  • In this paper, we analyze theoritically the propagation and radiation characteristics for elliptical corrugated waveguides. The solutions of wave equations in an elliptic cylinder system are obtained in terms of Mathieu functions of 1st and 2nd kind. The electromagnetic fields in the elliptical corrugated waveguide can be represented by series and products of angular and radial Mathieu functions. By using impedence matching at the boundary between the inner region and the slot region, characteristic equations are derived. Then the characteristic equation is solved for $HE_{11}$ mode which is dominant mode in the elliptical corrugated waveguide and the fields in the aperture is calculated. And the propagation pattern for the elliptical corrugated waveguides is calculated through the field equivalence principle.

  • This paper proposes a private display that can adjust viewing angles by using an electric-field-driven (EFD) LC Lens. The EFD LC Lens design and simulation were analyzed by using the Extended Jones Matrix Method. The conventional method for attaching a private film to the display was difficult. In order to solve this problem, in this study, by using the EFD LC Lens, we devised a method that can view images more conveniently. We analyzed the luminance and illumination of the optical viewing distance by using the Extended Jones Matrix Method. We also measured the intensity of the viewing angles. The simulation attached the EFD LC Lens to the 14" Full HD RGB stripe wide panel. We calculated the relative luminance distribution and the luminance distribution on the viewing angle of the image at the optimum viewing distance of 60 cm, using the EFD LC Lens and the lenticular lens. The proposed method could be used to design private displays that can adjust the viewing angle of the EFD LC Lens.

  • The analytical model for the induced Hall field in the magnetotransistor considering the diffusion of carriers has been proposed and verified by experiment and simulation. Previous models for the induced Hall field in the magnetotransistor do not consider the influence of the diffusion carrier transport. However, the carrier diffusion in the base region of magnetotransistors cannot be neglected and should be considered to evaluated the Hall field in the magnetotransistors accurately. We have measured the Hall voltage in the base region of the fabricated magnetotransistors. The measured values have been compared with the numerical results evaluated from our diffusion model as well as the calculated results from the conventional model. The evaluated Hall voltage from the diffusion model agrees well with the measured values while the sign of the Hall voltage calculated by the conventional model is opposite to that of the measured values in the saturation region. This discrepancy is due to the fact that the diffusion model considers the carrier diffusion while the conventional one does not. The Hall field model including the influence of carrier diffusion may be an important tool to optimize the device structure and to understand the operating principle of the magnetotransistor.

  • We proposed to a new method of the aperture coupled microstrip antenna with T-shaped feeding slot. We analyzed method of enhancing the bandwidth of the antenna using FDTD. And the antenna parameters are optimized to get maximum bandwidth. We also calculated the progress process of waves and the distribution of electric field in the time domain. We also calculated return loss, VSWR, input impedance, radiation pattern in the frequency domain by Fourier transforming the time domain results, respectively. It was found that the bandwidth of this antenna changes length and width of the patch, length and width of the slot, length of T-shaped feedline, position of the offset. Measured % bandwidth was 49.2 % in the center frequency 2.5 GHz. These results were in relatively food accordance with calculated values.

  • In this thesis, characteristics of compact PIFA are analyzed for operation in dual frequencies (dual-PIFA) as variety of parameters. The antenna is composed of two patches. These are operated in high frequency and low frequency. The dimension of experiential antenna is fixed for attaching at the handset. The variable parameters are dimension of small patch, length of shorting strip and dimension of folded conductor plate, the frequencies are 900 MHz and 1800 MHz. The compact antenna is implemented with 2-layer type, electric field intensities and radiation patterns are simulated. In order to analyze characteristics of a performance as variety of parameters, FDTD method is used.

  • In an insulating dielectric liquid such as transformer oil, space charge injection and propagation were analyzed under the Fowler-Nordheim and Richardson-Dushman's thermal emission charge injection conditions for blade-plane electrodes stressed by a step voltage. The governing equations were composed of all five equations such as the Poisson's equation for electric fields, three continuity equations for electrons, negative, and positive ions, and energy balanced equation for temperature distributions. The governing equations for each carrier, the continuity equations, belong to the hyperbolic-type PDE of which the solution has a step change at the space charge front resulting in numerical instabilities. To decrease these instabilities, the governing equations were solved simultaneously by the Finite Element Method (FEM) employing the artificial diffusion scheme as a stabilization technique. Additionally, the terminal current was calculated by using the generalized energy method which is based on the Poynting's theorem, and represents more reliable and stable approach for evaluating discharge current. To verify the proposed method, the discharge phenomena were successfully applied to the blade~plane electrodes, where the radius of blade cap was $50{\mu}m$.

  • To solve aeolian noise, we have tried several special conductor bundles equipped with spiral rod and one kind of low aeolian noise conductor with a special shape. Charge simulation method was applied to analyze electric field distributions of them in transmission line and corona cage for investigating the corona characteristics. This paper describes the electric field distributions and the performances of audible noise and radio interference from the special bundles in 765 kV transmission line by using corona characteristics obtained from corona cage simulation.

  • This paper shows the simulation of electric field distribution and removal characteristics of Escherichia coli for water discharge tube with globular $SiO_2$. At the experiments of the removing Escherichia coli used the discharge tube with globular dielectric($SiO_2$), because the electric field is increased when applied voltage is increased, the removed ratio of Escherichia coli was related with increasing of applied voltage. When a passing number of test water in water discharge tube is increased, the removed ratio of Escherichia coli is increased because passing number of territory with electric field is increased. When diameter of globular dielectric($SiO_2$) is increased, the removed time of Escherichia coli was decreased because electric field for dielectric polarization of globular dielectric($SiO_2$) was increased. Also, the removed ratio of Escherichia coli of the water discharge tube with globular dielectric($SiO_2$) was measured higher than the removal ratio of the discharge tube without globular dielectric($SiO_2$)

  • The purpose of this paper is to present the aperture cut-off filter for reduction of electromagnetic field penetration through a slot in conducting screen. The reduction characteristics of electric field penetration by the aperture cut-off filter are considered. In order to establish the concept of the aperture cut-off filter, the integral equation on the slot aperture field distribution is derived and solved by method of moments, and the reduction characteristics of penetration electric fields for the incident plane wave are calculated. The numerical results showed that the aperture cut-off filter for reduction of electric field penetration through the slot can be realized. To check the validity of the concept of an aperture cut-off filter and the theoretical analysis, the calculated electric field penetration of the metallic wall with narrow slot were compared with the experimental results.

  • The bandwidth of microstrip slot antenna with T-shaped feed line was a wider than one of the conventional feeding structure. When the slot antenna with bi-directional radiator wants to radiate only one direction, the reflector must be set up seperately. But this antenna doesn't need set up reflector. And then we proposed to a new method of a directional slot radiator with a cross-shaped feedline including the reflector using 2-layers dielectric materials. It is calculated waves and electric field distribution in the time domain by using FDTD method. We also are calculated return loss, VSWR, input impedance, and radiation pattern in the frequency domain by Fourier transforming the time domain results, respectively. It was found that the bandwidth of this antenna changes as length($\I_s$) and width($\W_s$) of slot, length of the horizontal feedline($\I_d$), length of the vertical feedline($\I_u$) and offset sensitively. After optimizing the parameters of design, the maximum bandwidth was measured as 1,850MHz at the center frequency 2.5 GHz.
