COMPARISON OF SHAPING ABILITY OF ROTARY Ni-Ti FILE SYSTEMS USED BY UNDERGRADUATES (학생들이 사용한 엔진 구동형 Ni-Ti file systems의 근관 성형 효율 비교)

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the shaping ability of three Ni-Ti file systems used by dental students or the experts and consequently to aid in choosing a proper systems for educational courses of dental students and beginners. Fifty students and ten dentists who have clinical experience over two years prepared 180 simulated root canals in resin blocks with three Ni-Ti systems; $ProFile^{(R)}\;(PF),\;HeroShaper^{(R)}\;(HS),\;K3^{TM}\;(K3)$. After preparation, the Ni-Ti files were evaluated for distortion and canal preparation time was recorded. The images of pre- and post-instrumented canals were scanned and superimposed. Amounts of increased canal widths, deviation, and centering ratio were calculated at apical 1, 3 and 5 mm levels and statistical analysis was performed The results were as follows : 1. HS showed the shortest preparation time and instrumented canal width in K3 was significantly larger than other groups (P<0.05). 2. At 1 and 3mm levels, all groups had outward deviation. In student group, at the 1mm level, PF had the least deviation (P<0.05). 3. In the centering ratio, the PF had the best centering ability compared to the others at 5mm level. At 1 and 3mm levels, HS and PF had better abilities than K3. Student group had better ratio than the expert at 3mm level with PF (P<0.05). Based on the results, it is surmised that the $ProFile^{(R)}$ is the safest and most ideal instrument for students and beginners.

REPLACEMENT OF POSTERIOR RESTORATIONS (구치부 수복물의 재수복에 관한 연구)

  • This article complies a survey on the replacement of the posterior restorations and accesses possible factors that influence the replacement of posterior restorations. The data was collected from patients that visited department of conservative dentistry from Dec 1st 2003, to Sep 3rd 2004. Teeth was restricted to posterior permanent teeth. 9 dentists recorded age, gender of patients, tooth location, cavity farm and restorative material. They rated marginal adaptation, anatomic form, secondary caries of old restoration by modified Ryge criteria system. The statistical analysis was performed with Chi square test (p < 0.05) for replacement ratio according to patients, tooth factor and One way ANOVA was performed for comparison of old restoration according to restorative material. The results were as follows; 1. The female (62%) was statistically higher ratio than the male (38%). 2. The distribution of replacement case according to age, the rate of replacement was in descending order, 20's (38.3%), 40's (16.8%), 30's (15.9%), 10's (11.1%), 50's (9.2%), 60's (8.7%). 3. The rate of replacement was 88% for molar and 12% for premolar (p $gt; 0.05). 4. The rate of replacement was 39% for maxillar and 61% for mandible (p $gt; 0.05). 5. The material of restorations was amalgam (69%), gold inlay (17%), composite resin (13%). 6. In rating system by modified Ryge criteria system on margin adaptation, there was statistically significant difference between amalgam and gold inlay. But on anatomic form and caries, there was no statistically significant difference among the material of restorations.

Forward/Reverse Engineering Approaches of Java Source Code using JML (JML을 이용한 Java 원시 코드의 역공학/순공학적 접근)

  • Based upon XML, a standard document format on the web, there have been many active studies on e-Commerce, wireless communication, multimedia technology and so forth. JML is an XML application suitable for understanding and reusing the source code written using JAVA for various purposes. And it is a DTD which can effectively express various information related to hierarchical class structures, class/method relationships and so on. This paper describes a tool which generates JML document by extracting a comment information from Java source code and information helpful for reusing and understanding by JML in terms of the reverse engineering and a tool which generates a skeleton code of Java application program from the document information included in the automatically or manually generated JML document in terms of the forward engineering. By using the result of this study, the information useful and necessary for understanding, analyzing or maintaining the source code can be easily acquired and the document of XML format makes it easy for developers and team members to share and to modify the information among them. And also, the Java skeleton coed generated form JML documents is a reliable robust code, which helps for developing a complete source code and reduces the cost and time of a project.

A New Selective Medium for the Isolation and the Detection of Leuconostocs in Foodstuffs (식품중에 함유된 Leuconostocs 균주의 새로운 선택배지 개발)

  • To develop a selective medium for the isolation and the detection of leuconostocs from the various samples including fermented vegetables, ten strains of leuconostocs and seven strains of lactobacilli were tested for their sensitivity to various antibiotics. The basal-medium containing 5 ${\mu}g/ml$ of novobiocin inhibited the growth of lactobacilli completely, but not that of leuconostocs. On the basis of this result, a new selective medium was developed and to be named NLS medium. This medium contains 1% Tryptone (Difco), 0.1% Yeast Extract (Difco), 2% sucrose, 0.1% Beef Extract (BBL), 0.5% sodium acetate, 0.2% ammonium sulfate, 0.01% magnesium sulfate, 0.2% dipotassium phosphate, 0.05% sorbic acid, 75 ppm sodium azide (Sigma), 0.1% (vol/vol) Tween 80, 30 ${\mu}g/ml$ of Vancomycin (Sigma), 5${\mu}g/ml$ of Novobiocin (Sigma), 0.5${\mu}g/ml$ of cysteine HCI, and 1.5% Agar (Difco). All of the eighty six isolates obtained from some foodstuffs were identified as members of the genus Leuconostoc. Comparative counts with the MRS, PES, LUSM, and NLS medium indicated that the recovery percent was lower than other selective media. Therefore, this result suggested that NLS medium was suitable for the isolation of leuconostocs, but not for counting or enumerating.

발효온도가 진양주의 품질특성에 미치는 영향

  • 전통주의 계승발전을 위해 전통주의 개선과 재현의 필요성이 높아짐에 따라 지난날 맛 좋았던 우리의 전통주의 연구와 개발이 활발히 진행되고 있다. 또한 최근 미곡의 과잉생산으로 인한 과잉쌀 생산에 대한 수요체 창출을 위한 쌀가공품의 개발이 매우 시급한 실정이다. 최근 알콜농도가 낮은 술을 선호하는 경향과 전통주의 특수한 풍미로 인하여 현재 전통주는 많은 사람들로부터 각광을 받고 있어서 현재 몇몇 지역에서 민속주와 토속주가 허가되어 시판되고 있다. 진양주는 전남 해남지역의 전통민속주로서 해남지역에서 생산되는 찹쌀을 원료로 하여 상온에서 발효시키는 독특한 방법으로 제조되는데 이 진양주는 발효과정에서 외부환경의 영향을 많이 받게 된다. 그중 외부온도는 진양주의 품질에 직접적인 영향을 미치게 되는데 아직까지는 진양주제조과정에서 최적발효온도에 대한 연구는 보고된 것이 없다. 본 연구에서는 발효온도를 2$0^{\circ}C$$25^{\circ}C$로 하였을 때 발효과정에서 술의 품온, pH, 당도, 알콜함량, 총산의 변화를 조사하였으며 관능검사를 통하여 종합적인 기호도를 평가하여 최적의 발효온도를 탐색하고자 했다. 발효과정에서 술의 품온은 온도계를 사용하여 측정하였고 pH는 pH-meter로 측정하였으며 당도는 당도계를 이용하여 측정하였다. 알콜함량과 총산은 국세청의 주류분석규정에 따라 증류법과 중화적정법을 사용하여 측정하였다. 관능검사는 식품공학과 대학원생과 학부생 10명을 대상으로 종합적인 기호도에 대하여 5단계 평점법으로 실시하였다. 2$0^{\circ}C$에서 발효시 품온은 20.2~23.8$^{\circ}C$사이에서, $25^{\circ}C$에서 발효시 품온은 25.2$^{\circ}C$~28.2$^{\circ}C$사이에서 변화되었고 pH는 2$0^{\circ}C$ 발효시 3.47~4.62 사이에서, $25^{\circ}C$ 발효시 pH는 3.28~4.65사이에서 변화되었고 최종 pH는 2$0^{\circ}C$에서 발효시 3.71로써 $25^{\circ}C$ 발효시 3.58보다 높았다. 최종당도는 2$0^{\circ}C$, $25^{\circ}C$ 발효시 각각 10.2。Brix와 8.4。Brix 였고 알콜농도는 2$0^{\circ}C$발효시 13.8%로 $25^{\circ}C$ 발효시 14.8% 낮았으며 총산은 2$0^{\circ}C$ 발효시 1.32%로 $25^{\circ}C$ 발효시 1.62%보다 낮게 나타났다. 관능검사를 통한 종합적인 기호도는 2$0^{\circ}C$에서 발효시킨 진양주가 4.2로써 $25^{\circ}C$에 발효시킨 진양주 3.5보다 높은 것으로 나타났다. 관능검사시 $25^{\circ}C$에서 발효한 진양주는 신맛이 많이 난다는 결과로 볼 때 최종 pH가 3.58로 낮고 총산이 1.62%로 높아서 나온 결과라고 생각된다. 결론적으로 진양주를 제조할 시 발효온도는 2$0^{\circ}C$가 발효온도 $25^{\circ}C$보다 더 적합하다고 생각된다.

Isolation and Partial Physicochemical Characterization of Bile Acid-Binding Fraction from Rice Bran Protein Hydrolysates (미강 단백질 가수분해물에서 담즙산 결합 획분의 분리 및 특성구명)

  • Rice bran protein hydrolysates were prepared and some of their physicochemical properties were investigated to utilize rice bran as starting material for functional food ingredient. Rice bran proteins (RBP) were prepared from defatted rice bran by alkaline extraction and isoelectric precipitation. The enzyme for hydrolysis of RBP was selected through measuring relative activity by pH-drop method and comparing the degree of hydrolysis (DH) of hydrolysates. The enzymatic hydrolysates prepared by $Esperase^{\circledR}$ treatment were partitioned into two fractions by ultrafiltration(UF) with a 10 kDa molecular weight cut-off membrane. Each fraction was applied to a cholic acid-conjugated ${\omega}-aminohexyl$ Sepharose 4B column and the bile acid-binding components were obtained by eluting with deoxycholate. Gel permeation chromatography on a Sephadex G-50 column revealed that molecular weight of the bile acid-binding fraction of UF permeate was distributed in ranges of $2\;kDa{\sim}10\;kDa$ and $0.2\;kDa{\sim}0.6\;kDa$. Three peaks (R-1, R-2 and R-3) were obtained by prep-HPLC of bile acid-binding fraction of UF retentate and analyzed for total and free amino acid composition. The results showed that proline content of the bile-acid binding polypeptides and peptides was four times as much as that of rice bran protein and that the peak corresponding to higher average hydrophobicity had a higher free amino acid content. Average hydrophobicity slightly increased with enzymatic hydrolysis.

Analysis of Functional Components of Leaves of Different Mulberry Cultivars (뽕잎 품종별 기능성 성분 분석)

  • Quantification of functional components, such as [l -deoxynojirimycin (DNJ), ${\gamma}$-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and flavonoids] of four different cultivars (YK-209, Cheongil, Yongchon and Kaeryang) and parts (upper, middle and lower) of mulberry leaves harvested in different areas and periods was performed by HPLC to select the best Quality of mulberry leaf suitable for manufacture of functional foods. Among four mulberry cultivars, YK-209 mulberry leaf had the highest DNJ, GABA and flavonoids levels. YK-209 mulberry leaf harvested in "Yeongcheon" area had greater DNJ, GABA and flavonoid contents than those harvested in "Sangju" area. Four major flavonoids of mulberry leaf were rutin, isoquercitrin, kaempferol-3-Ο-rutinoside, astragalin, and their levels varied greatly with cultivars. YK-BO9 mulberry leaf had the highest flavonoids content among four cultivars. DNJ, GABA and flavonoid contents of young YK-209 mulberry leaf were relatively higher in the upper part than those in the middle and lower parts. Additionally, levels of DNJ, GABA and flavonoids were higher in mulberry leaves harvested in the eariler growing season (May) than in the late growing seasons (June and August) . Particularly, among four flavonoids, rutin content had the highest in the mulberry leaf harvested in May, while isoquercitrin content did the highest in the mulberry leaf harvested in June and August. These results suggest that YK-209 mulberry leaf having high amount of functional components, such as DNJ, GABA and flavonoids, may be useful as potential source of beverages and tablets.verages and tablets.

Study on Local Path Control Method based on Beam Modeling of Obstacle Avoidance Sonar (장애물회피소나 빔 모델링 기반의 국부경로제어 기법 연구)

  • Recently, as the needs of developing the micro autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) are increasing, the acquisition of the elementary technology is urgent. While they mostly utilizes information of the forward looking sonar (FLS) in conventional studies of the local path control as an elementary technology, it is desirable to use the obstacle avoidance sonar (OAS) because the size of the FLS is not suitable for the micro AUV. In brief, the local path control system based on the OAS for the micro AUV operates with the following problems: the OAS offers low bearing resolution and local range information, it requires the system that has reduced power consumption to extend the mission execution time, and it requires an easy design procedure in terms of its structures and parameters. To solve these problems, an intelligent local path control algorithm based on the beam modeling of OAS with the evolution strategy (ES) and the fuzzy logic controller (FLC), is proposed. To verify the performance and analyze the characteristic of the proposed algorithm, the course control of the underwater flight vehicle (UFV) is performed in the horizontal plane. Simulation results show that the feasibility of real application and the necessity of additional work in the proposed algorithm.

A Case Study for Applying Linear Programming to Analyze The Effects of The Desired Future Conditions for Forest Functions on Forest Management (산림기능별 목표임상 조건이 산림경영에 미치는 영향분석을 위한 선형계획기법 적용 연구)

  • In this study, linear programming was applied to a case study in Gwangreung Experimental Forest of Korea Forest Research Institute investigating the effect of the desired future conditions on forest management. Considering the social, economic and ecological demands of people from the forest, the forest functions were classified into four including natural conservation, timber production, water yield and scenic conservation. The forest land areas were divided into four-types of forest functional zones and forest management prescriptions including the desired future conditions by the forest function type were established. The Model II linear programming was used in optimizing the forest management planning. The model includes management policies, as the constraints, for non-declining yield, allowable cutting area, allowable % age class distribution and allowable % species allocation as well as the land and other accounting regimes. Maximization of timber production was used the objective function. Based on the Model II formulations, the effects of the desired future conditions by the forest function type on forest management planning were investigated in terms of timber production, net present value and stand structures over time.

Sapflow of Two Poplars under Swine wastewater Irrigation (양돈폐수 처리할 때 포플러의 수액이동)

  • We examined sapflow of two populus tree species (Populus alba ${\times}$ Populus glandulosa and Populus euramericana) grown under Swine wastewater treatment, and measured relationship between sapflow and climate facters. Sapflow of P. euramericana was 1.5 times greater than that of P. alba ${\times}$ P. glandulosa from September to late December 2007. However, sapflow of P. euramericana and P. alba ${\times}$ P. glandulosa was similar after late January. The relationship between the mean temperature and sapflow was relatively high. There was a decrease in sapflow tendency of the two poplar species during the late October when the mean temperature was low. Trends on relationship between the relative humidity and sapflow showed low relationship. However, data showed weak relationship between sapflow and precipitation. During the period of less precipitation, sapflow of P. alba ${\times}$ P. glandulosa has no relationship. Sapflow of two populus species was still active during non-growing season. P. euramericana was considered as a better species than P. alba ${\times}$ P. glandulosa, in terms of phytoremediation.
