The antioxidant ability of nutmeg ethanolic extract in bulk oil and oil-in-water emulsion matrices (식물성 유지 및 수중유적형 유화계에서 육두구 종자 에탄올 추출물의 항산화활성 평가)

  • The antioxidant ability of 80% ethanolic extract of nutmeg seed (NM80) was evaluated using in vitro assays and bulk oil and oil-in-water (O/W) emulsion matrices. The 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging, 2,2'-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid (ABTS) cation radical scavenging, and oxygen radical antioxidant capacity (ORAC) in vitro assays were used to evaluate the antioxidant ability of the extract. The DPPH radical scavenging activities of 25, 50, 100, and 200 ㎍/mL NM80 were 12.5, 20.9, 35.1, and 62.8%, respectively, while the ABTS cation radical scavenging activities were 2.7, 6.5, 30.5, and 29.8%, respectively, demonstrating a dose-dependent effect. The ORAC value was significantly higher at an NM80 concentration of 25 ㎍/mL than the positive control (p<0.05). The conjugated dienoic acid (CDA), ρ-anisidine, and tertiary butyl alcohol values in 90-min-heated corn oil containing 200 ppm of NM80 were significantly reduced by 3.26, 16.94, and 17.34%, respectively, compared to those for the sample without NM80 (p<0.05). However, the headspace oxygen content and CDA value in the O/W emulsion containing 200 ppm of NM80 at 60℃ had 6.29 and 82.85% lower values, respectively, than those for the sample without NM80 (p<0.05). The major volatile compounds of NM80 were allyl phenoxyacetate, eugenol acetate, and eugenol. NM80 could be an effective natural antioxidant in lipid-rich foods in bulk oil or O/W emulsion matrix.

Review about Thermal Stability Reinforcing Method of the Concrete Sidewall of the LNG Storage Tank Using Sprayed PUF (스프레이 PUF를 이용한 LNG 저장탱크 외조 벽체의 열적 안정성 강화 방법에 대한 고찰)

  • LNG storage tank is a facility to store liquefied natural gas (LNG) and its safety and stability to be greatly needed. When there is a LNG leakage in case of primary container problem, a special facility such as a bund wall should be constructed to store the leaked LNG. But this method makes the land usage inefficient and construction price high. So nowadays the full containment type LNG storage tank is selected instead of constructing a bund wall. In the full containment type tank, the concrete sidewall has the ability to store LNG temporarily. There are largely two methods to give the concrete sidewall the ability. In a method, rebar should be used when constructing the side wall of the LNG storage tank. In the other method, the protecting material such as sprayed polyurethane foam should be applied on the inner surface of the concrete sidewall. Sprayed PUF keeps the temperature of the sidewall above the specified temperature during the specified periods. Recently the thermal stability reinforcing method using sprayed polyurethane foam has been applied to all LNG storage tank built in Korea.

Improvement of Storage Stability of Apple and Kiwi at Room Temperature Using Pd/ZSM-5 Catalyst and Nonthermal Plasma (Pd/ZSM-5 촉매와 저온 플라즈마를 이용한 사과와 키위의 상온 저장 안정성 향상)

  • A catalyst-plasma reactor was applied to the storage of agricultural products, e.g., apple and kiwi, to remove the ethylene generated during the storage. Two 1-m3 unit containers were prepared, and the long-term storage stability of the control group at room temperature was compared with that of the experimental group of which the produced ethylene was treated by the catalyst-plasma reactor. In case of the experimental group, a small amount of ozone was injected to the unit container to suppress the growth of microorganisms such as mold. The apples and kiwis were stored at room temperature for 50 and 57 days, respectively, and the changes in ethylene concentration, hardness, sugar content, acidity, and loss rate were compared. The ethylene concentration during the storage for the control group was higher than that for the experimental group, indicating that the ethylene was effectively removed. Hardness, sugar content, and sugar acid ratio after the storage were better than before the storage, and in particular, the storage stability of kiwifruit was improved significantly. In addition, after the storage, the loss rates of apples and kiwis in the control group were 10 and 54.1%, respectively, but the loss rates in the experimental group were 6 and 34.8%, respectively. Therefore, the storage stability of the experimental group was a lot better than that of the control group.

  • 역전파 학습 방법은 속도가 느리고, 지역 최소점으로 빠져 수렴에 실패하는 경우가 많다고 알려져 있다. 이제까지 알려진 역전파의 대체 방법들은 수렴 속도와 인자에 따른 수렴의 안정성에 대한 불균형을 해소 하는데 치중했다. 기존의 전통적인 역전파에서 발생하는 위와 같은 문제를 해결하기 위하여, 본 논문에서는 적은 용량의 저장 공간만을 요구하며 수렴이 빠르고 상대적으로 안정성이 보장되는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 이 방법은 상위연결(upper connections), 은닉층-출력층(hidden to output), 하위 연결(lower connections), 입력층-은닉층(input to hidden)에 대해 개별적으로 훈련을 시키는 교대 학습 방법을 적용한다.

  • BP 알고리즘은 지역 최소점이나 고원 문제와 같은 수렴 실패문제와 학습 속도가 느리다고 알려져 있다. 이제까지 알려진 BP 알고리즘의 대체 방법들은 수렴 속도와 인자에 따른 수렴의 안정성에 대한 불균형을 해소하는데 치중했다. 기존의 전통적인 BP 알고리즘에서 발생하는 위와 같은 문제를 해결하기 위하여, 본 논문에서는 적은 용량의 저장 공간만을 요구하며 수렴이 빠르고 상대적으로 안정성이 보장되는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 이 방법은 상위연결(upper connections), 은닉층-출력층(hidden to output), 하위연결(lower connections), 입력층-은닉층(input to hidden)에 대해 개별적으로 훈련을 시키는 분리 학습방법을 적용한다.

  • LFG는 매립된 폐기물 중 유기성분이 혐기성조건에서 미생물에 의해 분해가 되면서 발생하며, 이러한 매립지가스는 주변 지역의 자연 및 생활환경에 악영향을 미치기 때문에 소각 등의 방법으로 LFG를 처리하고 있다. 일반적으로 매립지로부터 발생하는 가스의 량은 폐기물 1톤 당 $150{\sim}250m^3$로서 매립 후 2~3년 후에 최대량이 발생하며 매립 후 20~30년 후까지 지속적으로 발생함으로 안정적인 LFG의 공급이 가능하며, 메탄함량이 50%인 경우 약 $5,000kcal/m^3$의 높은 발열량을 가지므로 대체에너지원으로 이용할 경우 환경적인 문제 해결 및 신재생에너지원으로 활용할 수 있다. LFG 자원화 할 경우 가장 안정적인 방안으로 발전 및 중질가스로 활용하는 것이나, 발전의 경우 최소 200만톤 이상의 매립용량을 갖추어야 경제적인 사업성을 확보할 수 있으며, 중질가스로 활용하는 경우 인근에 가스 수요처를 확보해야 하는 어려움이 있다. 만약 중 소규모의 매립장에서 발생하는 LFG를 안전하고 경제적인 조건으로 저장 및 수송할 수 있다면 중 소규모의 매립지에서 발생하는 LFG도 활용할 수 있을 것으로 기대되며, 안전하고 경제적인 저장과 수송기술을 통하여 발전이 아닌 중질가스로의 활용도 가능하게 될 것이다. 또한 여러 곳의 매립장에서 발생한 LFG를 한 곳으로 집중시켜 고질가스로 전환하는 설비비용을 절감할 수 있으며, 정제된 고질가스를 이용하여 발전보다 경제적인 자동차 연료나 도시가스로 활용할 수 있을 것이다. 본 연구에서는 LFG의 저장과 수송기술 중 GTS 기술을 통하여 저장과 수송에 제약이 크고 많은 비용이 소비되는 기체 상태의 에너지원을 하이드레이트화 시킴으로서 중 소규모 매립지에서 상대적으로 적은 비용으로 가스저장과 지상수송이 가능하게 할 수 있다. 본 연구의 결과로 LFG 에너지화 실증화 플랜트를 설계/제작 하였으며, 메탄+이산화탄소+물 하이드레이트 형성 실험 결과 4.56 Mpa, 277.2 K 조건에서 3시간을 한 사이클로 하는 공정운전을 가지는 것을 확인하였다. 이때 생성된 슬러리상의 하이드레이트를 고압으로 배출하여 펠릿으로 형성시켰으며, 형성된 하이드레이트 펠릿의 경우 92.27%의 메탄을 포함하는 것을 확인하였다.

Preparation and Keeping Quality of Garlic Oleoresin (마늘 Oleoresin의 제조 및 저장안정성에 관한 연구)

  • An attempt was made in this study to investigate the possibility of processing garlic into an garlic oleoresin and investigate on the storage stability of it. To obtain a garlic oleoresin, water, phosphoric acid, garlic extract, poly sorbate and KM-72 as antiform agent were mixed with lecithin, and then these mixtures were homogenized at $50{\sim}55^{\circ}C$ for $5{\sim}7\;min$, cooled down to $25^{\circ}C$, and finally mixed with TBHQ (tert-butylhydroquinone) as antioxidant and garlic essential oil. Optimum components for garlic oleoresin consisted of 1.0% garlic essential oil, 10.5% garlic extract, 10.0% poly sorbate, 0.01% KM-72, 18.0% lecithin, 0.05% TBHQ, 0.15% of phosphoric acid solution and 60.0% water. Judging from thiosulfinate and pyruvate content, and sensory evaluation, quality damage of garlic oleoresin hardly occurred at $5^{\circ}C$ but occurred considerable level at $25^{\circ}C$ during storage for 60 days.

  • The characteristics and stability of pigments produced by Monascus anka in a jar fermenter were examined The pigments produced by the mold were fractionated into four pigments, i.e., extracellular red pigment(ERP) extracellular yellow Pigment(EYP), intracellular red pigment(IRP) and intracellular yellow pigment(IYP) by the solvent fractionation method. These pigments showed characteristic absorption spectrum indicating that they were composed of different components of pigments. Each of these four pigments separated from Monascus anka were stable under ultraviolet light, fluorescent light and in dark conditions, but their color was faded rapidly under sun light. They were also very stable against temperature below 8$0^{\circ}C$, above which temperature the stability of the Pigments was decreased rapidly. Among the eight organic acids tested, tartaric and citric acids were found to be detrimental against the Monascus anka Pigments. And Cu$^{2+}$ ion showed the most deleterious effect on the color change of the pigments.s.

  • Effects of temperature and relative humidity on contents of water-soluble vitamins (vitamins $B_1,\;B_2,\;B_3,\;B_6$, and C) of two commercial tablets ("Multivitamin Dandelion" and "Chewable vitamin C") were investigated. When stored at various temperatures (25, 35, and $45^{\circ}C$) with cap, all measured vitamins were stable and degraded very slowly during 24 weeks of storage; low relative humidity (11% RH) without cap also provided stability during storage period. At higher relative humidities (75 and 100% RH), contents of all water-soluble vitamins, except vitamins $B_2\;and\;B_3$, decreased significantly at early storage period. These results showed that stability of water-soluble vitamins is highly dependent on relative humidity rather than storage temperature.

A Study on the Shape and Size Effects on the Stability of Underground Openings (지하공동의 형상과 규모가 공동의 안정성에 미치는 영향 연구)

  • In this study, the analytic solutions and numerical methods were used to estimate the shape and size effects on the stability of underground openings. The stability of underground openings was evaluated by scrutinizing the effects of the rock mass quality, the state of in-situ stresses and the lateral earth pressure coefficient on the displacement, the stress concentration and the plastic region developed in the vicinity of the openings. The analytic solutions have shown that the stress concentration factor is inversely proportional to the radius of curvature of openings. Through parametric study on the various shapes and sizes of underground openings the characteristics of the controlling factors concerned with the stability were analyzed. Then, the study was extended to the horseshoe-shaped openings commonly used for under ground storage. Through the extended study the effects of the stress ratio and the height-towidth ratio of openings on the maximum displacement and plastic region developed around the openings were estimated. The results have shorn that the height-to-width ratio of domestic storage caverns can be increased economically without stability problem, as far as the lateral earth pressure coefficient is appropriate.
