  • This study investigates the effect of temperature and electric field strength on the Bingham characteristics of Electro-Rheological(ER) fluids which change their Yield shear stress and viscosity by temperature and electric field strength. It is found that under constant temperature the Yield sheal stress and viscosity of ER fluids proportionally increase with the applied electric field strength, and under constant applied electric field strength the Yield shear stress and viscosity of ER fluids decrease with the increasing temperature. These results are considered to be applied to the fluid and pneumatic power industry.

  • In this paper, a new approach for a sampled-data representation of nonlinear system that has time-delayed multi-input is proposed. That is largely devoid of illconditioning and is suitable for any nonlinear problem. The new scheme is applied to nonlinear systems with two or three inputs; and then the delayed multi-input general equation is derived. The method is based on thematrix exponential theory. Itdoes not require excessive computational resources and lends itself to a short and robust piece of software that can be easily inserted into large simulation packages. A performance of the proposed method is evaluated using a nonlinear system with time-delay: maneuvering an automobile.

  • This paper deals with magnetic characteristic analysis of axial flux permanent magnet coupling according to overload using analytical method. When magnet coupling has a slip, the eddy current induced in PM with conductivity. This eddy current make a distorted flux density. In this paper, we analyze the distorted flux density. The analytical results are validated extensively by comparing with 3d finite element analysis.

  • In the present work, a series of experiments have been performed on electro-hydrodynamic atomization of non-conducting liquid using a charge injection type nozzle. Effects of liquid flow rate, input voltage, and distance between the needle and the ground electrode (nozzle-embedded metal plate) have been examined. For fixed electrode distances, total and spray currents increase with increase of liquid flow rate and input voltage. When the distance between the needle and the ground electrode becomes closer, total, leakage and spray current increase, but the onset voltage for dielectric breakdown decreases. When the electric field strength of the liquid jet exceeds that for the air breakdown, a portion of the electric charges in the liquid jet is dissipated into the ambient air, and the charge density shows a limiting value. Atomization quality can be improved by increasing the flow rate because the higher charge density is achieved with the larger liquid velocity in addition to the enhanced aerodynamic effect.

  • This paper deals with eddy current loss analysis of Slotless Double sided Cored type permanent magnet linear generator by using analytical method, space harmonic method. In order to calculate eddy current, this paper derives analytical solution by the Maxwell equation, magnetic vector potential, Faraday's law and a two-dimensional(2-D) cartesian coordinate system. First, we derived the armature reaction field distribution produced by armature wingding current. Second, by using derived armature reaction field solution, the analytical solution for eddy current density distribution are also obtained. Finally, the analytical solution for eddy current loss induced in permanent magnets(PMs) are derived by using equivalent, electrical resistance calculated from PMs volume and eddy current density distribution solution. The analytical result from space harmonic method are validated extensively by comparing with finite element method(FEM).

  • ZnS/$Na_3AlF_6$/ZnS/Cu multi-layered thin film were simulated by EMP. EMP is a comprehensive software package for the design and analysis of optical thin film. ZnS and $Na_3AlF_6$ was selected as a high refractive index material and low refractive index material And Cu was selected as mid reflective material. Optical properties including color effect were systematically studied in terms of different low refractive index materials thickness. $Na_3AlF_6$ were changed 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, $1.0{\lambda}$. The thin film showed $0.25{\lambda}$ : blue, purple / $0.5{\lambda}$ : yellow $0.75{\lambda}$ : blue, purple, red / $1.0{\lambda}$ : yellow, green, blue, purple. It was becaused by different optical thickness of $Na_3AlF_6$. The maximum of optical interference by refractive layer.

The Optical properties of Fe2O3/Na3AlF6/Fe2O3/Cu, Al, Cr Multi Layered Thin Film depending on the Optical Thickness (Fe2O3/Na3AlF6/Fe2O3/Cu, Al, Cr 다층박막의 광학적 두께에 따른 광학특성)

  • Multi-layered thin films of $Fe_2O_3/Na_3AlF_6/Fe_2O_3/Cu$, Cr, Al were deposited on glass substrate by evaporation process. As high and low refractive index material, $Fe_2O_3$ and $Na_3AlF_6$ were selected and additionally Cu, Al and Cr were chosen as mid reflective layer respectively. Optical properties including reflectance were systematically studied depending on optical thickness of $Na_3AlF_6$ especially $0.25{\lambda}$ and $0.5{\lambda}$. In order to expect the experimental result, the simulation program, the Essential Macleod Program(EMP) was adopted and compared with the experimental data. Based on the results taken by spectrophotometer at viewing angle $45^{\circ}C$, the $Fe_2O_3/Na_3AlF_6/Fe_2O_3/Cu$ show the colour rage between red and orange in $0.25{\lambda}$ and green and pupple in $0.5{\lambda}$ respectively. When the Al was used as mid reflective layers in $Fe_2O_3/Na_3AlF_6/Fe_2O_3$ system, typical yellow colour and mixed colour between green and pupple were appeared in $0.25{\lambda}$ and $0.5{\lambda}$ of $Na_3AlF_6$ respectively. As compared the experimental result to simulation data, it was found out that the experimental data is relatively well matched with the EMP simulation data.
