A Multiple Case Study on The Globally Integrated Enterprise (글로벌 통합 기업에 대한 다중 사례 연구)

  • Globally Integrated Enterprise(GIE) has recently emerged as a popular concept in multinational enterprises(MNEs). In this paper, we use the AAA triangle in order to explain the degrees of adaptation, aggregation and arbitrage in IBM, P&G and NOKIA. The AAA triangle provides a basis for understanding GIE on the topic. This research also examines IT collaboration in order to provide practical guidance for implementation of AAA triangle. From the case study, several results are derived. First, we suggest a step-by-step approach for GIE to enhance global value creation with a situation. Second, we emphasize the importance of IT collaboration in process of introducing the AAA strategies. We believe that the issues we have raised in this paper will be useful to MNEs. In terms of the AAA triangle, this would be best thought of as a lateral shift to a new area of business, where the organization would have more of a competitive advantage.

An Incident-Responsive Dynamic Control Model for Urban Freeway Corridor (도시고속도로축의 유고감응 동적제어모형의 구축)

  • A Freeway corridor is a network consisting of a few Primary longitudinal roadways (freeway or major arterial) carrying a major traffic movement with interconnecting roads which offer the motorist alternative paths to his/her destination. Control measures introduced to ameliorate traffic performance in freeway corridors typically include ramp metering at the freeway entrances, and signal control at each intersections. During a severe freeway incident, on-ramp metering usually is not adequate to relieve congestion effectively. Diverting some traffic to the Parallel surface street to make full use of available corridor capacity will be necessary. This is the purpose of the traffic management system. So, an integrated traffic control scheme should include three elements. (a)on-ramp metering, (b)off-ramp diversion and (c)signal timing at surface street intersections. The purpose of this study is to develop an integrated optimal control model in a freeway corridor. By approximating the flow-density relation with a two-segment linear function. the nonlinear optimal control problem can be simplified into a set of Piecewise linear programming models. The formulated optimal-control Problem can be solved in real time using common linear program. In this study, program MPL(ver 4.0) is used to solve the formulated optimal-control problem. Simulation results with TSIS(ver 4.01) for a sample network have demonstrated the merits of the Proposed model and a1gorithm.

  • Most enterprise information systems today are silo systems in that they are not properly aligned nor integrated with one another. Such silo systems result because enterprises lack an architectural perspective in the planning and development of the systems. This paper proposes an Enterprise Architecture Orientation Model as a framework for the analysis, planning and design of the architectural quality of enterprise information systems. The model decomposes enterprise architecture into two dimensions-alignment and integration, and specifies for each dimension the general development and evolution stages enterprises may traverse. The alignment dimension represents the vertical strategic alignment of the systems with the vision, mission, strategy and goals of the enterprise, and is analyzed in terms of the performance, capability, and strategy of the enterprise. The integration dimension, on the other hand, represents the horizontal and functional integration among the systems that span organizational functions and boundaries, and is analyzed in terms of such technological components as IT infrastructure, data, application, and business processes. The model combines the alignment and integration dimensions to form a two-dimensional conceptual space for mapping the architectural quality of the enterprise. It is proposed that an enterprise use the model to identify and understand its position now and in the future in the architectural quality of the enterprise information systems. It is also proposed that the model provides a tool for the planning and design of the transition from one stage to the next in the alignment and integration of the systems to reach an architectural maturity. At the end, the paper discusses how the model can be applied differently according to the strategic orientation of the enterprise. An example of the usage of the model is presented.

An Empirical Research on Relations between Business Strategy and Marketing Strategy: Based on Miles and Snow's Strategic Typology and Porter's Generic Strategy (사업부 전략과 마케팅 전략 간의 관계에 관한 실증연구: Miles and Snow의 전략유형과 Porter의 본원전략을 기준으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to test consistent relations between business strategy and marketing strategy of product level and to identify association Miles and Snow's strategic typology and Porter's generic strategy. The data were collected by personal interview with top management and marketing managers who worked at strategic business units in industrial and consumer product industry. The result showed that Porter's generic strategy significantly related with strategic marketing activities of product level. Miles and Snow's typology related with innovative marketing and environment management of the product market. But different patterns of strategic activities were not found among strategy types of Miles and Snow. Significant association between Miles and Snow's strategic typology and Porter's generic strategy implicates a possibility of integrated approach of two strategic typologies.

The Effects of Conflict Management Strategies and Communication Competence on Relational Outcomes (갈등관리전략과 커뮤니케이션 능력이 상호관계에 미치는 영향)

  • The major goal of this study is to examine the relation between conflict management strategies and communication competences and the relation between communication competences and relational outcomes of actors in conflict communication situations. Some of the major findings are as follows; 1. The integrate strategy has some positive correlation with communication competences. But escape strategy has some negative correlations with them. It means that the actors who have integrate strategy seems to be evaluated their communication competences highly and the others who have escape strategy seems to be evaluated them lowly. 2. The communication competences have some positive correlations with the relational outcomes such as variables of intimacy, trust and relational satisfaction after conflict. This means the actors evaluate others' communication competences highly intend to have more intimacy, trust and relational satisfaction after conflicts. 3. The communication competence intermediate the conflict management strategy and relational outcomes after conflict. It means that relational outcomes after conflict depend on partners' recognitions of actors communication competence. In sort the present study demonstrates that it is important to improve communication competences in order to get some productive output in conflict interpersonal communication situation.

  • In order to apply strategic advanced project management to the Korean construction industry, the study conducted a comparative analysis of the project management body of knowledge of the advanced countries such as the USA and Japan as well as Europe. As a result, it was found that the connection to 'execution' of 'strategy' was highlighted as a common main issue in the theoretical background of project management body of knowledge, and strategic planning, which aligns 'program management' based on the integration of multiple project management and operations in single project with 'portfolio management' for selection and concentration, has been emphasized. Accordingly, the study built up the framework for the application of strategic advanced project management for strategic action in the Korean construction industry and proposed the following applicable solutions for implementation into the current Korean construction industry: 1) Innovate global competitiveness by preparing an 'ideology and philosophy' for the strategic action of an organization, 2) Establish a strategic 'environment' in consideration of the culture and structure of an organization, 3) Propose a strategic 'vision' for attaining a realizable goal within an organization, 4) Create an 'investment' on the portfolio in line with the strategy, 5) 'Execute' the program through the portfolio and project management. Lastly, the study brought up strategies for sustainable growth by applying strategic advanced project management to the Korean construction industry with a view to acquiring 'Performance' through the implementation and operation of their integrated system.

  • 우리나라의 금형산업의 기술력을 선진국에 비하여 결코 낮은 수준은 아니다. 그러나 외국의 기술력에 비하여 낮은 수준에 머물려 있는 이유로는 올바른 기술력을 정리 통합하지 못한 결과로 인하여 낮은 기술력으로 판정 받고 있으며, 고부가가치를 창출하지 못하고 있다. 이를 극복하지 위하여 경영 고도화를 위한 구축전략에 관하여 연구를 하게 되었으며, 이를 위한 첫 번째 과정으로 금형산업의 특성을 정확히 분석하여 표준화된 데이터를 구축하여 경영 고도화를 위한 구축전략을 연구하게 되었다. 중소형 금형산업의 경영 고도화를 위한 기반 구축전략은 2단계로 나누어서 각 단계의 구축 수준에 따라서 경영 고도화를 완성하는 단계를 설명하고 있다. 1단계에서는 현 설비와 기술수준을 파악하고 2단계로 발전할 수 있는 기반을 조성하며, 2단계에서는 CAD/CAM 구축하는 과정을 설명하고 있으며, 또한 해당업체의 금형 생산 방향에 따라서 CAD/CAM의 구축수준을 선정하여 필요 이상의 투자를 줄이고 효과적인 투자를 통하여 중소형 금형산업의 경영 고도화를 위한 기반 구축전략을 설명하고 있다.

  • 전력거래소는 전력IT 국가전략과제 중 하나인 한국형 에너지관리 시스템(Korean Energy Management System)개발[1]의 총괄을 담당하고 있으며, KEMS의 각 개발단계인 Baseline, Prototype, Fullscale에서의 단위, 실증, 통합 등의 모든 시험을 주관한다. KEMS는 세부 5개 과제의 여러 산학연 기관들이 참여하는 대규모 프로젝트로 통합된 시스템의 시험관리가 매우 중요하다. 전력거래소에서 사용하는 통합시험관리시스템(Total Project Administration System)은 KEMS의 이러한 통합된 시험관리를 웹에서 가능하도록 해주는 시스템으로, 시험 진행 중 발생되는 Variance를 발행하고, 그에 대한 보완계획을 입력하고 해결여부를 추적하는 것이 주된 기능이다. 이 논문에서는 현재 버전 2.0까지 개발되어 사용되고 있는 TOPAS시스템과 KEMS개발에서의 시험관리 방법 등에 대하여 살펴보고자 한다.

  • HMS(Hallym Mediator System)는 XML을 기본 데이터 모델로 하여 인터넷에 산재하여 있는 분산이질 정보에 대한 통합, 검색기능을 제공하는 미디에이터 시스템이다. 분산이질 정보의 공통 스키마 구조로서 XML DTD를 사용하며, 각종 정보에 대한 가상의 통합 뷰(view) 생성기능을 제공하여 웹 상의 통합된 가상정보 구조를 표현한다. 웹 상의 일반 사용자는 이와 같이 생성된 뷰 DTD를 근거로 분산이질 정보에 대한 구조적, 내용적 질의를 수행할 수 있다. HMS는 가상접근 기법(virtual approach) 기반의 정보검색 시스템으로서, 사용자 질의는 XML 형태의 소스 매핑정보를 이용하여 각 소스에 대한 부질의로 변환되며, 각 소스로부터의 검색결과는 시스템에 의하여 통합되어 XML 문서 형태로 돌아오게 된다. HMS에서 는 DTD 구동형의 비쥬얼 사용자 인터페이스를 제공하여, 관리자와 일반 사용자에게 직관적이고 간편한 가상정보 구축 및 질의검색 환경을 제공한다.
