CO oxidation was performed with Cu-Mn and Cu-Zn co-precipitated catalysts as differential precipitant, metal ratio and calcination temperature. The effects of differential metal mole ratio and calcination temperature in mixed metal oxide catalyst were investigated with CO oxidation reaction. Physiochemical properties were studied by XRD, $N_2$ sorption and SEM. 2Cu-1Mn with $Na_2CO_3$ catalyst calcined at $270^{\circ}C$ has a large surface area $43m^2/g$ and the best activity for CO oxidation. $Cu_{0.5}Mn_{2.5}O_4$ in XRD peak shows the lower activity than others. The catalytic activity over the catalyst calcined $270^{\circ}C$ displayed the highest conversion, and it was better activity comparing with Pt catalysts CO conversion.
The Cu-Mn mixed oxide catalysts with different molar ratios of Cu/(Cu+Mn) prepared by co-precipitation method have been investigated in CO oxidation at $30^{\circ}C$. The catalysts used in this study were characterized by X-ray Diffraction (XRD), $N_2$ sorption, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and $H_2$-temperature programmed reduction $(H_2-TPR)$ to correlate with catalytic activities in CO oxidation. The $N_2$ adsorption-desorption isotherms of Cu-Mn mixed oxide catalysts showed a type 4 having pore range of 7-20 nm and BET surface area was increased from 17 to $205\;m^2{\cdot}g^{-1}$ with increasing of Mn content. The XPS analysis showed the surface oxidation state of Cu and Mn represented $Cu^{2+}$and the mixture of $Mn^{3+}$ and $Mn^{4+}$, respectively. Among the catalysts studied here, Cu/(Cu+Mn) = 0.5 catalyst showed the highest activity at $30^{\circ}C$ in CO oxidation and the catalytic activity showed a typical volcano-shape curve with respect to Cu/(Cu+Mn) molar ratios. The water vapor showed a prohibiting effect on the efficiency of the catalyst which is due to the competitive adsorption of carbon monoxide on the active sites of catalyst surface and finally the formation of hydroxyl group with active metals.
CuO(x)/0.3Al-0.7Ce catalysts with different CuO loadings (x = 2~20 wt%) were prepared by impregnation method and investigated the effects of CuO loadings on the low temperature CO oxidation. Of the used catalysts, the CuO(10)/0.3Al-0.7Ce catalyst showed the highest catalytic performance in the absence or presence of water vapor. In the presence of water vapor, the catalytic performance was drastically decreased, with a temperature of 50% CO conversion ($T_{50%}$) shifted to higher temperature by $50^{\circ}C$ compared to the those in dry conditions because of the competitive adsorption of water vapor on the active sites. The copper metal surface area calculated from $N_2O$-titration analysis and the oxygen capacity from CO-pulse experiments were increased with the CuO loadings and showed a maximum at 10 wt%CuO/0.3Al-0.7Ce catalyst. These trends are in good agreement with the tendency of $T_{50%}$ of the catalysts. From these characteristic aspects, it could be deduced that the catalytic performance was closely related to the oxygen capacity and the copper metallic surface area.

The generation of high-purity hydrogen from hydrocarbon fuels is essential for efficient operation of fuel cell. In general, most feasible strategies to generate hydrogen from hydrocarbon fuels consist of a reforming step to generate a mixture of $H_2$, CO, $CO_2$ and $H_2O$(steam) followed by water gas shift(WGS) and CO clean-up steps. The WGS reaction that shifts CO to $CO_2$ and simultaneously produces another mole of $H_2$ was carried out in a two-stage catalytic conversion process involving a high temperature shift(HTS) and a low temperature shift(LTS). In the WGS operation, gas emerges from the reformer is taken through a high temperature shift catalyst to reduce the CO concentration to about $3\sim4%$ followed to about 0.5% via a low temperature shift catalyst. The WGS reactor was designed and tested in this study to produce hydrogen-rich gas with CO to less than 0.5%.

The xAl-yCe oxide catalysts with different mol ratios of Al/(Al+Ce) were prepared by a co-precipitation method and Pt supported on xAl-yCe oxide catalysts were synthesized by an incipient wetness impregnation method. The catalysts were characterized by X-ray Diffraction (XRD), $N_2$ sorption, and $H_2$/CO-temperature programmed reduction ($H_2$/CO-TPR) to correlate with catalytic activities in co oxidation. Among the catalysts studied here, Pt/1Al-9Ce oxide catalyst showed the highest activity in dry and wet reaction conditions and the catalytic activity showed a typical volcano-shape curve with respect to Al/(Al+Ce) mol ratio. When the presence of 5% water vapor in the feed, the temperature of $T_{50%}$ was shifted ca. $30^{\circ}C$ to lower temperature region than that in dry condition. From CO-TPR, the desorption peak of $CO_2$ on Pt/1Al-9Ce oxide catalyst showed the highest value and well correlated the catalytic performance. It indicates that the Pt/1Al-9Ce oxide catalyst has a large amount of active sites which can be adsorbed by co and easy to supplies the needed oxygen. In addition, the amount of pentacoordinated $Al^{3+}$ sites obtained through $^{27}Al$ NMR analysis is well correlated the catalytic performance.

This study confirmed the effect of the Cu/CeO2-X catalyst on the CO oxidation activity at low temperature through the catalyst's structure and reaction characteristics. The catalyst was prepared by the wet impregnation method. Cu/CeO2_X catalysts were manufactured by loading Cu (active metal) using CeO2 (support) formed at different calcination temperatures (300-600 ℃). Manufactured Cu/CeO2_X catalysts were evaluated for the low-temperature activity of carbon monoxide. The Cu/CeO2_300 catalyst showed an activity of 90% at 125 ℃, but the activity gradually decreased as the calcination temperature of the CeO2-X and Cu/CeO2_600 catalysts showed an activity of 65% at 125 ℃. Raman, XRD, H2-TPR, and XPS analysis confirmed the physicochemical properties of the catalysts. Based on the XPS analysis, the lower the calcination temperature of the CeO2 was, the higher the unstable Ce3+ species (non-stoichiometric species) ratio became. The increased Ce3+ species formed a solid solution bond between Cu and CeO2-X, and it was confirmed by the change of the CeO2 peak in Raman analysis and the reduction peak of the solid solution structure in H2-TPR analysis. According to the result, the formation of the solid solution bond between Cu and Ce has been enhanced by the redox properties of the catalysts and by CO oxidation activity at low temperatures.
Effects of water vapor, hydrocarbons, and CO, which are inevitably included in exhaust gases of combustion, on a combined $De-NO_{x}$ process of non-thermal plasma and $NH_{3}$ SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) have been investigated. Test results showed that fast SCR reaction enhanced $De-NO_{x}$ rate under the low temperature conditions, $150{\sim}200^{\circ}C$ The present test, however, showed that the role of the fast SCR reaction can be significantly suppressed by addition of hydrocarbons in a non-thermal plasma reactor. Detailed investigation verified that such suppressed role of the fast SCR reaction could be caused by the $NO_{2}/NO_{x}$ ratio modified by aldehydes produced from hydrocarbons in a non-thermal plasma reactor. In addition, the present study was confirmed that the effects of water vapor and CO were not noticeable compared with the hydrocarbon effects.
