Three-dimensional Modeling of Transient Enhanced Diffusion (과도 증속 확산(TED)의 3차원 모델링)

  • In this paper, we report the first three-dimensional simulation result of the transient enhanced diffusion(TED) of dopants in the ion-implanted silicon by employing our 3D semiconductor process simulator, INPROS system. In order to simulate three-dimensional TED redistribution of dopants in silicon, the dopant distributions after the ion implantation was calculated by Monte Carlo(MC) method, followed by finite element(FE) numerical solver for thermal annealing. Excellent agreement between the simulated 3D profile and the SIMS data has been obtained for ion-implanted arsenic and phosphorus after annealing the boron marker layer at 75$0^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours. Our three-dimensional TED simulation could successfully explain the reverse short channel effect(RSCE) by taking the 3D point defect distribution into account. A coupled TED simulation and device simulation allows reverse short channel effect on threshold to be accurately predicted.

Behavior of Campylobacter jejuni Biofilm Cells and Viable But Non-Culturable (VBNC) C. jejuni on Smoked Duck (훈제오리에서 캠필로박터균 생물막 및 Viable But Non-Culturable(VBNC) 상태에서의 행동특성)

  • Biofilm cells and viable but non-culturable (VBNC) state may play a role in the survival of Campylobacter jejuni under unfavorable environmental conditions. The objective of this study was to investigate the behavior of C. jejuni biofilm cells and VBNC cells on smoked duck. The transfer of C. jejuni biofilm cells to smoked duck and its ability to resuscitate from biofilm and VBNC cells on smoked duck was investigated. Transfer experiments were conducted from C. jejuni biofilm cells to smoked duck after 5 min, 1 h, 3 h, and 24 h contact at room temperature, and the efficiency of transfer (EOT) was calculated. In addition, smoked duck was inoculated with C. jejuni biofilm and VBNC cells and then stored at 10, 24, 36, and $42^{\circ}C$ to examine the cells' ability to resuscitate on smoked ducks. The 5 min contact time between C. jejuni biofilm cells and smoked duck showed a higher EOT (0.92) than the 24 h contact time (EOT=0.08), and the EOT decreased as contact time increased. Furthermore, C. jejuni biofilm cells on smoked duck were not recovered at 10, 24, and $36^{\circ}C$, and C. jejuni VBNC cells were not resuscitated at $42^{\circ}C$. Although the resuscitation of C. jejuni biofilm and VBNC cells was not observed on smoked duck, microbial criteria of C. jejuni is needed in poultry and processed poultry products due to risk of its survival and low infectious dose.

  • "Manggaedduk" produced specially in Uiryeong province, Gyeongnam, Korea is manufactured by traditional method using rice powder, sweet azuki bean paste, and leaves of Smilax china (called as Manggae-leaf). Moisture content of leaves did not show significant differences bay salt and purified salt treatment. The content was lower as the salt concentration increased. Shear force was higher in leaf salted with purified salt at room temperature than that salted with bay salt. On the other hands, the force was more higher in the leaves salted with bay salt at low temperature ($4^{\circ}C$). The shear force was higher as the concentration of both salts used for salting solution increased. As storage period was extended, shear force of salted leaf was weakened. Whiteness (L) and yellowness (b) of leaves stored at room temperature were higher than those stored at $4^{\circ}C$, although the redness (a) of Hunter value was not significantly different between storage temperatures. Salt concentration influenced lightness and yellowness, color of salted leaves stored at $4^{\circ}C$ resulted in enhanced greenness as compared to the leaves stored at room temperature. Thus, this study investigated the optimal storage conditions, salting conditions and storage temperatures of Smilax china leaves.

  • Intraspecific diploid androgenesis was achieved in mud loach (Misgurnus mizolepis) by the inhibition of the first mitotic division using combined thermal treatment. A combined thermal treatment (heat shock at $40.5\;^{\circ}C$ for 120 sec followed by cold treatment at $1\;^{\circ}C$ for 45 min) applied to the 1st metaphase of cell division (28 min post insemination at $25\;^{\circ}C$) successfully recovered viable androgenetic diploidy. Mean hatching success of the androgenetic diploid group was 29.6%, and the average yield out of total eggs taken was about 7% assessed at 1 week of age. However, relatively large variations in the yield of diploid androgenesis were observed among different egg batches used as cytoplasmic donors. Successful diploidization was confirmed by flow cytometric analysis, and parthenogenic reproduction in a paternal exclusive manner was verified with transgene dosage. Significant mortality was found in most androgenetic groups especially from hatch to 1 month of age, although such mortality was stabilized later.

Mineralogy and Chemical Compositions of Dangdu Pb-Zn Deposit (당두 연-아연 광상의 산출광물과 화학조성)

  • The Dangdu Pb-Zn deposit is located at approximately 10 km south of Jecheon, Korea. Geology of Dangdu deposit area consists of Pre-cambrian metamorphic rocks, Ordovician sedimentary rocks, Jurassic and Cretaceous igneous rocks. The ore deposit is developed along the fracture trending $N20{\sim}40^{\circ}W$ in Ordovician limestone and is considered to be a skarn type ore deposit. The shape of ore bodies developed in the Dangdu ore deposit can be divided into lens-form(two ore bodies of -30 m level adit and one ore body of -63 m level adit) and pocket-form developed in -30 m level adit. Ore minerals observed in the ore deposits are magnetite, pyrrhotite, pyrite, chalcopyrite, sphalerite, galena, cosalite, marcasite, hessite, native Bi and bismuthinite. Chemical composition of sphalerite ranges FeS 14.14~18.08 mole%, CdS 0.44~0.70 mole%, MnS 0.52~1.13, 1.53~2.09 mole%. Galena contains a small amount of silver with an average of 0.54 wt.%. An average composition of cosalite is Ag 2.43 wt.%, Bi 44.36 wt.%, Pb 35.05 wt.% which results the chemical formula of cosalite as $Pb_{1.7}Bi_{2.1}Ag_{0.2}S_5$. Skarn minerals consist of epidote, garnet, pyroxene, tremolite, quartz and calcite. The zoning pattern of the ore deposit can be subdivided into epidote-clinopyroxene zone, epidote-clinopyroxene-chlorite zone and epidote-garnet-clinopyroxene zone from the central part of the ore body towards the wall rocks. The chemical composition of garnet shows an increasing trend of grossular from epidote-clinopyroxene zone to epidote-garnet-clinopyroxene zone. Clinopyroxene occurs as a solid solution of diopside and hedenbergite, and the ratio of johannsenite increases from epidote-clinopyroxene zone to epidote-clinopyroxene-chlorite and epidote-garnet-clinopyroxene zones. The mineralization of the ore deposit is considered to be one stage event which can be separated into early skarn mineralization stage, middle ore mineralization stage and late low temperature mineralization stage. The temperature estimation from the low temperature mineralization range from $125{\sim}300^{\circ}C$ which is considered to be representing the temperature of late mineralization.

Effect of Freezing Temperature on Blueberry Quality (냉동 온도에 따른 블루베리의 품질 특성 비교)

  • To evaluate the effect of freezing temperature on quality of blueberries, blueberry fruit was frozen at -20, -45, and $-70^{\circ}C$ immediately after harvest. After 24 hr of freezing, frozen blueberries were stored at $-20^{\circ}C$ for 2 months. Blueberries were thawed at $4^{\circ}C$ or $25^{\circ}C$ and subjected to subsequent analyses of drip ratio, fruit hardness, pH of juice, color, and sugar content. Frozen berries at all three temperatures did not show any significant difference in pH or sugar content compared with fresh berries. The drip ratio of berries decreased as the freezing temperature decreased. Thawing conditions significantly affected the drip ratio of berries frozen at $-20^{\circ}C$. Hardness of berries was significantly reduced after freeze-thawing. Freezing and thawing reduced total aerobic bacteria and yeast/mold numbers by more than 2 log regardless of freezing or thawing temperature ($4^{\circ}C$ or $25^{\circ}C$). Cross-section of blueberries did not show different shapes by freezing temperature. Further studies such as sensory evaluation are needed to determine the optimum freezing temperature regarding quality and cost.

Folate Contents of Oriental Melon (Cucumis melo) Cultivated in Greenhouse Covered with Different Films and Varieties (시설 피복자재와 품종에 따른 참외 엽산 함량)

  • Light transmittance of PO-2 film was 71.2% higher than any other films, because of low amount of pending water and attaching dust on film surface. On dawn, the air temperature of tunnel were higher than that of outdoors as much as between 11.8 and $14.5^{\circ}C$ on Feb. 19 to 20, 2007. The air temperature in the greenhouse covered with PO-2 film was higher than any other films as much as $2.3^{\circ}C$. Analyzing of folate in oriental melon, the folate contents of fruit were between 68.9 and $113.4\;{\mu}g/100\;g$ according to varieties. In winter, the folate contents in the treatment of PO-2 film was higher than that in the treatment of PE film as much as 17%. Above $15^{\circ}C$ in outdoors mean air temperature, the folate contents were as much as between 55.2 and $75.2\;{\mu}g/100\;g$. The folate contents in the treatment of PO-2 film was higher than that in the treatment of PE film as much as 36%.

  • In this paper, proteolytic activity of the tissue extracts from the internal organs such as alimentary canal, pancreas, pyloric caeca, stomach, liver and spleen of mackerel, Scomber japonicus, and sardine, Sardinops melanosticta, was compared with each other under the optimum reaction condition. The proteinases distributed in alimentary canal, pancreas, pyloric caeca and spleen were active in alkaline pH range, but those in stomach were shown the activity in acid pH range, furthermore those in liver were exhibited the activity in acid, neutral and alkaline pH range. The proteinases distributed in the internal organs of both fish were stable at the heat treatment of $45^{\circ}C$ for 5 minutes. The proteinases from stomach and pyloric caeca of the two fish and those from pancreas of sardine were less stable than those from any other internal organs of both fish. Whereas the proteinases from spleen and neutral proteinases from liver were shown to be stable by the heat treatment at $55^{\circ}C$ for 5 minutes. The proteinases from pyloric caeca of both fish, and stomach, pancreas and spleen of mackerel were stable during the whole storage days at $5^{\circ}C$, but the other proteinases were slowly inactivated after 14 days of storage. The enzymes were seemed to be more stable in the storage at $-15^{\circ}C$ than at $5^{\circ}C$.

Preparation and Keeping Quality of Seasoned Smoked-Dried and Vacuum-Packed Squid (훈액처리에 의한 조미오징어 훈제품의 가공 및 품질안정성)

  • Vacuum-packed and seasoned smoked-dried products of red squid, Ommastrephes bartrami, caught in the Northern Pacific Ocean, were prepared and stored at room temperature for 90 days to test their keeping quality. Defrosted squids were eviscerated, skinned, and cut. The mantle meats were flavored with seasoning powders prepared from sugar, sorbitol, salt, monosodium glutamate, or smoke flavor (Smoke-EZ, Alpha Foods Co., Ltd.). After seasoning, the mantle meats were dried at $45^{\circ}C$ for 7 hours, vacuum packed in plastic film bags, and pasteurized in water at $95^{\circ}C$ for 30 minutes. Three kinds of products were prepared : control products (seasoned-dried), solid smoked seasoned-dried and liquid smoked seasoned-dried. The moisture level, water activity, color value (L, a and b value), texture, and viable cell counts of bacteria in these products were determined during storage at room temperature, $5^{\circ}C\;and\;35^{\circ}C$, respectively. The results showed that the products could be preserved at good condition for 90 days though they developed pale brown color during storage. The contents of free amino acids, nucleotides and their related compounds, and the compositions of fatty acids of raw squid and smoked products were analysed. In the amino acids, arginine, taurine, glycine and proline were abundant in raw and smoked products. The contents of hypoxanthine of raw and smoked products were higher than the other nucleotides and their related compounds. In fatty acid compositions of raw and smoked products, the dominant fatty acids were docosahexaenoic acid (22:6), hexadecanoic acid(16:0) and eicosapentaenoic acid (22:5).

  • The potential candidates for IT-SOFCs cathode materials, $Ba_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}Co_{0.8}Fe_{0.2}O_{3-{\delta}}$ (BSCF) and $La_{0.6}Ba_{0.4}Co_{0.2}Fe_{0.8}O_{3-{\delta}}$ (LBCF) powders, were synthesized by a EDTA-citrate combined method from $Sr(NO_3)_2$, $Ba(NO_3)_2$, $La(NO_3)_3{\cdot}6H_2O$, $Co(NO_3)_2{\cdot}6H_2O$, $Fe(NO_3)_3{\cdot}9H_2O$, citric acid and $EDTA-NH_3$. The cathode performance of symmetrical electrochemical cells consisting of BSCF-GDC or LBCF-GDC composite electrodes and a GDC electrolyte was investigated using by AC impedance spectroscopy at the temperature range of 500 to $700^{\circ}C$. It was found that a single phase perovskite could be successfully synthesized when the precursor is heated at $850^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. Due to thermal expansion mismatch between BSCF and GDC, the composite cathodes with lower GDC content than 45 wt% were peeled off from the GDC electrolyte and their electrode polarization resistance was estimated to be high. The thermal expansion coefficient of BSCF-GDC composites was decreased with increasing the GDC content and the electrode peeling off did not occur in BSCF-45 and 55 wt% GDC composites. BSCF-45 wt% GDC composite electrode showed the lowest area specific resistances (ASR) of 0.15 and $0.04{\Omega}{\cdot}cm^2$ at 600 and $700^{\circ}C$, respectively. On the other hand, LBCF-GDC composite cathodes showed higher ASR than the BSCF-45 and 55 wt% GDC and their cathode performance were decreased with the GDC content.
