Stock Assessment and Management Implications of the Korean aucha perch (Coreoperca herzi) in Freshwater: (2) Estimation of Potential Yield Assessment and Stock of Coreoperca herzi in the Mid-Upper System of the Seomjin River (담수산 어류 꺽지 (Coreoperca herzi)의 자원 평가 및 관리 방안 연구: 섬진강 중.상류 수계에서 꺽지의 자원량 및 잠재생산량 추정 (2))

  • The study sought to determine the efficient management of Korean aucha perch by estimating the potential yield (PY), which means the maximum sustainable yield (MSY) based on the optimal stock, in the mid-upper region of the Seomjin River watershed from August 2008 to April 2009. The stock assessment was conducted by the swept area method and PY was estimated by a modified fisheries management system based on the allowable biological catch. Also, the yield-per-recruit analysis (Beverton and Holt, 1957) was used to review the efficient management of resource, Coreoperca herzi. The age at first capture ($t_c$) was 1.464 age and converted body length was 7.8 cm. Concerning current fishing intensities, the instantaneous coefficient of fishing mortality (F) was estimated to be 0.061 $year^{-1}$; yield-per-recruit analysis estimated the current yield per recruit as 4.124 g with F and $t_c$. The fishing mortality of Allowable Biological Catch ($F_{ABC}$) based on the current $t_c$ and F was estimated to be 0.401 $year^{-1}$, therefore, the optimum fishing intensities could be achieved at the higher fishing intensity for Coreoperca herzi. The calculated annual stock of Coreoperca herzi was 3,048 kg, the potential yield was estimated to be 861 kg with $t_c$ and $F_{ABC}$ at the fixed current level. Using yield-per-recruit analysis, if F and $t_c$ were set at 0.643 $year^{-1}$ and 3 age, respectively, the yield per recruit would be predicted to increase 3.4-fold, from 4.12 g to 13.84 g.

Performance Characteristics of Agitated Bed Manure Composting and Ammonia Removal from Composting Using Sawdust Biofiltration System (교반식 축분 퇴비화 및 톱밥 탈취처리 시스템의 퇴비화 암모니아 제거 성능)

  • Sawdust biofiltration is an emerging bio-technology for control of ammonia emissions including compost odors from composting of biological wastes. Although sawdust is widely used as a medium for bulking agent in composting system and for microbial attachment in biofiltration systems, the performance of agitated bed composting and sawdust biofiltration are not well established. A pilot-scale composting of hog manure amended with sawdust and sawdust biofiltration systems for practical operation were investigated using aerated and agitated rectangular reactor with compost turner and sawdust biofilter operated under controlled conditions, each with a working capacity of approximately $40m^3\;and\;4.5m^3$ respectively. These were used to investigate the effect of compost temperature, seed germination rate and the C/N ratio of the compost on ammonia emissions, compost maturity and sawdust biofiltration performance. Temperature profiles showed that the material in three runs had been reached to temperature of 55 to $65^{\circ}C$ and above. The ammonia concentration in the exhaust gas of the sawdust biofilter media was below the maximum average value as 45 ppm. Seed germination rate levels of final compost was maintained from 70 to 93% and EC values of the finished compost varied between 2.8 and 4.8 ds/m, providing adequate conditions for plant growth.

Technical Development of Korean Type Hot sauce (한국식 핫소스의 제조기술 개발)

  • To develope a manufacturing process of the Korean type hot sauce, ingredients and chemical components of the imported hot sauces were investigated. The major ingredients of the imported hot sauce were chili, vinegar and salt. Chemical analysis of the imported hot sauce showed: moisture; 44.73-95.66%, total nitrogen; 0.11-1.06%, reducing sugar; 0.03-3.18%, crude fiber; 0.42-2.51%, salt; 0.87-10.44%, pH; 3.22-4.05, titratable acidity; 1.18-3.62%, capsanthin; 0.44-1.06% and capsaicin; 2.40-4.28 mg%. With the red pepper powder and/or kochujang, 20 Korean type hot sauces were prepared. Chemical analysis of the Korean type hot sauce showed: moisture; 53.07-78.30%, total nitrogen; 0.34-0.68%, reducing sugar; 1.60-4.34%, curde fiber; 1.31-2.54%, salt; 4.07-5.56%, pH; 3.37-2.54, titratable acidity; 1.15-3.06%, capsanthin; 0.11-1.36% and capsaicin; 0.55-1.42 mg%. Chemical components except capsaicin of the Korean type hot sauce were similar to those of the imported one. As the results of sensory evaluation on the 20 Korean type hot sauces with red pepper powder and/or kochujang developed, three Korean type hot sauces were finally selected. As compared with Sriracha hot sauce, an imported hot sauce, the Korean type hot sauces were evaluated to be superior to the imported one.

Studies on Requirements of Optimum Dietary Essential Fatty Acids in Juvenile Eel, Anguilla japonica (치어기 뱀장어의 사료내 필수지방산 요구량에 관한 연구)

  • The present study was conducted to evaluate dietary requirements for essential fatty acids (EFAs) such as linoleic acid (LA, l8:2n-6), -lenolenic acid (LNA, 18:3n-3), or docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, 22:6n-3), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA, 20:5n-3) and arachidonic acid (ARA, 20:4n-6) in juvenile eel Anguilla japonica cultured in a recirculating system for 16 weeks. The experimental diets contained 50% crude protein, 10% crude lipid and 3800 kcal/kg energy.Brown fish meal and blood meal were used as the main protein sources, while coconut oil, com oil and linseed oil were used as the lipid source to yield target fatty acids ratios. At the end of the trial, the effects of essential fatty acids supplementation on weight gain (WG), specific growth rate (SGR), feeding efficiency (FE), proximate composition andwhole body fatty acids contents were examined. WG, SGR, and FEof eels fed diet D2, D3, was significantly higher (P<0.05) than those of fish fed the other diets. Whole body HUFA concentration of eels fed D 1 was significantly lower (P<0.05) than those fed the other diets. HUFA/SFA (saturated fatty acids) ratio of whole body in eels fed diets D2, D3 and D6 were significantly higher than that of eels fed diet D1 (P<0.05).DHA/EPA ratio of whole body in eels fed diet D7was significantly higher than those fed the other diets; and eels fed diet D5 showed the lowest DHA/EPA ratio among all the dietary treatments (P<0.05).Based on the experimental results, we concluded that LNA (n-3) and LA (n-6) were necessary for optimum growth of juvenile eel, and the dietary requirement of LNA and LA were 0.35∼0.5% and 0.5∼0.65%, respectively.

Hydrolysis Methods for the Efficient Manufacture of Sugar Solutions from the Freshwater Alga Water-net (Hydrodictyon reticulatum) (담수조류 그물말로부터 당 용액의 효율적 제조를 위한 가수분해 방법)

  • To explore hydrolysis methods for the efficient manufacture of sugar solutions from the freshwater alga Water-net (Hydrodictyon reticulatum, HR), acid hydrolysis, enzymatic hydrolysis, and combined hydrolysis (acid followed by enzymatic hydrolysis) were investigated. In the one-step acid hydrolysis, the reaction of 8% solids content using 2% sulfuric acid at $120^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour was desirable. In this case, glucose 27.44 g 100 g $DM^{-1}$ could be obtained from the HR-d13 samples. In the two-step acid hydrolysis, the primary hydrolysis (HR powder : 72% sulfuric acid = 1 g : 1.5 mL) was carried out for 1 hour at $60^{\circ}C$, and then the secondary hydrolysis was done for 1 hour at $120^{\circ}C$ after addition of distilled water 23.5 mL. In this case, glucose 35.11 g/100 g DM could be obtained from the HR-d13 samples. In the combined hydrolysis, 25% solids content using 2% hydrochloric acid were reacted for 1 hour at $120^{\circ}C$, and then citrate buffer and hydrolysis enzyme complexes (E1 1.0 mL+E2 0.2 mL $g^{-1}$ dried matter) were added and reacted for 1 - 2 days at $50^{\circ}C$. In this case, glucose 33.5 g 100 g $DM^{-1}$ could be obtained from the HR-d23+26 samples. In conclusion, combined hydrolysis was likely to be more useful saccharification method of HR biomass at a practical level, considering the glucose productivity, generation of fermentation-inhibiting substances (hydroxyl methyl furfural, furfural), and limited use of strong acid.

  • 컴퓨터와 첨단영상매체의 발달로 디자인 분야에서도 컴퓨터를 사용하여 색을 자유롭게 선택할 수 있는 그래픽 소프트웨어가 도입되고 있으나 영상정보의 색채 재현성과 영상입출력 장치의 다양화로 인한 색채 불일치에 대한 문제들이 극복해야할 시급한 과제로 부각되고 있다. 따라서, 색채 영상정보 입출력장치의 색채구현 성능과 인간의 색채인지 원리이론을 바탕으로 색보정 알고리즘이 발전하여 색보정 엔진의 개발이 국제적으로 활발히 진행되고 있는 연구 분야임에도 불구하고 국내에서는 그 연구사례가 상대적으로 극히 미비한 실정이며, 더욱이, CAD 시스템을 이용한 패션/텍스타일 디자인 분야에서는 이에 대한 연구가 거의 이루어지지 않고 있다. 본 연구에서는 염색 직물의 색을 CAD시스템을 이용하여 soft-copy로 재현하고 이것을 다시 hard-copy로 출력하여 물리적 측정치와 주관적 색채 인지도간의 일치도를 비교하고, 물리적, 주관적 색차의 한계치를 제시함으로써, 패션/텍스타일 디자인 CAD시스템 운용에 기초가 되는 자료를 제공하려 하였다. 연구의 절차는 객관적 측정과 주관적 평가 두 단계로 나누어 진행되었다 연구에 사용된 직물은 7가지 색상의 면 염직물로써, CAD시스템을 이용하여 각 직물당 5개의 soft-copy를 재현하고, 이것을 다시 hard-copy로 출력하여 spectrophotometer를 이용해 물리적 측정(ΔE, ΔL, Δc, Δh)을 실시하였다. 또한 주관적 평가에는 20명의 의류학 전공 학생들이 참여하였다. 결과 분석에는 분산분석과 Friedman분석이 사용되었다. 연구 결과 색차 측정에 대한 물리적 측정치와 1차 주관적 평가치 사이의 일치도는 90.5%로 나타났으며, 2차 주관적 평가치와의 rank order는 거의 일치하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 주관적 평가에서 피험자들은 색차인지에 있어 CIELAB 색채공간의 각각의 색요소 차이보다는 전체 색차에 더 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다.녹색콩풍뎅이의 유충에 의하여 피해를 받는 것이 확인되었다. 녹색콩풍뎅이 유충의 피해를 받은 금잔디는 황화되거나 시들음 증상이 있었고, 이듬해 봄에는 잔디의 회복이 지연되었다.ic conductivity. Recycling of Hydroponic Waste Solution for Red Pepper (Capsicum annum L.) Growth (고추재배를 위한 시설하우스 폐양액의 재활용)

  • Waste of the hydroponic solution from the plastic film house cultivation was recycled to grow the red pepper(Capsicum annum L.) in upland fields as supplement for plant nutrients and irrigation sources. Application of hydroponic waste solution increased the pH and EC of the soils, coupled with the increases in the concentrations of exchangeable cations(Ca, Mg, and K), total nitrogen, $NH_4-N,\;and\;NO_3-N$. Growth and yield of red pepper were highest when the treatment of chemical fertilizer(70%) was combined with hydroponic waste solution(30%). Amounts of the daily producing hydroponic waste solution were 2,880 L $ha^{-1}\;day^{-1}$ from the experimental facilities and this could irrigate $409.86m^2$ of area to compensate for the amount of water loss by evapotranspiration(3%). The overall results demonstrated that hydroponic waste solution could be recycled as plant nutrients and irrigation water resources for enhancing soil fertility and environmental quality.

Effect of Antioxidant Properties and Biogenic Amine Contents of Salted Mackerel by the Concentration of Enzymatic Hydrolysate from Ecklonia cava (감태 효소 가수분해물 처리농도에 따른 간고등어의 항산화 특성 및 Biogenic Amine 함량)

  • For preparation of high-quality salted mackerel using enzymatic extracts from Ecklonia cava (EEC) to process fresh mackerel caught off Jeju Island, the optimal concentration of EEC was investigated. There were no differences in proximate composition, salinity, Escherichia coli level, pH, volatile basic nitrogen content, histamine level, or peroxide value between salted mackerel samples prepared with different concentrations of EEC. However, the antiradical properties of salted mackerel, assayed by scavenging of DPPH free radicals, hydroxyl radicals, hydrogen peroxide, and alkyl radicals, increased with increasing concentrations of EEC. The optimal concentration of EEC for preparation of high-quality salted mackerel was 2% (w/w). Salted mackerel soaked in 2% (w/w) EEC was superior to commercial salted mackerel in antiradical properties, biogenic amine content, and other relevant chemical properties.

Inhibition of Penicillium Bulb Rot by Fungicides and Culture Broth of Antagonistic Bacteria during Storage of Lilium Oriental Hybrids (살균제 및 길항세균 배양액 처리에 의한 백합 저장구근의 부패 발생억제)

  • This study was conducted to find out the proper chemicals and doses for controlling the bulb disease of Lilium Oriental hybrids 'Capablanca' and 'Marco Polo' cultivars during storage, and to ascertain any disadvantage of the treatment on shoot growth and flower development. Bulbs of 'Casablanca' and 'Marco Polo' cultivars were dipped in some fungicide solutions, including azoxystrobin, benomyl+thiram, and prochloraz, and culture broth of antagonistic bacteria for one hour. The rot was apparently inhibited by azoxystrobin and prochloraz solution dippings and it was not by benomyl+thiram in bulbs produced domestically. To improve physiological integrity, calcium chloride was treated. However, this treatment had no positive effects on bulb rot of lily. When bulbs were dipped in one-fifth of diluted broth. But the bulb rot was inhibited effectively as compared with untreated during storage. Benomyl+thiram and that with calcium inhibited the sprouting in 'Casablanca' and 'Marco Polo' cultivars during cultivation. Calcium and benomyl+thiram treatments decreased growth of leaf and flower but with no statistically significant difference. Other fungicidal materials treated to bulbs showed no effect on vegetative growth and flower quality.

Quality Characteristics of Korean Wheat Bread Prepared with Substitutions of Naturally Fermented Rice Starters (쌀 천연 발효액종을 첨가한 우리밀 식빵의 품질특성)

  • In this study, rice was used with naturally fermented extract to compare and analyze the physico-chemical characteristics and investigated how to make pan bread made with domestic wheat flour added with naturally fermented rice extract. Also, it examined quality characteristics of pan breads prepared with 0, 10, 30, 50, 70% naturally fermented rice starters. As the fermentation time of rice starters increased, pH of bread doughs decreased. On farinograph, water absorption, development time and stability of rice starters samples were lower than the control. RVA(Rapid Visco Analyzer) analysis showed that wheat flour retrogradation was retarded by increasing rice starters content. The weights of pan breads containing rice starters were higher than that of control. The moisture content of pan breads containing rice starters decreased as storage time increased. In analyzing of visible mold colony during 7 days of storage at $28^{\circ}C$, pan breads containing rice starters was retarded mold growth. In the texture analyzer measurement, hardness of breads containing rice starters significantly increased as storage time increased, which was higher than that of control. The result of sensory properties was no significant difference between the group containing 50% naturally fermented rice starters and control group, such as appearance, flavor, taste and overall quality.
