  • In the present study, a numerical analysis on electrohydrodynamics (EHD) of the flow and the collection mechanisms inside a electrostatic precipitator with a spiral spike electrode were investigated. The phenomena of the electrostatic precipitator include complex interactions between the electric field, the fluid flow and the particle motion. To validate the numerical method, the numerical computation for the electric field of a simple wire-pipe type electrostatic system having an analytic solution were performed. Using this numerical method, the electric field of the spiked electrostatic precipitator was simulated. And the fluid flow and the particle motion inside the spiked electrostatic precipitator were numerically analyzed.

  • 발전사업자는 한국전력거래소(KPX)의 급전지령을 원활히 수행하기 위해 EMS(Energy Management System) RTU를 설치하고 있다. 한국수자원공사는 수력발전소에 전기판넬 형식의 EMS RTU 대신 컴퓨터 기반의 가상(Virtual) EMS RTU를 설치하여 기존의 RTU방식에 비하여 설비 면적을 대폭 줄였으며, 설비 변동에 따른 감시제어 데이터의 수정시 하드웨어적인 작업을 소프트웨어적으로 간단하게 처리할 수 있다. 그래서 가상 EMS RTU는 발전통합운영시스템(GIOS)을 실시간으로 운영, 감시하여 장애를 신속히 복구함으로써 중앙급전소 발전기 원격운전 응답 특성을 향상시켜 전력계통의 안정적인 운영에 크게 기여하고 있다.

  • A well defined electro-spraying and electro-static precipitator(ESP) experiment is carried out to investigate the charging characteristics of the submicron particles and the monodisperse particles. The basic idea is that the highly charged electro-sprayed droplets will be produced into the gas when the Coulombic repulsive force on the surface is higher than the surface tension of the spraying liquid. During this process many highly charged smaller droplets or ions, if the droplets are completely dried out, will be produced in the space. These charged species will be attached ion the particles and then eventually charge the particles. These charged particles will be easily collected with ESP. The experimental results show that the atomizer generated particles with geometric mean diameter (GMD) of 62nm are charged more than 90% even at the mean face velocity of 2.5m/s at the charging zone.

  • An experimental study was performed to investigate the liquid breakup and atomization characteristics in electrohydrodynamic atomization according to the changing of experimental parameters such as nozzle size, fluid flow, and electrical intensity. An original electrohydrodynamic atomizer equipment was designed and manufactured for the analysis of spray visualization and the exploration of relationship between applied power and the behavior of liquid atomization. The image processing technique by using the back-illumination method was applied to visualize the distilled liquid breakup process and to examine the variation of the droplet size distribution. The results show that the spray modes of electrohydrodynamic atomization are closelyconnected by the strength of the electric stresses at the surface of the liquid film and the kinetic energy of the liquid jet leaving the needle tip.

  • 해양에너지는 자원량이 무한하고 무공해이기 때문에 미래의 중요한 대체에너지의 하나로 그 역할이 기대되고 있다. 세계적으로 파력, 조력, 해류, 해상풍력 등의 신재생에너지 이용 방안이 지속적으로 연구개발 되고 있다. 이중 파력은 모든 해역에 폭넓게 분포하므로 가용 에너지원이 풍부하고 설치 해역 또한 광범위하여 우리나라의 연안 해역에 대규모로 활용이 가능하다. 본 연구는 이와같은 파랑에너지를 이용하여 전기로 변환하는 파력 발전용 횡류형터빈의 개발을 하고자 한다.
