydrogen were analyzed along with the existing byproduct hydrogen-based fuel cells, and in the case of gray hydrogen, economic feasibility were narrowed significantly with green hydrogen when carbon costs were applied. The results of this study suggest that the current RPS system works as an obstacle to the deployment of fuel cell power plants, and policy that provides more stable revenue to plants is needed to build a more cost-effective and stable hydrogen ecosystem.

  • Natural gas through pipeline is supplied to consumers after its pressure gets down compulsorily. The waste pressure energy of this process can be restored by use of turbo expander which can produce electricity. So, turbo expander conducts two functions - pressure reduction and power generation. The power amount is the enthalpy difference between the inlet and outlet states. The five main factors which affect economic profit are facility price, produced power amount, pre-heating amount, electricity cost, and fuel gas cost. Power generation depends mainly on flow amount because inlet and outlet states are fixed. A methodology to estimate economy in irregular flow pattern is proposed and using this way, a case study was carried out.

  • As one of urban infrastructure system, the electricity substation is critical for urban life and industrial activity as the electricity demands get higher than ever. However the substation is generally regarded as unpleasant or dangerous facility, which finally results in the continuous opposition movement by resident due to the belief of unidentified negative effect in apartment prices. Accordingly, as the scientifically objective and quantitative analysis is required to solve the social conflict, this study intends to examine the variation affected by urban infrastructure system, expecially for substation. After the independent variable defining the price of apartment and the dependent variable, which is apartment price, are identified and their spatial data has been filed, the forecasting model has been developed through the hedonic price function as well as artificial neural networks system. The research finding indicated that the spatial range affected by substation is not notable and the range of some case was applicable for less than 600m. It is expected that these research findings can be applied for establishing the one of solid cases for the analysis of economical effect to local housing market by the urban infrastructure system.
