  • Acoustic resonance characteristics were analyzed and their effect on the refrigerating capability were experimentally verified on a fabricated Hofler-type thermoacoustic refrigerating system. Factors governing the overall resonance are the resonator composed of a cavity and two pipes, the loudspeaker driving the resonator, and rear side impedance characteristics of speaker housing. All these are coupled with electric constants of the speaker to exhibit electric resonance. Also the 'wall-effect' within the resonator causes attenuation to reduce the sharpness of the resonance. Analysis and experiments showed housing and the wall-effect of the resonator reduce the sharpness of resonance. Maintaining the accuracy of the resonance is, therefore, very important for efficient refrigeration.

  • Considering biological safety, it is very important to measure acoustic power from ultrasonic array probe for diagnostic ultrasound imaging applications. In this paper, to measure acoustic power from each element on array probe for ultrasonic diagnostic equipment, we reconstruct and automate the acoustic power measurement system. The acoustic power from linear, phased and curved array were measured and analyzed. As a result of measurement, the effects caused by directivity of sound beam from curved array were founded. To remove these effects, we developed and applied the correction model. The proposed system is useful to evaluate characteristics of the acoustical output power of array probe.

  • This paper proposes a study on applying signal processing and deep learning for sound recognition that detects sounds commonly heard in daily life (Screaming, Clapping, Crowd_clapping, Car_passing_by and Back_ground, etc.). In the proposed sound recognition, several techniques related to the spectrum of sound waves, augmentation of sound data, ensemble learning for various predictions, convolutional neural networks (CNN) deep learning, and two-dimensional (2-D) data are used for improving the recognition accuracy. The proposed sound recognition technology shows that it can accurately recognize various sounds through experiments.

  • Because of internal voids in insulators give rise to partial discharge(PD), which cause local breakdown and even entire insulation breakdown. Treeing due to PD is one of the main causes of breakdown of the insulating materials and nrluction of the insulation life. 1berefore the necessity for establishing a rrethod to diagnose the aging of insulation materials and to predict the breakdown of insulation has becorne irrportant. From this viewpoint, our studies diagnose insulation degradation using the rrethod of computer sensing system, which has PD and acoustic emission(AE) sensing system. To use advantages of these two methods can be used effectiveiy to search for treeing location and PD in sorre materials. In analysis rrethod of degradation, we analyzed the PD and AE pulses by regression analysis, corrpared to these obtained the correlation coefficient and retermination coefficient by T-distribution and saw that PD and AE pulses show a similar pattern on the whole. This has a similar teIlrency to the results of the research by Yoshimura and Fujita.Fujita.

  • The present work investigate the effect of sound reinforcement systems on the acoustics of a large dome stadium using a computer simulation. The acoustics of a dome stadium was predicted analyzed by varying room absorption, as well as the configuration of speakers including their directivity, installed height, and numbers. It was found that both D50 and RASTI were improved by increasing room absorption. Larger EDTs were observed according to the increase of room absorption at mid and high frequencies. On the other hand, RT did not show any significant correlation with the changes in room absorption, which might be the effect of a forced linear fitting for non -linear energy decay process. With respect to the speaker configuration, the speech intelligibility of a sound reforcement system installed at higher placed more relied upon their directivity rather than room absorption, Also, lower placing of speakers was found to be effective in decreasing RTs regardless of room absorption.
